I checked in and was told that I had to leave my truck keys with the valet while I checked in. I came back to find that they had my truck running, UNATENDED, and the window was down IN THE RAIN! My papers inside were soaked! Went to the restaurant for lunch.. TERRIBLE service. Couldn't even get refill on coffee or get ketchup because our waitress disappeared. No apology for the lousy service at any time. They added Valet Parking, a Resort Fee, etc. NOT WORTH THE HASSLE!

We come at least once a year to this place and havnt been disappointed yet. We traveled with 2 kids and found it very accommodating. They do have pack n plays for the room so you don’t have to bring a bassinet. Good, Wine and service was great. To be fair, there was a slight mix up with the valet on misplacing my keys but was resolved within a few minutes. I even got a text back from the manager shortly after. Keep up the great work!

The pool bar did not open until 2:30 in the afternoon, the restaurant did not have tables available for early dinner although they were all empty, I had to order my food to go.

Restaurant food for dinner was very good but it took over 45min for our food to arrive. Only 1 bartender and 1 server at pool. Need at least 2 of each. Lobby bar was wonderful! Elevators need painting. Need a gift shop with t shirts. Great historical photos and cars all around the property.

Exquisite Hotel

The Grand Galvez has been our go-to hotel in Galveston since the total redo a few years back. There is nothing like it on the island when it comes to old school beauty. The decor is exquisite in every way. The rooms, although not large, are updated and decorated beautifully. The downstairs bar is like going back in time to the 40’s/50’s. The crowd is obviously “older” than that at the other upscale hotel on the west end of the Seawall. Thats ok since we’re older ! The location is also great since it’s walking distance to Murdoch’s, Miller’s, and the Pleasure Pier and a 5 minute drive to the Strand.

I cannot give enough positive vibes on this place. Everybody is so friendly and kind. Food at The Monarch was fantastic. Every detail was well managed. Incredibly clean. The showers are amazing, the bed is so comfortable. Front desk was so nice. Our wait staff was great, the girls in the spa were great. I cant wait to go back. We were actually sad to leave. I will never choose any other hotel in Galveston ever. This is gonna be my go-to forever!
