The check in process took a long time but I knew that going into it which made it not so bad. My room never got hand towels replaced ever the entire trip but the cleaned well. The wait staff at the restaurants were so kind and sweet. Food was good.

Wrong room

Requested a wheelchair assisted room but was assigned a room on the second floor! Front desk gave my cousin a hard time about changing to the correct room. It took her about 2 hours to get in contact with the right person in regards to getting the room changed. She was then told that there was nothing they could do until the following day. This was a huge inconvenience since the reservation was for 3 nights. The room wasn’t ready until about 3pm he next day, however we were at the wedding so it wasn’t possible to switch rooms at that time. Very disappointed with Melia Caribe

Disappointing to say the least

We absolutely NEVER write reviews...we aren’t picky and it doesn’t take much to please us (my husband and I). BUT....I feel compelled to write one now...that is saying something! Pros: Pretty, clean beach/pool, enjoyable swimming, plenty of chairs and no need to get up at 7AM to grab one, wild peacocks (friendly) on the property...free reliable WIFI. Andddd that’s all I can come up with for this section. Cons: PICS and reviews online are VERY deceiving! Slow, disorganized check-in (got wrong room and took 3 hours to get the right one...and we had to wait while this happened and lost a whole pool day). Massive property, not conducive to walking, had to rely on golf carts and “trains” (slow, unreliable, creaky, leaky etc.) Property in DESPERATE need of updating and revamping. Roof leaked and power was out for 12 hours (they didn’t really seem to care and didn’t offer to compensate us). Food was meh (and we aren’t picky eaters) and liquor below bottom shelf. Top shelf is extra...as is room service. Finally, if you don’t upgrade to “the level” be prepared to be treated like a 2nd class citizen...all in all VERY disappointing. We won’t be visiting again. EVER.

Interesting stay at the Melia

Room smelled musty. Bought air freshners but they didn't do much to help. Out of three rooms that were in our party ours was just terrible. Hotel itself was clean and comfortable. Did a time share presentation, it was terrible. Lied to us to get us to go. Not what was promised.

Nice and close to the beach

My stay was very good. But the transportation arrangements from the hotel to the Airport were horrible. They never came to pick us up. I had to $60.00 for a private taxi.

Very disappointing vacation

Pros: The pool bar. The staff at the bar was friendly and helpful.
Cons: The food was very poor. Pretty much everything in that department needed a big upgrade. The fruit however was great. Locally grown I was told.
Location: Golf course was really close and no waiting for tee times, which was very unusual.
First off our check in at the resort was horribly long. We were just given our room key and a ride to our accommodations. We were not given our wrist bands and not told that the resort was divided in half. We ended up in a restaurant that was an upgrade and were told we needed wrist bands. Say what??? So back to the desk we went again to get the bands. Then at the pool we were told that we needed towel cards to get a towel. And where and when were we suppose to get those. At the check in process we were told. So back to the front desk we went again for our towel cards. Over all I thought the food was pretty bad. I love salads and the salad bar was pretty poor. The fruit I must say was the best and locally grown. I booked a delux suite with a king size bed. We got standard with 2 twins. I was afraid to complain as I felt the suite I might be moved into would be worse. Most everyone complained about the air-conditioned rooms. Temp in our room never got below 80 degrees. It's hard to cool down a concrete building in this summer heat. We did enjoy the pool with the swim up bar. I would go back to Punta Cana, but would research another resort to stay at. I think this is a good resort if you have a family. Food choice at the buffets would be good for the kids. The resort is huge, so prepared to do a lot of walking or waiting for a train ride.

OK Hotel

Pros: pool
Cons: pretty much everything
Location: shopping was the only nearby thing we did.
The destination wedding the Melia Caribe did an excellent job. As far as the rooms I was disappointed in the the amenities, for instance could not get a wash cloth the whole time I was there and the room refer was hardly stocked with anything. Check in took 3 hours in extremely hot weather and no air or fans. The pool was the place to be. Great drinks and fun people everywhere.

Close to the beach

Very good,except that I have to pay 41 dollars for room service even though I pay for all inclusive.When we call fro t desk and ask for extra towrls and blankets no one came with them.Overall very nice

Nice hotel.

Cons: The activities were limited to the same: Diving, boat trip, etc. Hotel could charge for a romantic dinner at the beach or stargazing
The Meliá hotel is one of the first hotels in Punta Cana, that's a lot of experience with their guests treat. -Bad: Rooms: clean with not so comfortable beds due to the jumpy springs and pillows. Noise: they have beautiful Peacocks all around the gardens which they make incredibly loud sounds very early. Music is always the same, without any change all the time the Salsa and reguetón. +Good. Service: very friendly staff. Hotel: Beautiful big resort. Food: Great food and lot of options Activities: Great and fun all hotel events and activities. Beach: Great. Pool: Good.
