Cozy and Open
Our stay overall was cozy. The house had an open layout living space with plenty of room for my family of 11. The kitchen had plenty of room for many "chefs" to share and the sitting space plentiful during dining times. Could have used more sitting space by the fireplace while watching TV, but it was easily viewable from the kitchen and dining area.
The rooms downstairs provided plenty of sleeping space for my entire family. The kids enjoyed sleeping in their own beds in the same room. Each adult couple had their own room and was provided with plenty of pillows and warm blankets. It could have been warmer downstairs though the blankets kept us warm enough. The two queen beds downstairs probably should be upgraded since it sagged somewhat in the middle. We enjoyed the hot showers in the upstairs master bedroom, but the shower downstairs didn't produce enough hot water even after raising the temperature on the water heater. For our group, a third shower would have been nice, but we were happy to take our turns.
Some repair needed to be done to the house. The front door handle came off upon checkin and made it almost impossible to get in. After some wiggling and pushing we were able to get in. We found some tools and rescrewed the handles into the door holes and it worked for us the rest of the weekend. It just needed to be retightened and some TLC. The door stop behind the front door was also in the wrong position to stop the door completely. We noticed that it had been pushed all the way through into the drywall when we arrived. We had our things behind the door to stop the door from going that far so it was not us who did that. However, we decided to fix it for the owner by pulling it out of the wall and placing it where there was a stud behind the drywall. However, the hole left behind will have to be filled in.
Our communication with the owner/manager was easy. Ron communicated with us via text message and was very responsive. We asked about things like heater settings, wifi passwords, and also told him about some the TLC work that needed to be done.
Parking was a little tight for three cars and the driveway was down a steep hill. We had to drive backwards down the hill in the snow just so we could unload and make sure we were able to get out the next morning, incase of snow. Garage access would have made it so much more convenient and safe. Since we had to also leave enough space for other cars to drive by to another house down below, we had to make sure there was plenty of room in the driveway.
All in all, we had a wonderful time with our family. It was just the right distance to Dodgeridge and some snow play areas. Will certainly plan on returning!
