My first stay at the Westin, comfortable room, wonderful bed and shower. Unfortunately, we stayed the same evening as the holiday party of a major Seattle corporation. Because of that, we were not permitted to enter the hotel through the sky bridge that connects the parking garage. Instead, we had to walk outside and around the block to enter from the front entrance. I thought this was unreasonable as we were paying guests as well. Fortunately, it was not raining and we each had only 1 bag. It was very inconvenient to have to walk around the block and was made to feel like an inferior guest that evening.

Since I had to be somewhere by 3 the staff was excellent and let us check in a little early. The room was good. View and location good. The bed you sink in and never want to leave. This is the first time in a very long time that I actually slept in until 8:30. We ate breakfast there and it was excellent.

Good location. Easy walking distance to monorail, Westlake train station, Pike Place market, restaurants and supermarket on 3rd Ave. Power cord for the coffee maker is very short, difficult to pour water in. No fridge to store milk or drink. Front desk staff did not inform guests about the bar fridge being "weight sensitive", that is, as soon as you take a can or a bottle from the bar fridge, you get charged immediately even if you put the item back!!! There is a small warning notice on the fridge door, but you have to kneel down to read it. The tissue box is very old, tissues turn yellow and when you pull one out, it crumbles in your hand.

staff got in my things

Pros: We liked the location downtown
Cons: more trust worthy cleaning staff
Location: Close to many resturants, and the pier
After staff cleaned our room the first time, I found one of my presription pills in bathtub. My husband and I had both showered earlier in the day. The pill was dry & just lying in bathtub. When checking out of the hotel, we were charged for a twist candy bar from our room food bar. We did not eat a twist candybar.

Bad group in room above us

We had to call security twice for obnoxious people in the rooms above ours. We had two rooms for two nights for our family. Apparently the party above us had the same adjoining rooms because neither of our rooms were peaceful. Just kind of thought the hotel manager would have credited us in some fashion..

Reconstruction is a disaster

The hotel was under intense reconstruction, which if advised at time of booking, I would have choosen another facility. Uncomfortable and unpleasant view seeing detoured materials all around

Westin downtown Seattle is rough around the edges

Pros: location
Cons: updating the hotel and elevators
Location: Shopping
We stayed one night in the hotel while we were in town for an engagement party that was near by. The hotel is getting very worn looking but our biggest complaint is the elevators. Everytime we used them we waited and waited and waited for one to arrive only to have them stop our our floor after waiting forever for one to arrive and then they were packed with people and we couldn't even get on! We were on the 16th floor and even chose to use them after waiting forever! When we reserved our room, I requested a "quiet room with a nice city view" Our room ended up being across from the elevator and ice machine that was mounted in the wall. There was a group of 800 high school students staying there too and they decided to use that area to throw a birthday party complete with a sheet cake. Finally at 2 AM I really got grumpy at them and told them to shut it down. Not the best hotel stay and for $250/nt a BIG DISAPPOINTMENT!

Thank you for your review and for sharing your experience with the Expedia community. Our apologies for the elevator wait times and for the guest room noise during your stay. We are just wrapping up an elevator modernization project so that all of our elevators are running at optimal speeds with the latest technology. We are also getting ready to undergo a full-scale, floor to ceiling lobby renovation that will transform the overall guest experience. We do hope we have another opportunity to host you in the future so that we can improve upon your recent visit. Thanks again.

Very helpful conicerge

Cons: I love dogs but don't want to hear them bark.
Location: The Chihuly Museum is a must! Senior citizens should be aware that the first Friday of each month is free entrance to the marvelous SAM.
Judy was full of good suggestions both about Seattle and other travel tips. I also liked the proximity of the hotel to the main attractions of Seattle attractions.,
