Clean, comfortable, but a bit noisy

Pros: Proximity to attractions we were seeking; clean, comfortable, good bar, near BART.
Cons: The room took awhile to cool down, but I'm not sure how you'd improve that and conserve energy at the same time.
Location: Great location, BART is just a few steps away. Chez Panisse is a 15-minute walk.
We got a corner room on the second floor. We live in the country, so to be fair, it was a bit noisy for us. I could have asked for a different room. The drapes did a pretty good job of noise dampening. The room was a nice size, with a comfortable bed and spacious bathroom. Room service for breakfast was good. The temperature control was a bit fussy, but eventually cooled the room to a very comfortable level. We did not eat in the restaurant, although we did have some nice drinks and bar food. We were surprised that the bar switched off liquor at 11:30pm I think, and served only beer.

Over priced with a great view of homeless people

First room we booked was smaller than a motel 6 room but costs $250 a night in the middle of the week. I complained of the room size and did get a upgrade to a slightly bigger room but they made me pay $10 more, I would not have stayed at this hotel but it was late and the wife and kids were tired. When we finally laid down to relax and watch some TV, only 5 channels worked, I called the front desk and was told no one was on duty that knew how to fix the TV, add insult to injury.

Front desk staff was very friendly, welcoming and took the time to talk about the history of the hotel.

This hotel is in a great location in Berkeley. Staff is friendly, helpful and welcoming. The only drawback is that they do not have valet parking.

Quality in the heart of Berkeley

Pros: Close restaurants, Free Internet, Quiet
WE will stay here again. The only problem with this hotel is the lack of parking... The garage across the street charges $14 for overnight so if your don't want to pay it, you search for street parking... The hotel was great and the room very comfortable.

Nice Place

Pros: Close restaurants, Free Internet
The hotel was recently renovated so it's beautiful, especially the lobby and restaurant. The rooms are on the smaller side, but very clean and totally acceptable. The service was fine except for one hick-up. We checked in early to 2 rooms and one of the rooms had not been cleaned yet. Sheets/towels/trash was strewn about and it took them a really really long time to clean it. Thankfully, we had the other room to hang out in. The location is great.

Nice hotel in a convenient location to UC Berkeley and to BART

Pros: Close restaurants, Free Internet
The hotel was conveniently located next to the downtown Berkeley BART stop. It was easy to get to from the Oakland Airport. Also, it was close to UC Berkeley where my conference was. It was an easy walk to various ethnic, delicious restaurants. The free internet only worked with my laptop and not my iPad. I believe there was a way to make it work but I got put on hold for fifteen minutes before I hung up without speaking to anyone. I tried again, they said they'd send someone, but no one arrived. I was having trouble with my laptop until I realized you had to use internet explorer to get the wifi to work. Other than that, I thought the place was great.

Fantastic for a short stay

Pros: Close restaurants, Quiet, great bar
The hotel was nicely located and clean, the staff were extremely nice and efficient. No valet parking, had to use the parking lot across the street, which actually worked out fine. The lobby is beautiful and has a great bar and snack area. Evidently it's a hot happy hour spot. My room had no view and was very small, especially the bathroom, which was fine for me since I was only there one night, for business. If I'd been there on vacation, I would have been disappointed. But the price was right for the accommodation, and I would definitely stay there again. Oh yeah, there was a Starbuck's right around the corner, a 30 second walk - Booyah!

Beautiful, clean, cozy, convenient, and green.

Pros: Close restaurants, Quiet, beautifully decorated
Cons: lot of homeless folks outside
This hotel was perfect for me just traveling for fun and business on a long F-M weekend. It was quiet, clean, and green and had everything you could need. There are many restaurants within blocks as this hotel is in the heart of downtown Berkeley. The hotel staff were friendly and professional.
