Website misleading - this place is nothing more than an expensive flop house - no restaurant, no bar, cheap towels, no water pressure in shower, elevators didn’t work. Cheap.

Nice place, but be careful

Pros: The room was very nice and the staff at the time of the stay were very friendly.
Cons: Kind of shady with the credit card charges. Staff on the phone not very helpful in dealing with this.
Hotel under some construction, but wasn't a major problem. Staff at the time of our stay was excellent. However, they hotel charged a "security deposit". 2 separate charges totaling $122.01. When I checked my credit card charges, it was charged on the date of our check out, not check in. The lady at the front desk told me at check in that there would be a security deposit, but it would be refunded to my card after the stay. When I called a week after we left to ask about the refund, they told me that they could not find the record of our stay and that someone from accounting would be in touch. No one has returned my call and when I call now, no one answers the phone line for accounting or the front desk. Very frustrating!!

Not what I expected

The hotel looked nothing like the photos. They didn't disclose that they were under construction at the time of booking. There was scaffolding, lights not working, and at least one of the elevators was out during my stay. Not very relaxing and rather loud.

I will stay here again

Pros: The hotel lobby was unavailable due to remodeling. However that didn't create any problems. They have created a satelite lobby just next door.
Cons: It will all be fixed when the lobby is done. The rest was better than expected and the beds and linens were really comfortable.
Location: Union square is right outside the door, cable cars to the Warf and other areas, ferry building (A must see). You name is its there close by.
This hotel is excellent for location, service and quality. The lobby is currently being renovated but the temporary lobby was just fine. All else about the hotel was perfect. I would definately stay here again. I am a frequent travler to San Francisco and this will be my top pick. Hopefully I will be able to get in here.

Great place near everything in Union Square.

Pros: The staff
Cons: Bring back Kuleto's restaurant
Location: close to everything and the value was excellent
The staff made this place special beside its location. Kuleto's restaurant is gone but Café Bellini's is next door. The food is great there also.

The room smelled like fried duck and grease fro the hotel restaurant one story below. When we asked to change rooms we were dried.

Good Downtown Location

Hotel very nice once you get there. Parking is a challenge. Construction in the area makes it difficult but when I called they met me on the street and parked my car for me. Their valet parking is expensive and takes time to retrieve the car. We learned to park one block away for half the price and it wasn't difficult. The staff were very helpful especially a man named Limo at the front desk.

Was disappointed at all the fees

Thought we were getting a $65 discount and it said there were to be no additional travelocity fees. Then there were $62 in additional fees

Great location, room sizes vary, parking $$$

Pros: Location, character. They were a accommodating with a roll out bed at no extra charge for my son.
Cons: Bathroom cleanliness. Bad odor in hallways & elevator. Parking cost is too high $58/nite. Small touches; cookies at check-in, AM coffee, more towels
Location: A great location at Union Square with nearby (shopping, restaurants, bars, cable car, public transit) walking to China Town. Great onsite restaurant.
Great location, half a block from Union Square with walking distance to so much. If you're coming in on public transportation this is not a bad option. With the construction on the nearby subway (ongoing) navigating in this area is now a nightmare. Access to Powell Street in front on the hotel is very, very difficult (and I am native to SF) making loading/unloading next to impossible. Parking is $58 a night at the hotel and about $31-36 in nearby lots per night. Union Sq lot is only a block away. Front desk staff was awesome. On-site restaurant, Kuletto's is awesome. Room sizes can really vary. This stay I stayed in a regular queen room and the first one was claustrophobic. They moved us to a slightly better room that was somewhat standard size with tiny bathroom. Still a bit tight for 2 adults. I highly recommend asking about the room size when checking in. I've stayed in the suite rooms before and they are generous and well worth the upgrade if you can afford it. This hotel definitely has "character", is a bit old and creaky but has been upgraded well. Could use a bit more sprucing up (cleaner in the bathroom) and have better amenities (more towels, cookies at check-in, free coffee downstairs in the AM). The small touches would make a difference. Bathroom could definitely be cleaner, bad smell in the hallways and elevator would improve satisfaction too!
