6 bedroom farmhouse in Pommiers-Moulons, near Jonzac, Charente Maritime, 10 minutes drive to the nearest town and golf course. This beautifully renovated 18th century Charentaise stone farmhouse is in a beautiful setting on the edge of a hamlet and surrounded by unspoilt countryside. It has been sensitively restored and contains all the modern comforts one would find in their own home.

Your private pool is just 5 metres from your back door with an outside patio dining area nearby. The private garden has a large grassed area for outdoor games.

3 of the 6 bedrooms are on the ground floor and all are ensuite. The more astute among you may note that there are in fact beds for 19. The rules regarding insurance and safety limit the occupation to 15 people. The upside is that there is a lot of choice and flexibility when it comes to who sleeps where. All the beds are prepared and ready for your arrival. The ground floor has a number of steps between rooms due to the slope of the outside terrain. If any guests have mobility issues it is advised to contact the owner to discuss any access issues and suitabilty.

The Taxe de sejour (tourist tax) for holidays taken in 2023 is 88 cents per adult per night. Children under 18 are exempt. Ensure that you list the correct number of adults in your initial enquiry to avoid overpayment of this tax.

A home from home

We arrived to a lovely welcome by Malcolm. The pictures were very accurate. The farmhouse was beautiful and rustic. The views were gorgeous. We had everything we needed for a group family stay. Shops weren’t too far away. Thank you Malcom it was fab.

We had a wonderful 2 weeks at Chez Fauret. Thank you Malcolm for your welcome and your hospitality . A lovely tranquil spot, with the possible exception of late night music once a week from the adjacent Chez Gigi restaurant.!Lovely clean pool, perfect for all the family. As long as you ask Malcolm, he’ll give you advice as to where to go to get the most from the area. Lovely beaches, historic cities, fab Chateaus. We were lucky to find Chez Fauret, and with just 7, and then 5 of us, there were still plenty of empty beds!! As long as you have a car and are happy to drive, it’s a perfect place for family hols, and having such a genial and helpful host really made it better . We loved getting to know you, and the cats as well!! Merci Malcolm

Adventures deep in the Aquitaine countryside

Our host Malcolm had quite the project to restore this historic property to modern standards, but he has turned it into a good representation of French country casual: original stone walls and wooden beams, but with en suite baths in all bedrooms (very welcome), and a large combined kitchen and dining area in which we spent a great deal of our time. It would be very suitable for groups considerably larger than our 6, as the large bedrooms with multiple beds would easily accommodate a dozen or more - a great option for several families with children. For touring, while the Pyrenees and Basque country require some determined driving, the rest of the area was readily accessible. Our visits included Bordeaux, La Rochelle, Saint Emilion, the Arcachon bay, Angouleme, La Rochefoucauld, and others - without spending too much of the day in the car. Malcolm was a very congenial host, with both advice and stories of the area, and of the property's interesting history. We recommend this property fully - not as a luxury accommodation! - but as a solid example of country living, for groups of at least 6 or more.

Très bien équipé, seul bémol la piscine est située au nord et en plein vent. Les jours sans vent c’est très certainement agréable d’en profiter. Les pièces sont spacieuses mais toutes les chaises de la pièce de vie sont très lourdes et encombrantes. Malcom est très sympa.

Des espaces pour chacun.....ages allant de 4 à 80 ans....chacun trouvant sa place....chambres et literies confortables.....cuisine complete une fois que tous les ustensiles ont ete decouverts....un petit bemol sur la fraicheur des frigidaires ,sur l'entourage de la piscine, et le menage à notre arrivee dans la maison....mais Malcom,le proprietaire a toujours ete charmant.

Nous avons passé un agréable séjour dans cette ferme entièrement rénovée. Les enfants ont pu profité de la piscine privé. Nous avons passé un bon séjour. La maison est grande et confortable, notre hôte disponible. Des points d’amélioration : La piscine mériterait d’être refaite car vétuste: il y a un peu de rouille au fond de la piscine et les planches en tek autour de la piscine se sont désolidarisées à plusieurs endroits, ce qui oblige de faire attention quand on y marche. Le barbecue était bien, ce serait bien de penser de mettre à disposition une brosse pour gratter la grille entre deux barbecues. Une cabine de douche ne fonctionnait pas à l’étage mais il y en avait suffisamment pour ne pas être gêner d’aller dans une autre. Très bon séjour pour toute notre famille. Merci Malcom.

Très grande maison au calme très joliment rénovée. De l’espace pour un large groupe de personne. Le jardin est très agréable et la piscine la cerise sur le gâteau. Conforme à l’annonce. Emplacement tres sympathique conforme à nos attentes. La piscine est petite mais suffisante pour en profiter avec une jolie vue . Un bon week end pendant lequel nous avons pu faire la fete sans soucis. Devant un beau paysage, la maison est confortable et fraîche. Avec ses 6 chambres et leurs salles de bain privatives, elle permet de loger facilement 4 familles pouvant garder une certaine intimité. le jardin est grand pour les jeux de ballon et de pétanque et la piscine est bien sécurisée et propre. le matériel de la cuisine est correct. Par contre, les roulettes du plateau bas du lave-vaisselle sont défectueuses. Les autres réparations (lattes de terrasse) ont été effectuées de suite. Point négatif, nous n'avons pas eu de WiFi de la semaine, contrairement à l'annonce. Point à améliorer: Fournir des boîtes, genre tupperware, pour les restes de nourriture.

Parfait pour une réunion familiale

La maison, avec ses 6 chambres, permet de recevoir une dizaine de personne, ce qui fut parfait pour notre réunion familiale. La piscine est un atout supplémentaire. Le cadre est très reposant, avec ses champs à perte de vue. C'est un bel endroit, coupé du monde et relaxant. Malcom est un hôte très sympathique. Il a accepté de jouer le jeu car nous faisions une surprise pour l'anniversaire de notre mère. Elle ne s'est absolument pas doutée que tous ses enfants s'étaient donné rendez-vous pour ses 80 ans.
