Would Not Recommend

Upon arrriving, I was surprised to find construction workers on the roof. Immediate red flag considering it's not exactly comforting to know the house you are to stay at is being worked on. I attempted to reach the homeowner multiple times all of which to no avail. My next step was to contact VRBO and they also were not able to contact the home owner for several hours. After sitting and waiting at a nearby restaurant (4 hours post what was supposed to be initial check in time), I finally got word from the home owner and he apologized stating the construction workers were gone and that they wouldn't return for the remained of my stay. Upon returning to the VRBO, we discovered there was a massive hole in one of the windows, covered by cardboard and duct tape, being hidden by a curtain - again, not exactly comforting, especially considering this listing prided itself on having an alarm system in the house. But what's the point if someone can fit through a window? The following morning the construction workers showed up again. When we questioned them, the project manager on site told us they were given permission from the home owner to be on site for the full day. Of course when we tried to contact the home owner, it again took hours for a response. Feeling uncomfortable and unsafe in a home where construction is taking place, we were forced to leave the home and spend the day elsewhere. Later that evening is when we finally heard back from the home owner and he simply stated the workers were gone with not much else to say. Very poor communication considering people are paying to stay in your home - you would think he would have his phone on him at all times in case the VRBO customer had questions or concerns but alas we were ignored. We returned to the property later that evening only to be rudely alarmed by a prospective intruder. A woman screaming for help outside the front door, demanding that we open the door. She tried getting in through multiple doors on the property that lead to outside. You can imagine how terrifying this was considering the broken window and knowing that this said person could have entered the home if they saw the window was compromised. After a 911 call & police arrival, they stated this part of town was terribly unsafe and escorted off the property to a hotel. The home owner did nothing to compensate our stay. We paid for 3 nights and only stayed 1. I wouldn't recommend this place to my worst enemy.

Host offered no solutions to a filthy home

I rented to property to host my Father's Memorial for my family. I told the host a week before about the memorial hoping the house would be ready. I mentioned a bad review he had to him, but he said it was all good. The house was shockingly filthy. Counter and dishwasher filled with all the clean dishes that needed to be put away. Waded dish cloths, smelly sponges, food bits left in the kitchen sink. Old food in the fridge. Microwave spills. Grimy kitchen needed to be scrubbed before I could start the cooking for my event. All the floors in the house had to be swept. End tables, mirrors, glass tables. The futon we used to sit on was even missing a cushion! I was embarrassed when my family arrived even after I cleaned it. The mattresses were horrible. Hard as a rock. It is very noisy at night with street noise. I read that in another review, so I brought a white noise machine from home. The only cooking pot in the house went under the leaking bathroom sink. The bugs were horrible so we went and bought spray. I left the house early Sunday to attend to family things after having my guests there late into the night Saturday. When I got home Sunday, I messaged the host pictures and description. He said, "the cleaning crew is lazy and I fired them" BUT HE REFUSED to reimburse me the cleaning fee. I felt like that was fair since I did the cleaning. The host offered no solution to the stress he caused me when I needed to be focused on family, not cleaning his dirty house. My mistake was handling it myself and not immediately contacting the site and host. I was so busy with cooking and getting ready, it did not occur to me to contact him late Friday night when I discovered the 1st problems. I was worried I would have to either leave the house when I had all my guests coming the next day or wait for someone to show up and fix it in the middle of the night. Saturday when the sink was obviously leaking all over the floor, again, I was worried about the host sending a plumber in the middle of my memorial for my Dad. I have stayed in dozens on vacation homes and have never left a poor review. My mistake was leaving the property before contacting the host. I should have reported the issues right away. Seriously though, shame on him for doing nothing to remedy the situation. I would not trust him nor do I trust this site to stand by their properties. No customer service at all from the site. Not even an apology.

Family friendly

I really enjoyed myself at this property our kids had fun. We had a great time. The house was clean when we arrived. The only down side is that we weren't able to park in the gate because of the roof work, but everything was lovely

The pictures are slightly dated and the property isn’t kept up well. Road noise was awful, extremely loud due to the windows being paper thin.

Amazing stay!

If you don’t mind staying in the ghetto part of San Antonio and seeing prostitutes right outside the broken gate of the house then you’re at the perfect place! And of course, if you don’t mind the bag of cocaine on the window seal and the broken into garage in the back! Another very appealing plus, every single Uber we had told us about how we should not stand outside for too long and lock all the doors as soon as we get back in side! How nice for everyone to be so concerned for our safety! Here are all the other great amenities of the AWESOME place! Everything outside didn’t work, there were no paper towels, no remotes to the TVs, none of the TVs even worked, there was only the one blanket on each of the rock hard beds, there was left over old milk in the fridge, along with other VERY expired condiments YUM! There was broken glass all over the floor in the kitchen and the bathrooms so make sure to bring house shoes! It was great to see that the sheets have not been washed due to the hair ties and scrunches inside of them, along with questionable stains. What a GREAT stay!! Will definitely NOT be back. Thanks again!
