Anglophones appear to not be welcome at Le Gaspésiana... My wife and I have stayed at this hotel before, and have overlooked the rudeness of the staff as we enjoyed the location, view, and rooms. Our most recent visit was terrible, however. The view of the water is now obstructed by necessary alterations made by the municipality to prevent erosion. Fair enough - but the room that we were allotted on our most recent stay, was a nightmare. The room has not been renovated for decades, was extremely dirty, and an overall depressing place to spend a night. The most upsetting part of this experience, however, was the rudeness of the staff. We received a call in the evening as we were driving to the hotel (approx 7:30), asking what time we were arriving. The caller initially only spoke to me in french, but eventually conceded and spoke in sufficient english. I informed the caller that we were about half an hour away. She stated there would be no staff on site when we arrived, and that I would be emailed directions on how to access our room pass. Those directions arrived - solely in french. Thankfully, we were able to make sense of the text thanks to Google translate -- but the entire experience was an unpleasant reminder of the underlying linguistic tensions that still exist in Quebec. For such a large and "prestigious" hotel, however, not being able to provide reasonable service in both official Canadian languages, is a huge misstep. Last time we stay at Le Gaspésiana.

Super super clean, very comfortable, front staff very nice. My only caviate is that it is pretty expensive for a 3 star motel.
