Northwoods Retreat @ Copper Lake - Minutes from Tomahawk & Merrill

Remember a time when life was simple? A time when children were never bored? A time when they made their own fun catching fish and frogs, splashing in the lake, and catching fireflies? A time when adults could read a book or enjoy a cup of coffee in peace and quiet and not worry what was going on in the world around them?
It exists today! Add in the modern day comfort, conveniences, and connectivity of the 21st century and that’s EXACTLY what you find when you visit Copper Lake Cabin.
Start your day on the back deck feeling the cool breeze as it rolls off the lake and listening to the birds singing their beautiful songs. Watch as the children or young at heart slowly rise and head to the main house from their own private bunk house complete with a private bathroom and know that you are about to have one of the best getaways of your life.
While life is slower up here and no one has any expectations of you, jump back into the 21st century with our reliable internet and solid cell phone reception. Our advice…tell your boss that you’re heading up North and your connection may be spotty all the while knowing you can jump back in at any moment should YOU so choose!
This cabin 3 bed, 2 bath (2nd bath only available late spring, summer, and early fall) lakeside cottage on picturesque Copper Lake is beautifully updated. The main floor offers an open concept dining room, kitchen, and living room perfect for entertaining, as well as main floor laundry and a cozy master bedroom suite.
Enjoy your evening cocktails or morning coffee on the newly constructed lakeside deck. The lower levels offer a TV room, bedroom, and incredible game room/kids play area that includes foosball, shuffleboard, darts, "old-school" Nintendo, and plenty of family games. If that wasn't enough space for your crew, there is a separate bunkhouse building that offers 5 additional beds, bathroom, outdoor shower, and a sitting area.
Near the lake you find a new dock, swimming raft, 2 tandem kayaks, row boat, and waterfront fire pit. The home is fully outfitted with life jackets, paddles, and fishing poles to keep everyone busy.
This location is remote and private, however it is conveniently located only a short drive to Tomahawk or Merrill where you will find various dining and shopping options. ATV, UTV, or snowmobile directly from the driveway. Trails can bring you all the way up past Rhinelander! The cabin is also less than 5 minutes from Underdown Recreation Area where you will find mountain biking, horseback riding, and cross country ski trails.

Very convenient to the IAT trailhead(s), super clean and functional. The owners put lots of effort into making the place a great place to relax after a long day!

Fall Getaway
The home was even better than it showed in the pictures. Worked perfectly for my group. Kids loved the bunkhouse and the game room downstairs. It was a cool fall weekend so we didn't get in the water but the property was very pretty and full of colorful leaves. We had everything we needed and would love to return.

Weekend wedding getaway
We rented the house to stay in for our daughter's wedding. It was a beautiful location and home away from home. Management was prompt in answering questions. We won't hesitate to rent from here again. Highly recommend this property.

Quiet. Modern Comfort. Fall Color.
One of our best vacations in quite some time. This lake house was set up perfectly for our family’s needs. We tend to be going in 2 or 3 different directions and meeting up for meals. Gaming downstairs, watercolor painting upstairs, kayaking on the lake, tv in 3 places so Brewers game and a movie can be going, a deck or fire pit for my brother’s cigar-means-vacation evening, Ice Age Trailhead close by, … And sleep spaces aplenty! When you have reached the ages when snorers have to be separated from the others sleep options are our first consideration. My husband and I kept saying, “my ears are in shock from all of this quiet!”. What a beautiful thing! I hope we can repeat next fall or try again in a different season.

Great Vacation!
If you are anything like me, you read a bunch of reviews before booking a property. The reviews are what easily convinced me to book this lake home! While our stay and the communication with the property manager gets a glowing five stars… I SOO wish it would be advertised more in summer months that this home doesn’t have any air conditioning. While you can’t predict weather in Wisconsin ever, nor predict that a Labor Day weekend would be a blazing 90+ degrees, we might have brought our own stand alone AC unit from home or thought about booking elsewhere honestly given it was a summer weekend. It got pretty hot and sticky to the point where we went a bought another stand alone AC unit ($519 later) so we could sleep comfortably in the home the next 2 nights. Unfortunately the bunk house didn’t have any AC either so we were pretty sticky waking up first thing in the morning. Second thing worth mentioning that raves how awesome the property management team is - when we arrived it was dirty, beds unmade etc and I was initially confused thinking we were too early to check in. Turns out, it was just a miscommunication with cleaning. Dave was extremely apologetic and waved our cleaning fee and gave us a $50 for fish fry that night in town. Great guy! You could tell he felt bad and wanted to right the wrong. Luckily we are very laid beck! Besides all that, it was an amazing home, well stocked, and we will be back again at some point!! Thank you for the stay!!

Joint Family Vacay Fun!
We stayed here with another family, so 8 total (4 adults & 4 kids under 15) for a joint family vacation and we had a wonderful time! Everyone enjoyed the paddle board, kayaks & swim raft. The kids spent most of their time jumping off the swim raft & liked sleeping in the bunk house. And the game room was perfect when the rain came! We're already talking about a return trip!

Family Fishing Trip
Our scheduled stay was from Saturday, July 22 to Saturday, July 29. We left on Friday to go home because the power went out Thursday evening and was predicted to be off until late Saturday. The property was great! The home was clean and stocked well! The dock was very nice. Use of the boat, kayaks and paddle board was so much fun! We had great fishing! Loved our stay here! Hope to return sometime! Thanks for sharing your beautiful home!

Relaxing and fun family getaway
Our two families had a great time. The bunkhouse and gameroom were a hit for the teens. Water was calm and actually warmer than expected. We loved the deck and the fire pit. Had a lot of fun swimming, kayaking, and fishing. Be careful of the old pier posts in the water in front of the dock. We think these should be marked or removed. They are right off the end of the dock where someone might be tempted to jump in. David made us aware, but they are just in a bad location. Overall, really enjoyed the feeling of the deep woods but also having nice towns near by. Would rent again!
