Unfriendly, hidden fees, filthy pool

The front desk staff was very unfriendly. Never smiled. They were rude to my adult sons. The front desk were irritated that I booked through hotels.com. they told me to call hotels.com and cancel then rebook if I did not like the conditions. The hotel charges me much more than what hotels.com said I would be required to pay at check-in. Also the website never mentioned $00 per day per car for parking. Never mentioned a $00 resort fee per room per day. So many additional changes. No onsite parking available. I had to use the valet who parked off-site. On a Saturday night I waited 35 minutes for the valet to retrieve my car. When we returned it took another 20 minutes to get through the valet line to have the car parked again. The swimming pool had a scum ring all along the waterline and on the in pool chairs. The glass wall between the pool deck and the beach was filthy. The front desk personal never ,I mean never smiled. I have stayed at some of the best resorts in the world and some small highway motels. I almost always am welcomed with smile. Not here. The staff made me feel bad because I booked through I quote, "an Expedia group website" . The staff does not like that I booked at discount. Anyway , they steal any discount you may have gotten with surprise destination fees , parking fees, resort fees and I never received a final bill at checkout. It has been 2 days since I checked out and they are still holding my $000 per day, per room incidentals deposit.

I was supposed to have a check in for 4:00 that I was told was guaranteed. Check in never happened until 5:00. I was told because I requested a handicap room which I never did and they were still cleaning because of a late check out.

Exactly what we needed for a romantic getaway, they had our room ready by 12:30 for an early check in. I was not a huge fan of the valet only parking as I prefer not allowing anyone to drive my vehicle but that’s not a complaint just a preference, drinks at the pool side were made to perfection. Shower was absolutely amazing!

Terrible stay. As an elite Marriott member I will not be back. I checked in at midnight. I asked for a late check out. I was told noon was latest and the lady was rude about it. Then, I asked for self parking & I was told no, there is no self parking. It’s $40 to valet. Annoyed I was like fine as I had no other options. It cost me more to park than rent the car. Then I was told oh you still owe $30 for a resort fee to which I was told I could use because the restaurants & bars & everything was closed after I checked in & by the time I would also check out. They only have 1 restaurant that is open for dinner & pool bar which doesn’t open until lunch time. This was the worse stay ever. Never again.

Beach front was nice, valet only parking was terrible had to wait 37 minutes to get my vehicle, then they lost my valet tag. Totally inconvenient if I needed anything from my vehicle had to wait for valet service. No microwave, could not get desired beverage as tapper was malfunctioning. The front desk servive was very good. No hot tub pool was shaded by building so no sun later in day including the beach. Would not book this hotel in the future. Also Expedia did not inform me that it was valet parking only and a $42 a day charge. Noisy facility, loud piped in music everywhere, road noise, construction noise early AM backup truck beeping starting 7 AM. Choose another facility!

They only thing I didn't like was there is no parking at the hotel. Very nice, great staff, wonderful outside bar, fast service, beautiful beach. Lots of stores and restaurants within walking distance. We had reserved a kind but ended up with a double with beach view.

An Experience

Beautiful resort but a lot of corners are being cut to save on expenses. No hot tub, Kitchenette with no microwave or fridge. One mirror in each room and extremely understaffed bar & poolside . Also valet needs ALOT of work so have patience. Menu is ok but was designed by chef from Finland which doesn’t really fit Daytona Beach’s aesthetic but was still pretty good food. If you’re just looking for somewhere visually aesthetically pleasing this is the place to stay.

Renaissance experience

I really didn't expect much for the price and right after Daytona's Bike Week, but what a great hotel. The room was very nice with an awesome view of the ocean and city. Great shower and bathroom, too. The front desk staff was super accommodating, and the restaurant host and servers were the same. I ate dinner and breakfast and the food was spot on. Just a great stay.
