Great deal but they over-book

Pros: It was clean, pleasantly decorated, included a full breakfast and was well located.
The hotel is a really good deal for the price, but it is recommended that you prepay for your room to make sure they don't give it away. They have a policy of overbooking, and if you are bumped they will find you another room in a different hotel for the same price. I arrived at 6:00 and my room had been given away, so I was offered a different room which was an issue because I was traveling with a second person and we requested two queen beds and were given a room with a king sized bed. Additionally, they don't have enough parking for every guest, so if you arrive late you will be redirected to a parking lot located a few blocks away.

Good for a night...

Pros: Proximity to the waterfront and to dining.
Cons: Parking situation
This place is one that you book when you simply need a place to crash for a night, maybe two. The location is great- an up and coming area down at the water, with what appeared to be lots of places to eat within walking distance. I stayed one night, on the 3rd floor, down toward the end of the hall, hoping to avoid the elevator and passers by, yet I still heard two different groups coming down my way after 3am. Another issue- you pay to park and depending on their level of occupancy, you may not find a spot if you take your car out in the evening- something I faced but eventually I got my car inside and ended up with a great spot. Speaking of parking, the lot is a tight squeeze, also. Just thought you should know. Staff was very nice and accommodating and the room was clean. Breakfast included- not terrible.

Great all around

Pros: Close restaurants, Free Internet, Free breakfast, proximity to attractions
Many reviews on this hotel commend the staff but curse the railroad. It really was not bad at all, and upon visiting with the AWESOME staff I found out that in October the trains are no longer supposed to blow their whistles. Bonus! The location was AWESOME. Close to the waterfront and shopping as well as Little Italy and public transportation. We arrived well before check in and left after check out. They were happy to store our luggage before and after. Great service. Great location.

True but manageable

I title this because I was with friends who read the reviews ahead of time and knew to expect the noise of trains going by, and possibly a clogged drain. Being proactive, they asked for a room on the front of the building, and when the drain was clogged, we asked for service to fix it. The wire for the laptop connection failed so we requested another one. Each time, the staff was on it almost immediately. Every staff member I observed was friendly and helpful and knowledgeable, and cooperative. They have a great shuttle service to help get around town, too. Food was good and food area kept clean and orderly. Room clean. I didn

Not a good value for the money

Pros: Free breakfast
Cons: Noisy
Way too noisy....next to Amtrak and the trolley. Had to REQUEST a microwave and frig. No WI-Fi in the room. The only good thing was the staff was friendly and had airport shuttle. The driver was very accomadating.

great location, at light rail crossing

Pros: Free breakfast, Close restaurants, Free Internet
great location downtown, at light rail crossing. Mexican food on north end of block awesome. Some folks might be bothered by railroad whistles, but they provide sound machine and earplugs in each room.

I thought I was on a hidden camera show

Train noise? I had stayed at this hotel 3 times before about 5 or 6 years ago and not heard a single train. This time around my wife and I were traveling with our 2 year old son, what a mistake. The train is so loud and passes by the hotel at least 5 times between midnight and 6 am. None of us could sleep. Needless to say my son's attitude was less than perfect. The next morning neighbors had the gall to complain about my son who had been crying since he was awoken at 6 am. Hotel staff sent up the maintenance worker to ask us to be quiet. Since when to maintenance workers have the people skills to handle such a delicate situation? Handled very poorly.

Train Whistles & Horns Non Stop

Big fan of Hampton Inn, but this hotel is right next to several train tracks, and the train noise never stops. All hours of the morning, day and night. Crossing gates, train whistles, commuter trains, etc. You name it, and they are blowing their horns at every intersection; 2 am, 4 am, etc. Everything else about the hotel is consistent with the Haptom Inns; friendly people, nice breakfast, clean rooms, lots of pillows, etc. But I am telling you, this is not a good place to stay if you need to sleep more than a few hours a night. I would stay here again for free.

great value, good location except for being next to train tracks

Pros: Free breakfast, Close restaurants
Cons: Noisy
Very convenient location. Clean, comfortable, good service, and great value. However, be warned that it is adjacent to the train tracks and you will hear the trains at night. At least they do provide ear plugs.
