A wonderful retreat from the hustle and bustle of city life
We spent a week at Finca Santa Matilde in September with our young children and their grandparents. The reception from Juan Carlos was fantastic, he met us at the local supermarket to make sure we would find the house and access it properly. Around a 20 minute drive from Malaga city, you will need a car to get about (I wouldn’t fancy walking the hill to the local Aldi!!) but the distance means you get a location that is an absolute antidote to the stress and bustle of city living.
The space is fantastic, with large terraces, a swimming pool and a tennis court. The houses are well equipped- we rented both together and moved between the two via a joined terrace. It was beautiful watching the sun go down over the hills with a glass of wine.
Our 3 year old loved the pool, the swing, seeing the ducks (and the neighbours escaped pig!). The grandparents spotted wild pigs and we saw lots of bats in the evening.
As a location for a holiday where you want to relax, not worry about ‘doing things’ or use as a base for walks around the Malaga mountain range Finca Santa Matilde would be perfect. The hosts are brilliant and as an example, we left an item at the house which Matilde has now posted to our current location (we stayed as part of a longer Spanish road trip). We all thoroughly recommend the property and the hosts.
