The waiting time for check-in was very long. The lines for breakfast was very long. Waiting times were an hour in both cases. The hotel should have made better accommodations for these peak times.

nice view of port of spain

Pros: the people on staff
Cons: refinish wood floors.fix and paint entrance ceiling.remove debris from court yard.offer a continental breakfast with cost possibly built into the rate
Location: shopping,local restaurant,city tour
needs to be upgraded.while i can,i refuse to pay $20 u.s for eggs and $4 u.s for a cup of coffee.ate at local restauran

None of the 3 phones worked; hotel staff stole my.

Pros: My bed was comfy.
Cons: Everything, especially how they handle theft.
Location: You need a car. There isn't much to do without having transportation.
I am from Trinidad, but never stayed at the Hilton. I returned home with my fiancee, and son to celebrate our wedding. None of the phones in the room worked properly: could call my in-laws on the floor below, they said there was ice on the floors , but it turned out to only be on one floor so i had to keep going to the bar to get ice. When people called my room and left messages, I couldn't retrieve them; the hotel staff volunteered to listen to it and pass it on (yeah, right), or to forward the message, except the staff spoke through the first half of the message telling me i was connected. Lastly, on my wedding day, I returned to my room to discover that some of my U.S. dollars had been stolen. They said they did an investigation but they didn't look at the cameras, instead they said they searched the locker of the housekeeper (of course, that's exactly where they will hide money) when I issued a statement it wasn't given to the right person, I ad to go back and forth between the police and the hotel staff. To make a long story short, they didn't resolve my situation by the time I left Monday morning, but the hotel was kind enough to call me in the U.S. to tell me that there was "nothing more to be done." I would stay at this hotel again unless I absolutely need to. I don't recommend it to anyone who wants a relaxing, worry-free vacation. And, their food is extremely expensive, and takes forever to be served.

Hotel from hell

Pros: All the other services except for front desk and house keeping they only made the bed, they did not refill anything like soap coffee towels etc.
Cons: They should check the rooms before check in and make sure they are clean with no bugs laying dead on the rug and a working a/c. Elevators broken a lot
Location: I liked it no complaints
I checked in late the first night. I noticed a funny smell to the room. I checked around and there was a putle of water by the balcony door behind the desk. I called front desk to let them know I wanted to change rooms the next day. I was too tired to change that night. I was told they didn't have anything available and said they would have my carpet clean. The next day I called and demanded to be changed. After over ten people came to verify about the soaking wet rug they gave me a smaller room but the a/c was not working properly and In top of everything there was a huge dead bug by the sofa. Then after I showerd I wanted to dry my hair there was no hair drier, I sent for one they send me a broken one. I had to call and complaint again. Like an hour later I got a hair drier. That was my Tuesday and Wednesday experience. Thursday and Friday were ok. Saturday night I got to the room late and tired there was no a/c again and the room smell bad. It was too late to call then So I called early on Sunday morning on a sweat. Finally on Sunday the a/c got fixed. Monday was ok but on Tuesday when I was checking out they wanted to charge me for laundry services I didn't use. I couldn't believed it. I kindly told the woman in the front desk they should at list offer me a complementary dinner for all the inconviniences I when through. They down grade me not upgrade me like other hotels do when something goes wrong. That is the reason I will never recommend Hilton anywhere in the world.

Hit and Miss

There are many things to like about the upsidedown Hilton, Port of Spain. The views are breathtaking and the front desk staff, concierge and bell staff is outstanding. The rooms are very modern and business friendly, but for the second time in as many stays within the past six months it stunk of mildew. The AC set in the On position was not helping to dry things out. I do not appreciate the wifi charges, but am able to make use of the personal hotspot on my phone and would recommend this solution to anyone who frequently travels on business. The deck overlooking the port is to die for. Hard to beat this spot for a coffee or cocktail. But the restaurant is mostly a miss as far as service and culinary selection is concerned. Enjoyed a very good late lunch upon my arrival last Monday, but had to get up to find the server in order to pay. The buffet Wednesday night was satisfactory. I am not a buffet lover, but the selection was adequate and the quality of the food was also good. Self service is a good bet at this hotel as there is no telling what the wait staff may be otherwise busy doing. My associates and I were headed out on the 2:50 flight to MIA on Thursday, so we agreed to meet in the restaurant at 11:00. When the first of us arrived, he was told that the restaurant does not begin lunch service until noon and that he would have to order room service if he/we wanted food prior to our departure. The four of us assembled on the deck and after calling for room service were met by the waiter. We ordered our drinks and then our food as soon as the drinks were served. We made it clear to the server that we had to be served and eat within 50 minutes as our transportation to the airport would arrive at noon. We ordered sandwiches in order to facilitate timing. At 11:35 I called room service and reiterated the urgency of our order. I was told that the food was on the way to us at that moment. Approximately ten minutes later the server appeared and asked for five more minutes. We told him to cancel the order and bring us the check for the drinks. He returned momentarily and offered to pick up the check. That may have been handled properly, but the fact was that we were leaving hungry and the hotel had not met the reasonable expectation of the business-traveler clientele to which it purportedly caters.  One elevator was out of service in the tower in which I was staying the entirety of my stay, and I took three cold showers during my stay as only on one occasion was there any hot water available. I am not saying I would not go back, but this particular stay did not meet my expectation as far as business accommodations or Hilton Hotels is concerned.

No elevator for 3 days

I was at the Trinidad Hilton for 2 nights and 3 days. The 2 elevators in my wing didn't work for the three days and no one really seemed to know when they would be fixed. I walked from the 9th floor to the 3rd floor cross over several times before a bell boy showed me the service elevator. No sign, no apology was offered for the first two days. Finally some one put a handwritten sign on one of the elevators saying out of order and to take the service elevator. I shared the service elevator with dirty clothes, soapy water and mops for the next two days. Still no acknowledgement from management who didn't seem to know much when I asked, including, "isn't that fixed yet?".
