Amazing location and love the papakea resort. Great view of the ocean from the patio. However, when we arrived, the patio had not been cleaned and was covered in bird poop. Once we discussed this with the onsite management, they got someone over and got it cleaned. Had some trouble with the washer and dryer as well. We had to rent a pack n play from a different company and there was not much in terms of beach supplies ie snorkeling gear, one of the two beach chairs was broke. This condo did have plenty of room for our family of 6.

Maui family vacation

It was a perfect property. Everything you need available from a full kitchen to beach chairs and towels. We left beach umbrellas and snorkel gear so now the property has that as well. Only minor issue was loose plug by master bed making the bedside lamp an "on and off" situation. All TVs worked, no pests...just perfect! Thank you for a wonderful trip!!!

Ants everywhere and A/C not efficient.

I inquired Prior to booking re efficiency of AC unit. This is our third visit to Papakea This visit was a work trip for my hubby that we tagged along w. We also met other family renting 2 additional units (diff prop mgmt co). We arrived and the unit was 87’ and ants all over the kitchen walls. I messaged The night of arrival and told unit “should” cool down. It did not. We barely slept. The bedroom and loft remained 10-15’ warmer than LR. I had To call, text, and email SIX times before head drop off 2 additional fans. They refused upon first several contacts. Meanwhile, our family members prop mgrs brought fans immediately upon request. Ants got worse, even after they supposedly came into unto and sprayed. We had to store all of our non perishable food the the fridge. This unit is NOT worth the cost and the owners def need to investigate a new prop mgmt company AFTER taking care of the ant problem. Think towice before booking!!

Perfect for a family vacation!

All the convenience of having your “own place” with a kitchen and two full bathrooms and washer and dryer…..all with the added “resort style” amenities! Pool and beach access was the perfect added bonus! BBQs were great to have as well! Very family oriented and we loved how less chaotic the resort was compared to others just down the way. The staff was very friendly and it was obvious they all worked hard to keep the grounds clean and beautiful! The side access gate to the ABC store come in handy daily! Thank you for a great stay! We will definitely book here again!

First Maui Experience

The location of this property is second to none. 4th floor facing the pool area and the ocean. All the facilities that are needed. Close to the BBQs which we used most ever day. Pool, hot tub and putting green are great but the shuffle board is of no use given the surface material. We found the space in the condo very comfortable for 4 adults. The condo has been well used and is due for a very good cleaning. Carpets need cleaning or replacement. Response to our request for some replacement items was good. Would definitely return to this property if there was some assurance that more attention was being given to the cleaning.

Resort is right on the Beach

Papakea Resort is above Kaanapali near resort row. DT Fleming Beach is to the North and Kaanapali Beach is to the South. Resort / Hotel is very easy to find off the main Highway 30. When checking into the resort, park in front and go to the main lobby hostess area and check in to your room first. Leave your luggage in the car. After getting your room keys then park in front of your building so you don’t have to lug your luggage around finding your room. The resort has 7 buildings and each one is number after a letter A-G. The good: There are 2 pools with BBQ propane grills set around pool area with tables. The room we booked had an upstairs bedroom /bathroom and a downstairs bedroom /bathroom. The room was awesome and spacious for a family of 2 adults and 2 children. Recommed using the upstairs bedroom area, it’s a lot cooler on top, than the downstairs bedroom. There is a small window ac unit and fan in the living area that circulates air well into upstairs area. Downstairs was really stuffy and I had a hard time sleeping. Next time if we stay there, definitely going to have the kids stay downstairs and me and wifey will be upstairs :)The room itself had everything you need for hanging out. It felt more like a condo/ home instead of a hotel room. Bedrooms and bathrooms were very clean and had a Spartan/ spacious feel. There is even a laundry unit with washer and dryer inside closet area, detergent was also included. The room had all the essentials for a day out, beach towels were included with bogey board. And bathrooms were all appointed with soap, body wash, hand soap, shampoo, hairdryer and extra towels. Pro-Tip, this room B407 has all the essentials for home cooked meals, such as plates, bowls, silverware, utensils, fridge and paper towels. The kitchen is well stocked with everything you need, even down to dishwasher, Ajax Soap and scrubber. If staying longer than 4 days, go get groceries first before checking into hotel. Right next to the Airport is Costco or Target. Go there first before driving 30 miles to resort. Costco or Target will be the cheapest, or go to Safeway in Lahaina and get a membership card. Food is very expensive in Hawaii in general about 50% more than the mainland, so even if you just cook one meal in instead of eating out you’ll save money. A very nice touch when checking into the room was a box of chocolate and bag of coffee on the counter. That was a nice surprise. The Bad: Lots of tiny bugs in kitchen area.

Right on the ocean

Very nice property, office staff was friendly and professional our condo was on the parking lot side so it was a bit noisy. The only real criticism is that if you're expecting actual a/c this unit did not have it there is a window unit in the living area but the bedrooms were like ovens,however we didn't come to Maui to sit inside, so it was fine.

This was a perfect place to stay. Very family friendly. Great location right on the water and easy walk to the beach and two good grocery stores. The condo facility is very well maintained. The condo was clean and well stocked and quickly felt like home. I’d definitely go back!

Wonderful family vacation!

We had a wonderful family vacation at Papakea B407. Plenty of space for our family of 4, this well appointed condo was a lovely place to enjoy our time in Maui. The kitchen was well stocked with utensils and small appliances, making it easy to have family meals on the lanai. The sunset from the lanai was stunning. The unit is close to the elevator for carting luggage and such, but even in the back bedroom we never had any issues with noise. We have stayed many times at Papakea and love it’s location close to the grocery store, ABC, Farmer’s Market, Bad Ass coffee, fish market and several restaurants (all walkable). There is also now a food truck court just down the road from the Papakea entrance. Two pools and right on the ocean, it’s perfect for families. We would happily stay in B407 again!

Great unit for families!

This is our third time staying at Papakea and my in-laws 13th time staying at Papakea so we've seen a number of units. There were 6 of us total (four adults, a baby, and a toddler). We had the grandparents on the ground level and my husband and I in the loft with the baby and my 2.5 year old son was able to sleep in the upstairs bathroom in his travel crib. Overall this was a great unit. PROS: -The upstairs bathroom was big enough for a travel crib which is a huge pro when travelling with toddlers. I find when he is in the same room as us he wakes up earlier so having the separation was key. -The upstairs loft would be big enough to have another travel crib at the end of our bed. -The unit supplies beach towels, two beach chairs, one beach umbrella, golf clubs, and sand toys. Thank you! -The downstairs bathroom has a mini tub which was great for the kids (it didn't supply a plug but we made due) -Kitchen is well supplied. -There is an emergency kit in the downstairs bathroom which is a great plus when travelling with kids. -Patio overlooked the water and had great views of whales in January (bring your binoculars). -Beds were comfortable and towels were fluffy. -The TV is a smart TV which is great for watching youtube, netflix etc in the evening. -Shower pressure is good. CONS: -The condo needs a good bug spray down. For those new to Maui it is very common to see very very small bugs in almost all units no matter where you stay. They are harmless but super annoying. We were very clean and kept food in cupboards and the fridge but for a third floor unit there were significantly more of these little critters than we saw in our first floor unit which makes me believe this condo needs a spray update. Again, these little bugs are normal to see but annoying and seeing less of them would make our trip more enjoyable. -The carpet going up the stairs and in the bedroom needs a good shampoo or replacement given the price per night. A quick note about the air conditioner... given our experience at Papakea we were worried about this but it isn't an issue at all. We hardly used the air conditioner... turned it on a few times but if you leave the front door slightly open and the patio doors open you get a lot of breeze thru the unit. We used our ceiling fans and the additional fan they had upstairs when needed but it wasn't as big of an issue as we expected. This is surprising given that the sun sets toward this unit. We would stay here again!

Had a great stay in West Maui/Papakea. Our condo was a bit snug for family of 6 but loved the location and amenities of the complex. We enjoyed the first morning orientation and went on two excursions as a result. Wished we had swimming beach at condo but discovered it was super easy/convenient to simply drive if we had gear or walk if empty handed to swim and snorkeling beaches in front of hotels (board walk starts at Duke's restaurant. Heading south turn immediately after food trucks/follow sign to beach access/free parking). Unit was a bit warm and AC loud but if you are patient and let AC run for awhile it gets quieter and does the job.

Very clean and fully stocked. Amazing views from the 4th floor and stunning sunsets.

We LOVED our Spring Break at Papaya! We got lucky with the weather too. The resort was very clean and well maintained. Our unit (#407) was on the 4th floor and the cathedral ceilings with the bedroom loft/full bath area felt really spacious. The ocean view and sounds of surf were amazing. We saw whales from our lanai. My husband with 2 teens had plenty of room and the teens had their own area (loft) and bathroom. Pools were easy to access and clean. Never crowded, plenty of beach chairs. I really thought I would miss having beach/sand but the soft grass in front of the sea wall for chairs was really nice-no sand in your toes or on you after sunscreen. Palm tree shaded areas, turtles just over the sea wall with amazing sunsets on the “grassy” beach was surprisingly delightful. There was beach access for snorkeling. We could not find a shower by the pool to shower off ??? nor could we find our iron-board found but no iron but it’s not like we were planning to iron anyway :) Kudos for: 1) a well stocked kitchen and pantry-having oil, salt/pepper, spices, plastic products, garbage bags, TP, DW and dishwashing liquid, laundry detergent, broom and cleaning supplies really nice. 2) Coffee, filters and a box of chocolates on arrival very thoughtful and appreciated. 3) The resort's concierge was EXCEPTIONAL-Don’t miss the orientation, it’s worth it and not a timeshare spiel-good info and recommendations. Can rent beach chairs, boogie boards etc right from concierge desk-very convenient and reasonable. 4) Having beach toys in master closet, (for younger kids) nice, beach towels (although only 3) great. Putters for greens with balls unexpected and appreciated. We left our two boogie boards in the closet for the next group. A few beach chairs would have been super-suggest that you add two as folks don’t want to buy-too much to take home. 5) A washer and dryer in the unit was a godsend and worked well. 6) kitchen well stocked with dishes, utensils and SHARP knives YEAH 7) Thank you for ice bins, 2 ice trays and plastic cups for pool. A few suggestions to really make the place awesome: 1) The AC is going to be a problem in the summer months-it’s not only really inefficient, it is noisy. It definitely needs to be examined and/or replaced. We used sparingly as it wasn’t too hot outside in spring. 2) the sofa is not the most comfortable but as sleeper sofa I’m sure it’s appreciated for a larger party. 3) a few more beach towels and at least 2 beach chairs

Property was great and the kitchen was so well stocked. Really appreciated all they provided.

Everything was wonderful. Absolutely loved the location - so easy to explore so many parts of the island. Only down side is that it is hard to access the beach and swim out. You are able to walk to a great snorkel beach really close though.

Beautiful sunsets, great location

Papakea is a wonderful little gem of a place that sits apart from some of the massive resort complexes. It's private, beautifully kept grounds fall into that low-key, old Hawaii vibe that is my favorite. Our unit was nicely updated with the best stocked kitchen (appliances) of almost any place we've ever stayed! It worked perfectly for us for the week we were there. The resort itself does not have beach front, but it is an easy walk or short drive to get to. The complex is right across from a grocery store and other shops, which was fantastic. Definitely recommend Papakea!

Beautiful location, beautiful condo

This fourth floor condo has a spectacular view of the ocean, even when it's raining! Accommodations were as advertised. Very comfortable.
