There were no tires or dock cushions on the pier. First place I’ve rented on Shawano Lake in over 45 years of coming to this lake with a boat that didn’t have any tires or dock cushions to keep your boat from getting scratched. And it’s extremely shallow and on windy days the wave make it hard enough to dock but boat control was difficult due to keeping the motor high enough to not bottom out but still keep water circulation and some boat control. The use of tires our other dock cushions would have been a huge help docking the boat in high wind and wave conditions that are typical on Shawano Lake. Cabin was clean but it’s not the best if you bringing a fishing boat. Too shallow and no dock cushioning at all. Bring plenty of your own.

Everything we needed was there. Clean, supplied well and Host support was more than expected and most appreciated. Love the gas stove. This was such a peaceful, restful and beautiful lake views. Would love to stay here again, prior to the cold and wind we had this time. The stairs are a bit steep for short people like me to climb so it was nice to have bed provisions on the lower floor. Heating system worked wonderfully (once we figured out the way to close the heating vents to balance the upstairs to the downstairs. Shower doors are heavy and hard to move but we managed. We had a wonderful time and can't wait to come back! Thank you Kyle and Jenny you are the best hosts ever!P.S. fireplace in the room on the right only worked the first day and then stopped for some reason; never could figure it out. Minor breakage by one of my family the small vase holding the cute sunflower - let me know what I can do to repay it.

Wonderful home. Has all you need for a great time at the lake. I even made to requests and asked for advice and the owner’s responsed immediately. Great Experience all around. Not many homes can accommodate a family. This one is fantastic!

This was our second stay at the Sunset Escape. It is so peaceful and relaxing with a great sunset view. We love that we can rent a boat and tie it up on the dock. It has everything you need and is close to all Shawano has to offer. Communication with Kyle and Jenny is clear and fast.

Great for families with small children

Our group, which included four small children, had a wonderful time. The location was perfect, and we enjoyed playing with water toys and kayaks outside and games and toys inside. The cottage definitely exceeded our expectations. We would certainly love to stay here again!

Perfect Lakeside Getaway

We recently stayed at this cabin on Shawano Lake and had an amazing time!The location couldn’t be better — the cabin sits just steps from the water with a private dock that's perfect for fishing, swimming, or just relaxing with a cup of coffee in the morning. Being right on the lake made it so easy to enjoy water activities without ever needing to pack up and leave the property.The accommodations were excellent — the cabin was clean, cozy, and well-stocked with everything we needed. There was plenty of room for our group of six adults, with comfortable beds, a spacious living area, and a great kitchen for cooking meals together. It really felt like a home away from home.This is the ideal spot whether you're looking to unwind or explore the area. We’re already talking about coming back next summer. Highly recommend!

Absolute great long weekend!

Everything about this VRBO is fantastic. We all slept well, beautiful sunsets, updated property. The dock area and slide is nice and weed free. The Lily pad/magic carpet was a hit with the kiddos. A fun and relaxing week

This is older but very nicely updated cottage. The water toys that are provided were a big hit with the kids and the dock was plenty long enough to secure both our pontoon and fishing boat. The neighbors were awesome to chat with and there are lots of things to do both on the water and at businesses in the area. Thanks Kyle and Jenny!!

A vacation gem in Shawano

My husband and I traveled from San Diego, California, to visit my family in Shawano over Memorial Day weekend. We normally book a different property on the lake, but it was occupied during our expected stay, so we took a chance on this property and were pleasantly surprised! Our hosts were absolutely wonderful: friendly, highly communicative, and proactive in fixing an issue at the property on our very first day. We enjoyed the updated interior of the home, the backyard view of the lake, and many included amenities (such as kayaks and paddle boards). After our stay, we communicated a few issues we noticed at the property and the hosts were gracious and responsive to fixing them for future guests. If the property is available during our next visit to Shawano, we will most certainly book again! So glad we found our new favorite place!

quick review

This was a very nice cabin/small house, obviously older but fixed up nicely. Everything was clean, the beds were comfortable, plenty of seating downstairs, and the hosts had a nice addition of games and puzzles for all ages.

Great house right on the lake

I rented the house for a weekend ice fishing trip with my son. The house was great. Very clean and updated interior. Great location right on the lake. The process was very smooth and the owners were very responsive.

Fishing Basecamp

Wonderful property that met my needs while ice fishing. There was plenty of space to store my gear in the shed, and recharge other equipment near the door w/o overcrowding the living space. I was able to park my trailer on the grass and utilize street parking for my truck. Beds, bathrooms, and kitchen were all clean and updated.

Christmas!

This home was perfect for our Christmas!More than enough room with the large open living area.The hosts were great at communication, answering any questions, and were quick at responding. Also, the hosts went above and offered to decorate for Christmas, which included a Christmas tree.We really appreciated. Check in and out was easy. They offered some games and books for all ages. Some kid toys were available to use. This home has alot to offer.waswas easy and quick.

Sisters get away

Great place! Loved the pier for fishing...even caught a northern! Amazing sunset view over the lake. And great deck for looking at the stars...great place to relax and reset. It was too cold to go in the water, we may revisit to do that next summer. House was clean and comfortable.
