worst experience ever

Pros: close to the airport
Please don't do it. I read the review before arriving and decide to still give it a try. worst experience ever. this place is discounting. the food is bad, rooms are dirty and staff the worst. they don't know what are they doing there. will never stay there again even if they give it to me for free!!!!

Very Poor

Pros: Proximity to the ocean.
Cons: Food, housekeeping, maintenance, customer service
Location: Unknown, we spent so much time fighting for bare essentials we didn't have time to look around much.
My original arrival time for the hotel was going to be Thurs night/Fri morning at ~3AM and so we reserved the room starting Thurs. Flight delays caused us to completely miss the first night’s stay. When I learned of the delay I called Travelocity. The agent spoke to Be Live on my behalf and asked about a refund for the first night. The hotel would not issue a refund but Travelocity did credit me the cost of a night’s stay. However, when we arrived to the hotel on Fri at 1pm we spent 45 minutes waiting in line and talking to the hotel agent only to be told we could not check in to our room because it was not ready. This is despite the fact that the hotel was paid to have it ready the prior day and the situation was already described to them. We were forced to walk around with our bags for 2 hours, unable to enjoy any of the day. Check in then took another 45 minutes of waiting in line. We were forced to wear an uncomfortable cheap vinyl wristband for our entire stay. Loosing it would cost a lot. The room was dirty. Bedding was stained, had holes. Hot water did not work. Hair dryer was broken. Mold in the bathroom. Customer service was non-existent, even when approached by our native friend. Food mad us sick. Essentials like sunscreen were insanely expensive. We were constantly approached by pushy salespeople.

Very bad experience. I have been there three times but this time it was really bad. Check in at 1;30 AM after arriving at 5 PM Do not do an all inclusive!!! Bad food! You are in a Rum country but not a regular rum brand available, they have their own brand for this hotel only. I will not come again to this hotel, to Dominican Republic YES at anytime!!!!!

so disappointed

Pros: there was nothing TO like about this hotel :(
Cons: everything. the entire hotel is so dirty.
Location: the only thing to do is sit in a pool or the beach, we were bored.
We arrived to the hotel and had a room that was NOTHING what it looked like on the computer when i booked this hotel. The bed being hard and only two pillows, small tv, and very old, no air conditioning, and ONE light (a lamp) in the entire room along with the balcony light that didn't work, was the least of our worries. However, the room was infested with mosquitoes. When you looked up they were crawling all over the ceiling, we couldn't take it anymore, my fiance and i went down to the desk to let them know that the room had mosquitoes and there was no A.C, the lady at the front desk was who we spoke to, and although she was nice, they charged us like crazy to get switched to a room with A.C and no bugs... we didn't even complain about the rest because our main issues was just how uncomfortable we were. They charged us an extra for a comfortable room.. MIND YOU we paid almost a ton of money upon our arrival here. We were already in another country, we were basically tricked, because NOTHING online is what it appears in person. There is obviously no customer service in that hotel, all they want is your money. The pool with the bar in it, has tons of bird poop in it, and the bar has mold all over it. They don't clean, they don't keep up with it. With the amount of money taken from us you think that hotel would be AT LEAST kept clean. Seriously disgusting and i'm still so upset that i hated my vacation.

This hotel has a lot of issues

Pros: If you like the pool on the garden side, I liked my pretty room with the pretty view of the room and it was close to the buffet area and show area.
Cons: EVERYTHING needs repair!!! Reception needs more organization. Housekeeping needs to respond more quickly and check the rooms better for missing thing
Location: The surrounding area is NOT a safe place. You have to watch your back if you venture into the town outside the hotel. Many hookers. Pushy vendors
Honestly, this is one of the worst, organized hotels that I have ever stayed in. I've been going to the Dominican Republic for years. Really the worst hotel. AT this time do NOT take an ocean view room. The building is old, the beds are bad and the view is a joke. Ocean FRONT rooms are newly renovated and wonderful. Garden view rooms don't have much of a view unless you face the pool which is nice but some of the rooms there are also renovated. I downgraded to a garden view room and had a modern room with a beautiful view of the pool. I was much happier there, of course I was not offered any compensation. I arrived early to the hotel, but my room was STILL not ready until well after check in time. I was left to fend for myself. Reception was in CHAOS and many people had issues with them not having the reservations right.Ocean view room was old and had lousy beds, I slept badly and requested a room change. Room door also had a lock that would not hold and I found my room open a couple of times. The staff bent over backwards to help me move my room and even helped me to move my stuff... new room had air conditioning leaking on the floor. Then the AC stopped working completely. They moved me again across the hall but that room had a broken refrigerator and a horrible view of the road. I asked them to fix the AC and move me back. They did..but the next day I had bedbug bites. I asked them to scrub the room and change mattress. They did that. After I was fine in the nice room.

Pros: The Beach, Which is nicer then anything else

Location: need to take hotel tours to do anything. Locally there isn't much that can be done.
We arrived at the hotel, Oct. 25th. I proceed to check in at the front desk. 1st thing I am told is that i am actually booked at the Hamaca Garden. I explain to lady, No i am not. I payed for Hamaca Beach. I had to show her the print out of my PAYED reservation for the Hamaca Beach. Only then she believed me. She made copies of our passports and swiped our credit card for final payment at the end of our stay. We now proceed to room. Room was the worst. Lighting was very dim, bathroom smelled like poop. bathtub has oxidation by the drain and the faucets were disgusting and brittle. There were no towels at the time, we had to request it. There had been a power outage so our room TV or lights were off. The bed was lopsided and once you sat on it, that side went all the way down. Sliding doors to the balcony were off the rail, so only one side could be open carefully!!! Furniture was chipped and cracked, parts of the walls were yellowish, and cracked. the room was connected to two other rooms, there were no locks on either side. One cleaning lady per floor. Their famous pool w/bar inside, was dirty and disgusting, the dirt laid on the bottom of pool and once anyone went it it would lift up. The not so popular pool Hamaca Beach ws much better looking and cleaner. This was an all inclusive, Drinks SUCKED!! beer served was not Presidente! as they claimed it was Quisqueya, cheaper and light! actual Alcohol Was cheapest of them all. This resort has seen better days, unfortunately!

Pros: Close restaurants
Cons: No free Internet, Noisy, Poor breakfast
Ever since Be Live took over, the overall quality and service of this resort and a few others have gone down. Hamaca was much better a few years ago before the renovations, which are still on- going by the way! They painted the hotel white (used to be coral) and the new theme is much more modern. There aren't as many palm trees on the beach and they removed the umbrellas made out of dry palm leaves, which used to give it a tropical cozy feeling. The beach is very short and you can't walk to the left because of the restaurant that's on a pier and to the right there are local restaurants and a public beach (explore at your own risk and bring a friend along). The water is clear, calm, and shallow. There is a good sized swimming area and plenty of coral and fish to explore with snorkels! If you are the type of person that likes peace and quiet on the beach, this is not the place to visit. Since the beach is so small, no matter where you place your chair, there is no escaping the music and daily activities. The room was decent, but ours was missing a fridge and an alarm clock so we always had to check our own watch to figure out the time. When I asked for one, they said that none of the rooms have them. As for the young people who like to party they got rid of the disco, which used to be where the gourmet restaurant now is. There is a separate disco next to the main lobby with no entrance fee but the drinks are almost the same price as in New York (we paid $36 for 4 mixed drinks. with tip, it's $10 a drink...depending where you go out, drinks range from 7 to 15 bucks in NYC FYI:-). The set-up is fun and the music was good, but it was pretty empty both nights that we went. Lastly, the food at the buffet was limited so try to eat at all the restaurants at least once. Breakfast was extremely repetitive and they didn't serve bacon at all:-(

Good accesibility and Location. Boca chica bullevard need a mayor improvement. Friendly people but locals always like to rip you out (they like to charge a lot more for service or prodicts). Be careful when walking alone at night.
