Nice place for the value!

Otherwise, place was clean and neat, and the property managers were very easy to work with.

Lots of things to do- ride bikes, play cornhole,walks to the beach,day trips to Charleston and shopping at Freshfield Village. We would like to make this our annual tradition. Beautiful, serene, immaculate!

The home is in one of the best locations on the island, close to the beach and in a beautiful, treed neighborhood on a cul-de-sac. The home itself is bright, beautifully decorated, immaculately clean (and we are very picky!) and a true home away from home. We especially loved the screened in porch and all of the kitchen amenities. Highly, highly recommend! We will be back

We very much enjoyed our 4 night stay and dream of coming back one day! While the weather was not very cooperative, we were able to spend an afternoon on the enclosed porch having wine and cheese!

Reviewer Comments: We have been visiting Kiawah Island for 20 years and have stayed in many houses on the island so you could say our standards are high! 144 Hooded Merganser met every one of our needs (and our standards), from how clean the house was, to the luxurious furniture and even the brand-new looking appliances. This house exceeded our expectations and made our stay a great one! We will most likely book this house again in the future! Thanks for an awesome trip!

Pretty Bad

Rating Details: The property manager was very unhelpful. The vacation rental was somewhat dirty. I was more than happy with the location. I was very dissatisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Pretty Bad. A/C Broke on a Sunday. Apparently ESPM does not have 24/7 contract. Didn't get fixed until Monday, while we sweated on a hot Sunday night in Kiawah. Liner to one of the showers disgusting. Called for a replacement on Monday, but didn't get it util Thursday. Each bathroom with too sinks only got 1 bar of soap. Too cheap to give a bar of soap for every sink? Requested Late check-out twice online and received no response, although answer was supposed to come within 72 hours of check-out. But charged my credit card no problem without responding. When asked for it in writing all I got was, "you were approved". No sorry, nothing. House itself was ok, except for what I mentioned above. Best part is close to beach. Other than that, I would NOT recommend it.

A Wonderful Week at the Beach

Reviewer Comments: Our family had a very nice stay at 144 Hooded Merganser over the 4th of July week- the home is so well cared for, and wonderfully appointed in every way; we have stayed at many homes all throughout the island, and this is one of the best ever!! The screened in porch is idyllic with its lagoon view, and the house is in perfect condition- the layout of the bedrooms gives everyone space to unwind, and the kitchen was beautiful. It is a real gem behind Kiawah's second gate- easy walk to the beach several times a day.

Reviewer Comments: We typically vacation at Hilton Head or Bald Head Island, but have always heard good thing about Kiawah Island, so decided to give it a try. The island did not disappoint and neither did 144 Hooded Merganser. The house was gorgeous and very well appointed and maintained. The communication with ESPM was also excellent.

Wonderful family house with all the details!

Love the living room with all the special touches - games, record player with cool records, etc. The kitchen has everything you need. Walk to the beach, bike to everything else.

Lovely, lovely home!

Our family has stayed at quite a few houses on Kiawah over the years and this one is one of the very best! The furnishings, sheets, towels, rugs, etc are so comfortable and soft, the screened porch is the perfect spot to relax with cross breezes and 2 wonderful fans, the location is quiet and only a 4-5 min easy bike ride to the beach, the kitchen is extremely well equipped, TVs are amazing, Wifi worked perfectly, and its so clean and well set up for vacation! The management company was great with communication and responsiveness to questions and bike delivery, and the owners have left wonderful touches that add to the incredible welcoming feel of this house! We enjoyed this spot so very much and appreciate how much the owners have done to make it a home away from home!
