Incredible location! We were right across the street from the giant Hallgrímskirkja church and were able to walk to all of the things to see and do in Reykjavik. That church was also the pickup spot for all of our day trip tours around the rest of the country, so it couldn't have been any more convenient. We were able to walk a block for coffees and pastries before getting our 8am buses each morning. Room, shared bathrooms and common spaces were all clean and welcoming!

This was a fine choice for lodging. It is located within easy walking distance of many restaurants and shops. The people at the desk were very nice and helpful and we really appreciated that!

Clean and comfortable, kitchens were very handy for cooking. We loved the close proximity to the church so we could wait in a warm place and rest our jet-lagged bodies while waiting for check in time. One chair in our room (faux black leather) was in very poor shape and saggy. Could do with one more seat in better shape. Was surprised to have to pay for shampoo and soap. Excellent selection of free guidebooks.

We arrived before check in, but the receptionist gave us our room early. The receptionist was also very helpful with calling us a taxi when we checked out. The property was very clean including the common areas.

We loved the deluxe room and the great location, with a view of the church from our window! It was difficult getting luggage to the upper floors 2 (Only 2nd floor for us), and this facility could benefit from an elevator. If you have only carry-on luggage, it’s probably not much of a problem. The breakfast area was sunny and bright, but the breakfast itself was extremely limited and lacking. The facility should add some additional choices. Despite the breakfast and luggage issues, we enjoyed staying here, due to the location and the quality room and facilities.

Exceptional in every way

I stayed one night at Sunna and was there just long enough to sleep, but the venue was a standout nonetheless. My room was spacious, and clean, had a lovely private bath and the best shower I'd had in my 8-day/7-night tour of Iceland. I wasn't there long enough to enjoy the common spaces but was really amazed by the offerings. Additionally, communication was great throughout; inquires were quickly answered and after-hours check-in instructions were incredibly clear. And they were so flexible about things like a delayed checkout and a request to keep my car in their lot for an additional hour after check-out. I loved everything about this guest house.

The area was very convenient. The property clean. The only issue was the rooms were a bit warm though the heat was off and the windows open. Leaving the windows open allowed the street noise in.

For a hotel as costly as this - they can provide shampoo and soap. Also, they ran out of breakfast by 8:00am. Having been a hotel for some time, they should know how much food they need. Yes, they gave us nearby bakeries that they recommended…. Which turned out to be great because a great breakfast was half the price of what the hotel charged.

Review: Guesthouse Sunna Staff are great, helpful and friendly. Cleaning staff did nice job, every day. Have pride & are lovely. I recommend the hotel. Preface: Review based on personal objective criteria and 2 past stays in Iceland. I originally made 2-night reservation at another place I stayed at before. Due to change, I could not add a day. The org hotel is higher end Price up by $40 a night at Sunna Above pay for Hilton and Marriott stays in the US In line $ with locations in Reykjavik 2 of 5 stars Shared bathroom. Hair from previous person, single floor towel. The staff clean daily, credit them. ONE TOILET, ONE SHOWER for up to 3 rooms. 2 of 5 stars Smells a bit old. 3 of 5 stars Convenient Near top of shopping street and church Walking distance to BSI bus 4 of 5 stars Rooms well taken care of. 5 of 5 stars for staff 2 glasses, 2 towels, 2 wash clothes. No TV, outlets minimal. 2 of 5 stars Breakfast and lady serving it are good. 4 of 5 stars Quiet, but not guests when they get up for restroom. “The way it is”. Door noise. 3 of 5 stars Sunna has luggage room with security code. Same PIN. No Monitoring. On your own. 2 of 5 stars Conclusion: Kept with pride. Nice location. You get what common entry guests - hair, water splashed, toilet, trash in kitchen, noise. Overall 2 of 5 stars - it is what it is. Price competitive within Iceland, not with rest of the world. Read listing!

So understand that you are living in a dormitory, akin to university or college housing with a shared bathroom and kitchen. The room was spacious enough and the cleaning staff are organized and consistent. I found the bed to be somewhat comfortable. Tje room could afford a couple more plugs for power.

We had the best experience with Sunna Guesthouse: friendly stuff, clean rooms, good breakfast and convenient location, bus stop number 8 where all the pickups for our excursions happened is just around the corner. Will highly recommend this place.
