Family Time Well Spent

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: If you are looking for an affordable place with a great view, this is it! There is an unobstructed view of the ocean from the front deck, but the view on the creek side is BEAUTIFUL! For those who love to fish, just sit right on the dock and cast your rod. There is ample parking, and a beautiful deck on both the front and back for you to enjoy the sea breeze. The ocean and pier is within walking distance. 16 people can sleep comfortably. The house is quaint but charming. We hope to be back really soon!

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: For the price, the property was good. However, the beds were atrocious and needed to be replaced. While we were there they were working on ordering new sliding doors which were much needed. But, the place was clean, in a very nice location and we were able to enjoy both the canal and beach except for the one day of beach restoration and of course the weather. (Also, be careful of one of the back steps . It needs repairing.)

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: My family enjoyed The Boat House. It is open, the rooms are a good size and best of all, it is on the inlet and close to the beach. All rooms are large and spacious.The house was clean but very musty. It took a couple of days to air out. It has a lot of kitchen amenities and that was great. The sliding door is one bedroom was broken. The note said it would be repaired but it was not fixed the week we were there.We enjoyed the large front porch facing the beach and the large screened in back porch. I do have one major complaint, the refrigerator did not work properly. The check-in instructions tells you to put the setting one notch above normal, if you put it to cold it will not work. The instructions said to avoid opening the door often. Really, 16 people for one week and you say do not open the doors. I see why.This house sleeps 16 people and the rental fee is not cheap. I feel like we were cheated. You would think they could pay to put in a refrigerator that works. We were there for a week and the ice maker never completely filled with ice, we had to buy ice daily to keep our water cold, we purchased a cake with whipped icing and had to keep it cold, the icing ran off. We were not happy with that. $1,400 plus and no cold refrigeration and rusty shelves. I took pictures of to prove that fact.Replace that item and I would give it a 5 star.We chose this house because we like to fish and we can do that from our back yard. Garden City is great place to vacation. A nice place to take the family for a good meal at an affordable price, Chelsea Jo's. I would recommend this house but without a refrigerator that does not work properly, I would say keep looking.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The boat house was in a great location. We were satisfied with the house, site unseen, had no choice but to be satisfied. The place really needs some work. The outside entrance door was hanging up on opening, we worked on it and got it working better. The windows blinds on the canal side were tore up and stuffed under bed and closets. No privacy in those rooms. The outside decks appear to have not been cleaned in a month. I could go on, suggest pay attention to the upkeep, a little work and it would be a good place.

Garden City Realty provided great customer service throughout the entire rental process. The house is nicely located an easy walk to the beach. The house desperately needs a washer and dryer. There was water leaking on the pavement underneath the house (coming from the locked portion, maybe AC unit?) The mattresses in the the two rooms with two beds each were very loud (definitely time for replacement).

However, the beds/mattresses in the front two bedrooms (the rooms with 2 beds) were uncomfortable; I recommend that the owner upgrade to better beds/mattresses. I would also recommend some anti-slip applicators in the shower, as the shower floors were slippery when wet.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The Boat House is in a great location and an easy house layout. On and off for 21 years we have stayed there. Improvements have been made, furniture, flooring, two king beds and a small dishwasher has been installed. Nice touches, but the small things, like bugs and termites I fought all week, four beds all double made horrible squeaky sounds and very uncomfortable. We wanted to enjoy the carport area with hammocks but there’s no plug- in sockets for radios or fans. No washer and dryer, but I knew that. It would be really nice if just a small stack space saver one could be installed. I made a list and called maintenance they were nice and fast. But, hot water leaks and bugs had to be addressed later. We did dock our boat there, but the low tide was a concern. It is a comfy layout for our family, would love for it to have another upgrade and deep cleaning. Location and layout I would recommend. Garden City Realty is and has been friendly and helpful.

The location is great for walking access to beach, pier and Sam’s Corner. Porches have a Beautiful view of either the Inlet or the ocean. Could definitely use some new rocking chairs or outdoor furniture. The beds are not comfortable and could definitely use updated mattresses. Some of our guest went and purchased memory foam mattress pads .I would say the house looked like it was the end of a busy Summer season..

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Seven married men shared the house starting the week of daylights saving time. The house proved comfortable for socializing. As for sleeping arrangements, you better be friends with your roomie as two groups will have to share a kings size bed. The info said the house would sleep 10-12 but not the case if you need privacy during your sleep. The double beds(4) had out dated spring mattresses that proved noisy and soft. The only other issue was no washer/dryer. If you’re a family with kids and staying here it might be a little much carrying clothes to a corner venue. The location was great, the dock out back was great and overall we had a great trip. Replace the mattresses and add washer/dryer and this would be an awesome place to stay.

Great view of the beach from the front porch and amazing inlet view from the back porch. We had a lot of fun fishing from the dock. The location is great with a short walk to the pier, arcade, and shops. We contacted the rental management service along with maintenance for a couple of issues and they were very accommodating and corrected the issues promptly. We look forward to our next stay and would recommend to anyone.

Roach House

Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: I never knew that there were so many different roaches until I stayed here. The location was great. The view was wonderful. Light switches going no where doing nothing. The ceiling fans in the bedrooms were noisy and wobbled around. We had a stopped up drain in one of the bathrooms and the service guy fixed that right away. The furniture was so dirty we had to buy sheets to put on them to feel safe enough to sit on. The floor was sandy which you understand at the beach until we decided to clean them to find that we were walking on filth, hair and black dirt is what we clean up with swifters more that a half a pack of the wet pads. Very disappointed in our stay since every evening and morning was a challenge chasing down roaches. I'm sorry for the negative review but maybe if other people would review honestly I would not have stayed here.

Overall a great property

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Overall The Boat House is a great property if it fits your needs. It's on the marsh so you can fish/crab off the dock and it's a good spot to launch kayaks (check the tides first though, during low tide launching or landing would be tough with the low water level). Public beach access is a quick walk, straight out the front door and across 2 fairly slow streets. There's plenty to do in the area though you don't really have to leave the rental with the kitchen to cook in and the marsh and beach to explore. The AC worked great, there was not a bug to be seen which is amazing for a marsh area, and upon walking in it smelled clean; no musty beach house smell at all. The water in the shower gets HOT, even with everyone using it back to back before heading out for dinner, and the water pressure is good. The house condition is good; it's a beach rental that's been in service for a while, so it's not in mint condition, but it's clean and the appliances worked great. While it's nothing fancy, it was a comfortable fit for our crew of 7 with plenty of parking and enough seating.Minor nit picking, but not having a washer and dryer is a small downside. With the beach and marsh you'll want to bring plenty of clean clothes to change into. The dock is small so it can limit the number of people sitting on it and fishing, and during low tide it sits on the mud with a tilt towards the water. An included grill would be nice as there's plenty of space outside. Some of the outside seating could use updating to something newer and a bit more comfortable. The sliding glass door to the back porch was a bit of a bear to open and close.Overall we had a great week and would consider the house again. None of the minor cons prevented an enjoyable week, and the rental agency team were helpful and very nice.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Overall we enjoyed our stay at The Boat House. The house had plenty of room. Bedrooms were all a nice size. We enjoyed sitting on the screened porch overlooking the inlet with our coffee in the morning. In the description it stated new living room furnishings. I did not feel that was an accurate statement due to the wear and a few stains. The ceiling fans thru out the house needed work. Either they made loud noises where you did not want run them or you could not turn the fan on because the pull string was broken. I would suggest that the furniture in the screen porch and front porch be replaced. We were also there during King Tide. Beware that the inlet waters will come into the backyard and the street in front of house will flood.

Would not stay here again beware of roaches

Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: This house even this it’s “updates” is completely outdated. There were giant humps under the floors making all of the flooring uneven when you walk. The bed are rock hard and you can feel the springs in them. If you plan on cooking while there they didn’t have much needed to cook certain meals the cookware is all older so there hasn’t been any new stuff put in. It is a great location very quick walk to the beach and we can see the ocean from the front deck. However the worst part and hopefully they take care of this I know roaches are common in the south but not like this place! They were everywhere! In the dishes! Coming out at night climbing on our toiletries, tooth brushes etc. running across someone foot while they are using the bathroom. It was absolutely disgusting! It’s one thing to see one or two bc of the area but this hike had an infestation. We called and were told they would come spray but I don’t know how spraying was going to change anything while we were there, we asked to be moved bc the roaches were literally everywhere and coming out at night and we were also concerned about our belongings. There is NO washer and dryer we were concerned we’d take them back especially since they were crawling all over at night time. So they told us to take our clothes to the laundry mat and they would refund us the money we paid to get our clothes cleaned. Absolutely ridiculous! We have stayed in different homes in Garden city many times ocean front and all over but this was by far our worst experience we never seen roaches at any other home. The kids were scared to get up at night and use the bathroom. And we all had to worry about taking these pests home. It was a low week in the season so they could have moved our location instead we spent our vacation time stressed and overwhelmed at the lack of care of this home and the company not helping to make the situation right. I would not recommend this home it is

Had a few issues with rental first thing was there was was 2 bed frames broken out of the 8 beds could not sleep in either bed the beds in the boat house all need to be replaced they all make a loud noise every time you move the kitchen stove needs to be replaced hard to cook on the burners only had one you could really cook on . The house needs a good cleaning the living room furniture needs to be replaced. The house was in a great location we have been coming to Mrytle Beach for a long time now and my family loves it we made this house work at a few bed issues since 2 were broke we would not rent this house again unless the beds were all replaced and the furniture. The pier at garden city is great my family enjoyed there stay did a lot of shopping golf cart riding and a lot of beach time when not raining had a lot of family time spending time with the family is what made this vacation so special

The house itself was a roach infested party house. If your looking for cleanliness and comfort this does not come close. We wiped and washed everything down before using and used air mattresses. They should really gut this place and provide better mattresses.

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was clean. I was very happy with the location. I was very dissatisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: This is the worst place I have ever stayed at through garden City realty. The beds were so hard that we had to go out and buy a mattress cushion so we could sleep. There was no dishwasher, washing machine or dryer. We had to go out and find a laundromat to wash clothes. The toilet on the south side of the house was about to fall through the floor and was leaking. When it rained water came through the ceiling into the bathroom. I would not stay here ever again. Needs to be updated.

Great location but house needs updating!

Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Great location house located on the marsh and only two blocks from beach. Kids loved fishing and crabbing on the dock . Plenty of parking space.. The house unfortunately needs some updates! Beds are all double beds and all needs new mattresses. One side of the house was very cool the other side was hot.we had to call the Realtor to come and fix bedroom windows.Two windows would not shut. They came out fixed one but told us they could not fix the other one would have to contact home owners.

A Long awaited family vacation spoiled.

Rating Details: The property manager was more than helpful. The vacation rental was clean. I was more than happy with the location. I was very dissatisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The pictures of the property misleading. It was like stepping back into the 70's. It has not had an upgradesince it was built. The beds are old and need replaced. The carpet needs replaced just to name a few. It is evident from all the patched repairsthat there has not been much spent on repairs overthe years. We were making the best we could to havea great family vacation until thursday when the airconditioner went out. We reported it and got a quickresponse from Garden City Realty and a ac Tech cameright away. He found the problem but did not fix itbecause they had to wait on the owner for approval which would be the next morning. My wife has COPD and you can see we had a very hot (88 degree) Nite.The next morning we were told the owner wanted HISguy to fix it and he was looking for a used part.We went back and forth all day waiting for the guythat was on his way. While we were out for dinnerthe realtor called and told us the tech was in Myrtle Beach and on his was to fix the unit, he never showed up. We spent another hot,very hot, nitewith my wife suffering all the time. When we left saturday morning the AC was still not fixed. The owner kept lying the realtor and the realtor kept lying us. When we returned the keys I suggested Garden City not deal with this owner as it reflects very bad on them. A long awaited family vacation spoiled.
