A short walk to Central Park, close to museums, and a five-minute drive to Lincoln Center. Architecturally interesting neighborhood with unique eating establishments.

Nice boutique good atmosphere

Great “boutiquey” hotel with amazing front desk staff - especially Tasha - who kept track of me all week. Very friendly folks. The hotel is on a quiet street between Broadway and Amsterdam. About 3 blocks to Central Park. If the Upper Westside you want it’s a great location. Otherwise it’s a cab ride to Times Square and it’s about 30 mins ride downtown. Plan for that. Lobby bar is a nice atmosphere but not impressed with the service. Bartenders don’t seem to ever be interested in serving outside the bar. I never saw anyone serving in the area at all. Very disappointing restaurant - Serafina. I saw a couple of Serafina’s in town so I think it’s a “Mediterranean “ chain of sorts. They need their own place. There is a good pub around the corner- Amsterdam Ale House. Also a good French bakery on Broadway (I think) for coffee and breakfast. One big negative - no counters in the bathroom! Can a girl get a counter for her stuff?! I don’t know if this a new trend, but a woman needs counters! Small but totally fine rooms. Very quiet. We enjoyed it.

Fantastic Hotel in a great neighborhood

Absolutely loved this hotel. It was charming and everyone was super nice and helpful. They open up the bar area if it’s nice out so that you can access it from the street - very cool. The rooms are clean and modern and the beds are comfortable. Will be staying here again, for sure. 10/10

Helpful staff - allowed us to store our luggage and made an effort to get us an earlier check-in. Comfortable lobby with bar! Great location convenient to Central Park & upper West side dining and museums.

Great location

Pros: location
Cons: took a while for the water to warm up and I hate getting a room that faces a wall.
I have stayed here many times and I like the rooms and the location. When I book on discount travel sites and get the cheaper rates the hotel tries to give me a room facing a wall or with almost no sunlight.

Dear Stuart, Great to hear that you enjoy our convenient location in the Upper West Side. However, I'm so sorry about the issues you had controlling the water temperature. I'm sorry too that your most recent room was not what you expected. We will be looking up your guest profile to make a note of your preferences—I understand a brighter room with a view is a priority for you, so we'll do our best to welcome you back to a room you'll find more comfortable going forward. Warm regards, Connie

Location and Conveniences a plus

Pros: Room cleanliness, staff, location
Location: Beacon Theater, Subway line 2 blocks away to get downtown, restaurants
The fact that the NYLO is two blocks from #1 subway line, has a CVS across the street (open 24 hrs). for snacks and needs, UPS Store, Staples and Marshal's and a variety of restaurants within walking distance made my active 3 night stay perfect. I loved the lobby lounges /bar to relax or have fun. The staff were all professional and helpful. Next time I'll check the calendar for the nearby Beacon Theater. This older building has remodeled rooms with stainless steel and simplistic enclosed cubbies rather than dressers. I had a king bed with ample floor space. The only drawback for some may be the lack of counter space in a bathroom with only a single sink, but good lighting and modern tile and shower. The attached Serafina restaurant was excellent food served all meals and delivered to the rooms. I definitely will stay there again.

Great style and location

The location was great. Near the park and Broadway. It is between two subway stations for a quick ride to any other site. Plenty of places to eat and things to see. I also loved the style of my room. The air conditioner was rather loud. But this was a perfect way to cover the noise of the city. A happy accident. I would recommend this hotel to anyone.

Wish I could give *more* than a 5

Pros: Quiet, clean, warm vibe ... taxi and subway right there. Economical for NYC. Cool bar and "library" room. Ideal home base to explore city!
Cons: Nothing worth noting.
Location: Upper west side: Columbia U,St. John the Divine, Beacon Theatre, amazing French pastry shops. Convenient to museums and all midtown attractions.
Some folks don't have NYC hotel experience. We do. It is tricky to find a hotel that is not noisy, with a decently sized room and a convenient location. The NYLO has all this and more . We could access Central and Riverside Parks, museums, the wonderful, historic Beacon theatre. We saw a major rock band (Steely Dan) play there ... 3 blocks from the hotel. No problem with a Fire station being nearby ... to occasionally see big red truck 40 pull in and out. Hotel had funky, warm, friendly vibe. Staff was usually prompt and courteous. Our 12th floor room was clean, modern and perfectly quiet. Could not have been more comfortable and better pleased with our choice of the NYLO. Four thumbs up!

Close to great shops and restaurants.

Pros: I enjoyed having a light on the headboard for reading so I didn't have to get up and really liked the bed. Wonderful sleep.
Cons: Water ran out from under shower door onto bathroom floor. Maybe a new 'sweep' at bottom of door would help.
NYLO is a lovely hotel with the best mattresses ever. Nice location within walking distance to good restaurants and attractions. Staff was pleasant and helpful.
