Harts Terrace is a tastefully decorated one bedroom condo on the lower level of a private villa. There is a two bedroom vacation rental on the upper floor of this Villa. Both rentals share a common driveway and parking area with separate entrances and complete privacy from each other. It is the perfect cozy apartment set up for a couple and still feel the spacious feeling of being in a villa. The space features an air conditioned large bedroom with King Size Bed, and in suite full bathroom as well as a sitting area to relax and enjoy a movie or sports on TV.

Harts Terrace being nestled up on the hill is the ideal setting for a couples vacation, quietly nestled in to the picturesque hills of Chocolate Hole on the South Shore of this beautiful island. Awaken each morning to the breath-taking views of Harts Bay and St. Croix in the distance.

Hart’s Terrace Lower was a great value, and we would return. Thank you for a wonderful stay.The layout is unique, with angled walls and three connected sections. The bedroom is the largest indoor space, the kitchen is smaller, and the covered terrace is the most spacious area. The bedroom window has a beautiful view of flowering trees, hummingbirds, and a slight ocean glimpse. The terrace also has a beautiful view and was one of our favorite parts of the stay.The home felt very safe. It is important to know this is a two unit property, so you may hear upstairs guests at times, and the shared driveway is tight and requires backing out. Renting both units together would be a great option, as the upper unit has the pool.The home is concrete, so there is natural condensation. I am sensitive to mold and had no issues in the bedroom or bathroom. The kitchen did have more of a moisture smell, but we did not use it heavily.The bathroom shower tile is worn and can appear stained, but it is clean. The king bed sags noticeably in the middle and could use better support.The stairs may be difficult for some guests, as they are steep with no railing. I would not recommend this property for small children, as the deck patio railing also needs to be replaced.Overall, this is a true bang for your buck rental with a beautiful view in a great location.

Cute accommodations with the lanai being the favorite spot. Functionality was not good but adequate. The shower needs help, the water splashes outside the shower stall everytime, making a mess and slipping hazard. The kitchen needs a cutting board. There where no communications in the house on check out or things to do. The worst was the parking, impossible to park at night without hitting a wall or the jeep from renters upstairs - minimal space to navigate a turn around to back in without numerous attempts and someone outside guiding, this included the person who guided us to the house. We had no choice but to get a taxi when going out at night. I’ve stayed in many places on island and this one was the least favorite, with bare minimum accommodations. The view is pretty and the bed was comfortable.

4th time back to the lovely STJ

We have been to STJ several times and absolutely love it. The location of the property was great, very quiet. About 5 minute drive to Cruz Bay. The property manager was wonderful, she brought us beach chairs when asked. I will say the property does needs some extra love. There was some mold in the laundry room and the bathroom shower drained very very slow. We didn’t spend much time at the rental though. AC worked great!

Couples Retreat First Time to St John

Stayed in lower basement unit for a week. We felt safe and overall there were no major issues. Some items to note:The unit is in need of general maintenance that should be addressed by the owner. The bathroom needs a deep clean (toilet and shower) and the shower drain needs to be cleaned out as it drains very slowly. At some point in time there has been a leak in the upper unit and there is damage in the bedroom ceiling of the lower unit.The kitchen area is very musty smelling, likely due to the fact of this being a lower unit. Or possibly because the dryer is not vented to the outside.The lower unit access is down a stair pathway. Could be an issue for someone with mobility difficulties.Driveway/parking area is a challenge if two vehicles are present. You will need to either back down or up the narrow driveway if another vehicle is there. This seemed to be the case in general with other houses in the area.Internet broadband during our stay was not useable due speed issues. Host stated that this is an ongoing issue for the past couple months and are aware.Proximity to town is good if you have a vehicle. Not walkable to Cruze Bay unless you’re in great shape!King size bed was comfortable and clean. The outside patio area was nice with a partial view to the south.

Unwelcome surprises

Although the property manager tried to remedy the problems at this VRBO (Abby even bought us a dinner in apology), the stay was fraught with failures: not operating WIFI, washing machine, smoke detector and door locks. Plus the kitchen utensils, dishes and pans were littered with insect excrement, chairs were broken, screen doors barely opened, mold in bathroom and a long list of maintenance issues direrly needing attention. Perhaps this property manager needs some assistance to encourage the owner to repair the apartment and bring it up to Vrbo standards.

Beautiful Property and Wonderful Host

The property and location were as described. The views are very nice. The host and property manager were easy communicate with and helpful when we had personal requests before and during the stay. The property manager met us at the ferry, helped arrange a couple taxis before we got a Jeep and followed up the ensure our stay was as we expected. Very happy with the property, location and service provided by the host and property manager.

Excellent value on St. John

We stayed in the lower, one bedroom unit. It was huge. Everything was comfortable. It is not decorated per the latest trend, but that was MORE than made up for by the amenities and price. We used the cooler, beach chairs and snorkel gear every day. We washed a load of laundry there, which allowed us to pack less. We cooked most of our meals there due to Covid. The kitchen was well equipped. The lower unit covered patio has a South view of the ocean, has nice chairs and catches nice breezes. I did get some bug bites sitting out in the evening. You could rent the upper unit which has a screened covered patio if you are concerned about bugs. The house is close enough to walk into Cruz Bay, but the sidewalks are mostly non-existent and there are two significant hills to traverse. A car rental is a much better option. The Dolphin market that is nearby is well stocked with groceries and liquor. Finally, the property manager Abby, is absolutely the best. She made sure we had everything we needed and made some wonderful recommendations about where to go on the island. We would definitely rent again.

2020 Winter Getaway

St. John never disappoints! Hart’s Delight has many great features - close to town, spectacular view of Chocolate Hole and clean. A few things to consider if staying here. It is “rustic” - this unit is the downstairs quarters to a larger unit upstairs. No frills or fancy amenities (but clean). Although I think the VRBO listing mentioned this I guess I didn’t understand but the bedroom is separated from the kitchen/laundry room by the expansive patio (2 separate rooms). We prefer to cook while we are here and the kitchen is simple and has limited cooking utensils.. During our visit the BBQ grill was not working (but we were able to use the upstairs grill). As usual with most St. John residence the driveway is tricky and Jeep really needs to be backed into/turned around at bottom. This is tricky if 2 jeeps. Abby the unit manager was very helpful and nice.

Perfect Location in Paradise

We loved how close and convenient Harts Terrace was to town, only a few minutes away to a grocery store or restaurants and the night life in Cruz Bay. Abby the manager was there to greet us when we arrived from the ferry on St. John and took us to pick up our rental car and led us up to the house. She showed us around and helped get us acquainted with the place and went over a map of the Island with us. We found the home very clean and comfortable and would recommend it to anyone looking for a great place to stay. We are already booked there again for next year. Can't wait to return.

Hart's Terrace exceeded all of our expectations for our vacation on St. John. We have been to St. John many times but this is definitely our favorite place to stay! The HUGE porch area is the perfect place to relax and take in the spectacular view! We started all of our days and ended all of our days there. 😊 Hart's Terrace had great privacy and was still close to Town and all the beaches. The bed was very comfortable and the entire place was well decorated and clean. We enjoyed being able to grill out a couple nights on the grill. The view from the large bedroom window was also priceless!! A great way to get up every morning!! Chris was extremely helpful answering all our questions in advance and giving us some suggestions on what to do while we are on the island. He gave us some ideas of places we had never been before! Once we got on the island, Abby was very warm and friendly and welcoming! We immediately felt like we were part of the island once we arrived! We can't wait to go back to St. John and Hart's Delight soon! We are already trying to work out our available dates so we can contact Chris again.
