Inaccurate Listing and Poor Experience with Property Manager
We booked this last minute for Easter with in-laws and small children after enjoying the neighborhood before (all single-family homes except a small area of townhomes).
In case the listing is not updated, you should know that this home is nice, but you will share the home and property with other renters unless you rent both floors. This was unclear to me as I had filtered by “house,” the photos showed the entire home, no distinct entrances, price was in line with other entire home rentals, and info about the shared property was on the third tab, deeper into the description. Note that this area is not zoned for apartments either. Updating the primary description, photos, and title to more clearly reflect what is being purchased would help in alleviating confusion.
I realized the mistake during the check-in process after being texted to go to a non-VRBO site with more details. I tried reaching the property manager about the issue and even offered to rent the second area. When I finally did (could not reach them for awhile), my experience became far worse as the pm berated and yelled at me for not being able to read. I had to ask multiple times if I could rent the second area before they finally revealed that it is occupied (not sure if long-term rental or owner). They later called me back but hung up on me. It was a bizarre and extremely uncomfortable experience. If I were the homeowner, I would want a property manager who treated my guests with kindness and respect.
