Home away from home

We get around easily being located near subway and shopping area too. The manager in charge was very helpful and informative. The room is sizeable for 2z what I like most is each room have its own toilet.. it gives you a cosy feeling of a home away from home feeling.

Great value for the price.

A great value for the price. If you're a single traveler on a budget like I was, you can't go wrong with Hostel Vanilla. I was especially happy for the laundry service and extra soap bars. The surrounding neighborhood (Dongdaemun station) doesn't have much for tourists in my opinion, but with Seoul's excellent public transportation it's not a big deal. It's also very close to Cheonggyecheon, which was great for running early in the morning.

Great place to stay!

Vanilla was a great place in a great location. It was very clean and had good items fro breakfast. The staff was SUPER helpful. They would go out of their way to research information for you. Laundry service was terrific too.

Hostel located very near to Dongdaemun Station with many local food stores around it. Soo and Illir were very friendly and provide excellent service throughout our stay!

Nice hostel with great location, near to subway

I've been to Seoul for few times and this is the first time with free and easy. Vanilla 1's location is very strategic and near to Dongdaemun subway station ( around 3mins walk from exit 1). We enjoy very much staying at Vanilla, and the host, Su and her husband are very nice and willing to assist us for everything during our stay, we appreciate very very much. Definitely will choose to stay again for the next trip to Seoul. Oh yea, their offer very very nice breakfast!

Cozy and Warm Stay

Have stayed for 3 nights and was happy with it. The location is perfect just less than 5 mins walk from subway, restaurant, convenience stores are nearby. The room is clean and nice, the bed is comfy. Snack and drinks are provided all day. The owner (Soo and Illia) are very helpful and friendly. Highly recommended and will definitely stay with Hostel Vanilla again next time.

A great little hostel for solo travelers

This is a great little hostel. Wonderful value for single travelers if you are looking for a room with a private bathroom. Very clean. Check-in was easy. Only a 5-minute walk to subway lines 1 (direct to Seoul Station) and 5 (one transfer to the Express Bus Terminal). Within walking distance to Dongdaemun market, the Changsin toy market, DOOTA, etc. Only downsides: the walls are very thin - though with so few rooms, it's wasn't a big problem. And I had a little difficulty finding the place initially. I told them I would be arriving between 1:30-2:30, but when I tried to call to get directions around 2:45, my call didn't go through. I was informed when I finally did arrive, that the person didn't take calls before 3.

Feel like home

I was very happy staying in hostel vanila one. Soo is very helpful and kind. She took good care of me. The room is clean and I love the decoration there. Feels like a girly room. The location of the hostel is great. The subway train is about 5 min to hostel only. I will definitely stay here again next time.

Great location and only mins away from Dongdaemum!

The V1 is a cozy and lovely place, 3 mins walk from the underground station Dongdaemum! Surrounded by great variety of restaurants, with my fav fried chicken and beer to offer! The host is absolutely wonderful, I got ill on my 3rd day of stay, they helped to check medicine we got from a local pharmacy and made me a warm honey drink, this is really helpful especially in Seoul I knew how difficult to get English speaking local to help during emergency.

Very nice stay, rooms are nicely decorated and homely. The owners are welcoming and accommodating. Facilities are well provided and maintained.The location is near dongdaemung subway but a bit hidden, still it is accessible and definitely worth your consideration.
