I love the Dunes because it’s usually quiet and safe. The location is excellent from any point I need to go. One thing that bothers me is that there are NO side lamps next to the beds. Only glaring lights from the ceilings. You used to have side lamps which gave the rooms a nice ambiance. Makes the rooms look like a YMCA without them. Also, need to upgrade your towels. The quality is pretty awful and cheapens the room. Other than that, it’s amazing. I’ve been staying there for almost 30 years off and on.

Front desk was friendly. The room was very clean. The maid added little touches when she cleans. Left her a tip. Two downsides: the beds are very very firm with flat pillows, and parking was very tight. If you have anything larger than a minivan, it probably won't fit. Still I give it a five because I was very impressed how nice it was for the price. And they don't charge for parking. Definitely stay there again when in the area. Will bring my own pillow

My daughter and I stayed here because it was close to the Spanish Consulate where she needed to get her student visa to study abroad. We didn’t want to rent a car so we stayed at the Dunes so we could walk. It was updated and very clean. The room was comfortable and spacious.

Overall, enjoyed my stay here. It has a vintage vibe that I appreciated. I know this is considered a budget option for LA, but I still think for this price they could have nicer pillows, towels, etc. It was a good location near Hollywood and had free parking included. One of the better deals in the area and I would probably stay here again.

Wonderful staff. Basic but solid hotel, good for a night or two. Very quiet area. Hotel has a laundry room, a small pool, a vending machine, and a covered parking lot. Decent if you’re planning to stay close to Griffith Observatory or Universal Studios.
