One block from MSU and a few blocks from down town. Perfectly situated in Springfield for whatever you are looking to do. Plenty of off street parking. Two kitchens three laundry, ect. Huge wrap around porch. Newly remodeled. Also. This house has stairs up and down. There are 4 bedrooms upstairs and one bedroom on main floor There are three bedrooms in the basement Also,We have remodeled the two car garage into a one bedroom apartment. If you would like to rent it, please let me know. It is available on Vrbo as well. The number is 411772. That is the property ID. It is a separate unit and does rent separately, but you most certainly welcome to can coordination with the main house is on the same property shares the same parking space. The main thing about this particular unit is it is a garage so there are no stairs. So if you have young people or old people, this is very good. Sleep 16 in main house

Me & my family stayed in this historic house which was amazing. There was more than enough space to accommodate everyone. It was great to have a tv in each room, but would’ve been nicer to have one in the living room to watch. It would also be good to have a sofa beds instead of two sofas.Communication with Cheryl was great. She would reply to you immediately. It t does get a little drafty in the house, so you have to adjust the heat per level. It was thermostats on each level, which was great.I had left something of value & immediately informed her, which the cleaning people sent her a photo & I was able to retrieve what I had left. This was true honesty on behalf of the cleaning personnel.Overall, we had a great time @ this historical house.

We were looking for a place with enough rooms to accommadte a family of eight siblings to gather and spend some quality time together for an early Thanksgiving time together. This home was a delightful location for us to gather from all corners of the USA. I believe we would do it again

Nice sized bedrooms and gathering space. Loved the front porch! Plenty of bathrooms for our size party of 10. Kitchen was a little small on the main level but 2nd kitchen in the basement helped. The host was very kind in allowing extra guests to come over as our daughter got engaged that weekend which wasn’t in our original plans.

Great Stay

First, I really appreciated the quick response and friendliness of the owner. The house was historic and charming. There were plenty of places to sleep! Everyone in our group of 10 had nothing but nice things to say. There is a big chalk area in the kitchen and stair area to spark the creative juices flowing, The living room has plenty of seating with extra tables and chairs for a lively game night. There is also a working player piano and antique radio. There were umbrellas, garbage cans, paper towels mini fridges, and microwaves and laundry baskets in each room for our convenience. Seemed yo be close to everything and a great neighborhood. Overall given the age of the house everything was in working order and really brought back some nostalgia!

Good property

Amount of rooms is fantastic and spaced out. The decor goes with the house, old. The kitchen bathrooms were great. Some of the beds were pretty broken down but others were great. Overall we enjoyed the house and recommend it.

This property was good for our large family to stay in for a few nights. Plenty of bedrooms and bathrooms for all of us. It is close to everything which was great. Parking can be tricky but not terrible. If you are looking for something for a large group for a few nights at a decent price this is fine. Some things I will note - beds are not great. Pretty uncomfortable and pillows are flat. Doors are leaky - cold air was freely flowing into all the doors and the house was frigid the first night. We had to turn on the emergency heat pump just to make it warm enough to be tolderable. Furniture in the house is not comfortable at all and a few of the chairs at the dinig table felt one wrong move away from collapse. The kitchen is so small - be prepared for that. The basement kitchen sink leaked everywhere when we tried to use it but the owner said she would have someone fix it. Overall we would stay again if we needed a place for a few nights.

Spacious house

Very spacious, my kids loved having their own room even our 1 year old granddaughter. Everyone loved sitting on the front porch. My advice is if you don't need to use the bedroom on main floor don't very loud with cars going by. Adult children heard hardly nothing. Other than that had wonderful time.

Great location, great hosts, just a few things....

This is an amazing older house with some really cool antiques and a great vibe. The students LOVED it. I will say that the cleanliness was not as good as the last time we rented. AS far as the property itself, the kitchen area is super small and has not dishwasher and not much counter space. I had to buy several pizza pans (which I left with the house) in order to cook our frozen pizza meal. The basement apartment was nice, however, it did smell moldy and stale. Overall, though, I would stay again due to size, location, and responsiveness of the host.

Great family hangout

We were a large family group in town for the wedding of our niece. Members of our group came from three different states for this event. Our ages ranged from 65 to 3. We were thrilled with the house because of its age and charm. A lovely old lady in a beautiful neighborhood. The owner is very responsive to needs and took care of a problem we encountered very promptly and satisfactorily. We were a little concerned on Friday evening when we were sitting out on the porch visiting because of the amount of road noise down the busy street next to the house. But, when we went inside and went to bed, we never heard anything. The layout of the house, with bedrooms/bathrooms on three different floors, gave us enough separation that getting ready for the wedding-related events was easy. And yet, we were still together on one property so we could hang out and visit whenever time permitted. We loved it! Thanks for letting us stay in your amazing and lovely craftsman mansion.

Large home marred by issues

Home is a large space capable of housing many people and features ample parking for such. Unfortunately this is set back by the many issues we found. Upon arrival, one will find it quite difficult to get into the parking area which is only accessible through via a very tight path. Within minutes of walking in we were greeted by a mouse running across the kitchen floor. (Owner did provide traps, but they were left outside the door and we had to place them ourselves) Evidence of the mouse was also found in the kitchen cupboards which was very off putting. We were initially struck by the rustic feel of the home but that faded as one took in the many quality issues. Broken railing in many spots, doorhandles and makeshift locks that barely worked, ceiling vents just hanging open, stained chairs, uneven/peeling floorboards and terribly painted walls were some of the biggest issues. Overall, if one is only concerned about space and room count, this will work for you. However, if you want a clean and high quality environment you may want to pass on this one.

Extended Family Thanksgiving/Christmas Trip

We had so much FUN in this home! We had our five adult children, two sons-in-law, one 4 yo grandson, and three grandparents all together for five days, and we wanted MORE! That doesn't happen often! We had extended family come for a couple of hours of visiting...a total of 27 people spread throughout the 3 floors and there was room to spare. We played games and ate tons of pizza and ice cream. As far as the home, it is over 100 years old so don't expect brand new stuff. Everything worked, it wasn't spotless but Cheryl's cleaning crew was on holiday so that was okay...it wasn't dirty or anything, just not spotless. The bathrooms were not attached to any of the rooms as I thought they were, but it all worked out very well. There are 2 bathrooms upstairs, 1 on the main floor, and 1 downstairs. The front porch light has to stay on and this makes the main floor bedroom difficult to sleep in because it is so brightly lit. We had to put a sheet over the door to make it work for us. Most of the water in the whole house is backwards, the normal hot location is cold and visa versa. This is only learned by trial and error, so it might be nice for that to be noted somewhere. The beds and linens were comfortable, the towels were plentiful. I did have my debit card hacked while there so I would suggest not connecting to the wifi. I was the only one that connected to it and I was the only one that got hacked. It may be a coincidence but I don't think so. The kitchen was big enough for all our holiday cooking, and it was nice to have a 2nd kitchen downstairs to move all the casseroles around in. We were cooking a lot of food and had brought additional disposable casserole dishes. That was a good thing because they didn't have enough or big enough for what we needed. The gas range in the main floor kitchen is not true to temp, it is not as hot as it says...and it would shut off whenever we opened the door. That could have been user error, but it was aggravating. The player piano does not work, nor can you play it, but the pump organ does work. The parking is plentiful but you have to access it from National Street. There is no parking available from Walnut Street. Overall, it was a WONDERFUL trip and we would stay there again if we had the opportunity! Great memories were made by all of us!

Family Visit

We met in Springfield from 3 different states to visit with another family member and his family. The house was just the right size for our party of 8. The beds were comfortable and the bathrooms were well kept. The house sits on a corner of a busy intersection and traffic is loud at night. That’s the only issue we had but this wouldn’t keep us from staying here again. It’s very convenient to any of the main attractions.

Couldn’t have asked for better!

We had a great experience. We needed a place to host 14 people. The 7 bedrooms and 4 baths made it work well. We had family and friends coming in from all over the country and this gave us the perfect place to host a bridal shower and be together before the wedding. Cheryl was very helpful! The two kitchens helped a lot too!
