My husband and I have traveled around the world and have stayed at many 5-star hotels. We like Chateau de Chine and this is our second visit since 2019. We have good comments on the performances of the staff. However, we feel that front desk and lounge staff could have shown more friendliness with smiles. Breakfast buffet is wonderful, but cafe latte is lukewarm. Toilet is clean. However, toilet seat bolts needs to be tightened. Bathroom is clean and good, to be more user-friendly, we recommend adding a bottle of bath gel at the side of tub, and a box of tissue beside the sink.

This hotel is quite old and run down. There is a lot of humidity throughout the hotel, especially in the elevators. The layout of the rooms, elevators and staircases are reminiscent of a cruise ship from the 1990’s. They do have free laundry machines, which is a fantastic perk. However, the stacked dryer takes hours to dry. Try to get the front loading dryer on the 10th floor that dries in about an hour. They ask you to pay for your room when you check out. Which is strange. I chose this hotel based on its high ratings and was somewhat disappointed. What partially makes up for it is their “happy hour” from 6-10 pm where they offer free snacks, pop and unlimited taiwan beer!

The pros: - Excellent staff: friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. - The rooms are big and well designed with comfortable bedding and relatively good soundproofing. - The breakfast is delicious with lots of choice. - The hotel is located close to a subway station and is easily accessible. The cons: - Our room was in the back and the kitchen(?) ventilation starting at 5:45 AM kept me awake, in spite of the insulation (do not open the window, this sounded like a rocket starting!). - the neighborhood is not great, and youll have to walk or take the subway to go in the most interesting part of the city.

The location is very convenient to a lot of restaurants and an easy walk over to the harbor as well as an easy walk to the Metro. The rooms were nice and we all really enjoyed the included breakfast. It was surprisingly good food with a really good selection of local Fair

The staff was great. They were able to accommodate our request for adjoining rooms at check-in, and having free laundry was a huge bonus. The rooms were clean and relatively modern. The water pressure for the shower was terrific.

Great value for money.

Super good value for money. For the cost of a budget hotel, you get a decent 4 star full service hotel. You even get VIP lounge access for free snacks and drinks. How good is that? Thats usually reserved for elite members in a proper hotel chain. Its also very close to MRT station very easy to get around. The downside is that its in the old area called Yancheng district so not a lot of modern shops around. But it has its charm. Many nostalgic markets and hidden street food thats only known by locals. Its also very close to the cultural precinct Hamasen, so for someone who likes a bit history and nostalgia, it was the perfect place.
