We were immediately wowed by the view as we opened the front door. The decor and furniture were lovely and the finishes upgraded. We would have given the property 5 stars, but upon arrival we were informed by maintenance that A/C was out and would set up a portable cooler in bedroom and would have a technician in the next day to repair. The next day after being out for the day, we arrived to the technician leaving and maintenance informing us that the AC unit had seized and could not be repaired during our stay. We were told to contact property mgmt about possibly moving to another villa. I immediately reached out to them and was told they could offer a “like” villa but had to make a quick decision as they were leaving soon and had to make sure housekeeping was aware before they left. She sent us the link to look at the option. Our villa was an Ocean View Gold and the option was just Ocean View. The property did not compare. Lower quality finishes, less attractive furnishings and decor and what we considered a less desirable location. We chose not to accept because we felt that it did not match the value of what we paid for and expected. We then were given the option to upgrade to an Ocean Front villa for over $800 more, (we had already stayed one night at our current villa). We were not prepared to pay that much more for our vacation and couldn’t consider that option. We were told that’s all they had to offer, so were told they could set up one more portable in living room the next day. We did agree to do that, however the villa is quite large and 2 coolers that size can only cool off approx. 250-300 sq ft each, leaving parts of the villa very warm. (Taking a shower and trying to get ready in the bathroom was quite uncomfortable). The coolers had to run day and night because of the temperature, near 90 and high humidity, unfortunately the ambiance of the beautiful location and view, as well as the sound of the waves was ruined by the constant loud blowing of the cooler. Upon returning home, I contacted VRBO asking if they could request some credit from the owner for the unfortunate inconvenience. We are vacation rental owners ourselves and know it is sometimes necessary to make things right with guests when they are inconvenienced for some reason. We were informed by property mgr that the owner was not willing to accommodate us because they provided us with alternate cooling. If owner had a change of heart, we would gladly upgrade our review.
