Wish I could give *more* than a 5

Pros: Quiet, clean, warm vibe ... taxi and subway right there. Economical for NYC. Cool bar and "library" room. Ideal home base to explore city!
Cons: Nothing worth noting.
Location: Upper west side: Columbia U,St. John the Divine, Beacon Theatre, amazing French pastry shops. Convenient to museums and all midtown attractions.
Some folks don't have NYC hotel experience. We do. It is tricky to find a hotel that is not noisy, with a decently sized room and a convenient location. The NYLO has all this and more . We could access Central and Riverside Parks, museums, the wonderful, historic Beacon theatre. We saw a major rock band (Steely Dan) play there ... 3 blocks from the hotel. No problem with a Fire station being nearby ... to occasionally see big red truck 40 pull in and out. Hotel had funky, warm, friendly vibe. Staff was usually prompt and courteous. Our 12th floor room was clean, modern and perfectly quiet. Could not have been more comfortable and better pleased with our choice of the NYLO. Four thumbs up!

Close to great shops and restaurants.

Pros: I enjoyed having a light on the headboard for reading so I didn't have to get up and really liked the bed. Wonderful sleep.
Cons: Water ran out from under shower door onto bathroom floor. Maybe a new 'sweep' at bottom of door would help.
NYLO is a lovely hotel with the best mattresses ever. Nice location within walking distance to good restaurants and attractions. Staff was pleasant and helpful.

Always a great stay

Pros: Locale, decor, comfort
Cons: Bar could be better staffed (need more and table service would be great!) and stocked (no blood marys because they didn't have tomatoe juice).
Location: Close to Central Park, Museum of Natural History, Lincoln Center, great restaurants along Columbus, subway station on 72nd, Beacon Theater
My husband and I discovered this "gem" a couple of years ago and have returned several times. This time I visited with my mom and sisters and we squeezed in to a double room - we were pleasantly surprised at the amount of storage the room provided - plenty of room for our 4 suitcases to be spread out and little cubbies to hold even more of our stuff. The beds are always super comfortable and the rooms are quiet. The bar is always one of our favorite hang outs, but must admit it felt a bit understaffed this trip. Can't beat the locale - close to park, subway, Lincoln Center and many great places to eat.

Clean hotel with cool vibe

If your checklist includes a clean hotel with a laidback vibe, great UWS location a few blocks off central park at a reasonable price, then the Nylo is your hotel. Comfy beds, contemporary design and a welcoming lobby that includes a cool bar completes the experience. We stayed during NYE with our kids and it proved to be the perfect spot for their first trip to NYC.

Great location for why we were there

Pros: Ramona at the front desk was a sweetheart! She did everything she could do to make it right.
Cons: They seem to be a bit understaffed. Response time to requests made by calling to front desk was non existent. Shaun didn't deliver the fan he promised
We actually really liked the hotel. Good vibe, adequate accommodations, good location for our visit's purposes. But the AC never really worked in our room, and when we asked for it to be checked out we had to call 3 times and then complain in person to get ANY response. They finally delivered a fan to our room after our 4th complaint and failing to deliver it after our 3rd complaint. And the bar was understaffed. Service was very slow.

Modern appeal that delivers well

Love this place - we stayed here last year and didn't hesitate to return. Locale is convenient - close to park, museums, subway and any amenity that you need. Rooms are just the right size and are appropriately finished. The bar here is one of our favorites - aleays friendly and knowledgeable bartenders and an option of sitting arrangements. We will rerun again.

Satisfactory Hotel in a Great Location

Pros: The rooms were tidy and clean. Appeared to be newly remodeled, and renovated. It provides essentials.
Cons: Should not have to ask for amenities. We had to ask for a mini fridge. Needs silverware, and plates for those who choose to order in.
Location: Great Location! Aside from being near the typical attractions, there is restaurants and a comedy club within blocks of the hotel.
The hotel is in a great location in reference to surrounding attractions. Great places to eat within a blocks distance. The hotel is on Broadway, and the closest subway station is mapped so that going to the surrounding areas is fairly easy and convenient. We only spent 5 days in NY, and did not cram pack things in our schedule. We were able to do a lot of sight seeing, visiting landmarks, shows, and be sure to book your free tickets for live TV shows in advance. We only used a taxi for our trip to and from the airport because it can add up quickly and become expensive. The unlimited rides metro card for the subway is your ideal transportation.

Gorgeous, clean, close to everything

Pros: rooftop terrace, lobby bar, lobby live music, friendly staff
Cons: incidentals were a bit high
Location: RIGHT next to central park, short walk to MANY incredible restaurants, subway stations nearby, right in the heart of the upper west side.
staff was SO helpful and sincere, facility and rooms were modern and gorgeous, loved the layout of the lobby, live music and a baby grand piano and full bar. rooftop terrace was small but awesome, had a cool view of the city. GREAT location, close to the best pizza I've ever eaten (Coppola's West) and s few streets from central park and two subway stations. Hotel was also right across the street from a CVS. Our rooms were ALWAYS cleaned and restocked, even if we'd been gone only a couple hours. showers were huge and bathroom was beautifully decorated. LOVED the extensive light choices in the rooms, lots of options. overall we really loved staying here and they were very accommodating.

Quiet. Excellent location.

Pros: Convenience.
Cons: Rooms could use a chair.
We have stayed at the NYLO several times and love it. It is a short walk from the subway, Zabars, Lincoln Center and everything else. It is amazingly quiet and private. We plan to stay here again soon.
