The Chelsea Hotel was in the right location and it was clean and neat but the experience was ruined by the loud gangster rap that was being played in the hotels bar/lobby/patio area at all hours of the day and night. We heard this loud music several times and were stunned that the hotel staff would allow this vulgar music to be played thru the hotels entertainment center. We had to call down to the front desk at approx. 1:30am one night to request that they turn down the volume. I was shocked to hear the "N' word and the "F" bomb being blared across the speakers. I will not be going back and will not recommend this hotel.

We were moved to another hotel...

The hotel website stated they have free airport shuttle service. Actually they have a shuttle that drops you off at another hotel and you have to walk to Hotel Chelsea. That's false advertising. They should say free airport shuttle service to a nearby hotel. When we arrived to the hotel around 10:30 pm, we were told we were upgraded to one of their sister hotels a block away. The one upgrade was 2 queen size beds instead of 2 double beds at Hotel Chelsea. At that time of night we had to walk to the Whitelaw Hotel with our luggage. But our experience at the Whitelaw Hotel was no better. We had to repeatedly ask for towels and it would take them hours to deliver them to our room. They never cleaned our room for the 2 days we were there. I would give Whitelaw Hotel a 1 star and that's because of the 2 queen bed. But Hotel Chelsea would get a zero because they shipped us off to another hotel.

Terrible Room, Terrible Service, Terrible Staffs

Cons: Staff attitude, room service, room condition, don't cheat customers on extra charge, noise control
This hotel is totally terrible, and the pictures are deceivable! The hotel doesn't look as nice as in the pics at all, the actual hotel is much worse. it's very old, very dirty, one of the worst things is that this hotel is very noisy--it allows customers to play very loud party music in the room, and the noise insulation of the rooms are terrible. the most terrible thing is you cannot report this kind customers who make this loud noise which cannot allow you to sleep, to the hotel. The hotel won't help you away from this loud noise, they won't tell the customers not to play music because this hotel cheats by writing very small letters on its page which can barely be noticed by customers that "Quiet/Non-noisy room is not guaranteed". If I had seen this sentence before, I would never book this hotel. But they write this sentence to very small which cannot be noticed at all. Bad hotel. Another thing angers me is that they charge me extra resort fee without letting me know. I prepaid everything before I went to the hotel but they charged me extra resort fee including taxes which I had paid before online again without telling me. They never gave me any receipt and i won't find it out until they didn't return my deposit fee $100 and call them. But the staffs' attitude is terrible. He sent me to another department but the other department let me call a number which never answer my phone. When I call back again, the hotel never answer my phone no matter how many calls I make.

Cute boutique hotel

Pros: Location and small size.
Cons: The bar didn't open until 4pm and a shuttle from the airport was only available once every two hours. We ended up having to take a taxi.
Location: Centrally located with lots to do
Cute, smaller hotel. They got us checked into our room early which was great. Front desk staff was very friendly. There is also free drinks and the hotel bar everyday from 7-8pm which is a bonus!(make sure to tip your bartender). Rooms are small, but modern. Comfortable beds. Hotel has a great location only two blocks from the beach/ocean!

Stylish rooms Great Location!

Pros: Location Location Location. Nice rooms. Clean. Friendly Staff. Free happy hour every night.
Cons: Check-In Process
Location: Beach is two blocks away. There's shopping, Food places, and bars near bar.
This is my second time staying at the Chelsea and while I love the hotel and its location, they could definitely work on some process improvements. For one, the check in process was terrible this time around. We waited almost two hours past check in time before actually getting the keys to our room because we kept being told the room wasn't ready. It really cut into our day so that was disappointing. The next morning breakfast was delayed because we were told the chef was running behind. Just seemed like they were late with everything this time around. The room was nice and clean but the shower sprayed everywhere and I felt assaulted by the end of my shower, lol. Besides that my parents and I enjoyed our stay. We like that they are only two blocks away from the beach, right across from food places and shopping, and the free happy hour definitely is a plus. I would stay again but they need to get it together with check-in.
