When we arrived, the walls, staircase, doors, couches, kitchen cabinets, and tabletops had smears, stains, scratches, and grime covering them as if dogs, children, and dirty-handed adults had well used this place. Thank God I brought cleaner and scrub brushes to clean it before my pregnant friend arrived one hour later for a vacation! There is no way this place was sanitized prior to our arrival to COVID 19 standards. The white hand rails were literally blackened along the edges from hand grime. Ugh! Day 2 the toilets all clogged and not a plunger in the house. Despite 2 calls for service, a plunger did not arrive until later on Day 3. Thank God our neighbors were kind enough to let us borrow their plunger on Day 2 so that we could fix the problem ourselves. Day 4 we had to move our vehicle in the early morning so that a construction crane could access the house next door. Construction was happening on both sides of us early in the morning and well into the evening. I do not recall that being mentioned in the listing. Day 5 a wind storm definitely made the house sway like we were in a house boat and my architect husband said there was no way that was safe. That may explain the large structural crack along the loft. Almost every night there was a large group of rowdy, music booming crowds of teenagers spilling down the road from the playground area, cursing at each other and making out with each other like it was a mini-MTV spring break on St. George. The air was thick with marijuana. We could see them passing handles of alcohol around as we passed them on our way home from dinner. They didn't want to move out of our way. Our daughter and her friend went to the playground one morning and a young guy was there with a handle of Titos passing it off to a young girl. They were freaked out and ran back to the house. Finally, on our last day cops patrolled the area and kept the peace.
I have been coming to St. George for almost 30 years. It has always been a family-friendly, clean, and peaceful destination. This week was anything but. That is why I title this review as " Nothing But The View." The view of this beautiful beach saved our vacation.
