Home away from home!! They have everything all you need is your clothes and beach towels. This home is amazing. 10 out of 10 on everything!! Water views from the house are beautiful. Everyone mentions the kitchen so I will to, everything and more are supply literally home away from home. Highly recommend the ferry short drive at the end of the island. We visited Shackleford Island saw the horses and pick some great seashells. Had a very relaxing visited at Lookout Cottage. Would definitely stay again.

Peaceful Paradise for Families – A Gem on Harkers Island!

Our young family had an absolutely wonderful stay at Lookout Cottage. The home was spotless, beautifully maintained, and stocked with everything we could possibly need—and then some! From the well-appointed kitchen to the cozy bedrooms and thoughtful extras, every detail was clearly curated with care.The location was perfect for relaxing beach days and little adventures to nearby islands. Whether we were soaking in the peaceful surroundings, exploring the area, or simply enjoying quality time together, this cottage made it easy to unwind and reconnect.We left feeling refreshed, grateful, and already dreaming of our next trip back. Harkers home with all the finishings

We thoroughly enjoyed this home. We've used all the house stay apps and this one is right in our top three homes. Thank you to Melissa Mason!The home has spacious rooms, clean, included extra items; e.g. all spices, cleaning supplies, extra towels, and all outdoor fun items. There's a Dollar General two minute walk away, if anything else is needed. For those that like ferry rides and adventure at Cape Lookout and Shackleford Banks, that is only a quick drive to end of island.

Great location. Close to the cape lookout National Seashore, and many other beaches. We had a medical issue on our way and were delayed 3 days. The owner was very understanding and even offered to move the reservation over a couple days. We accepted 1 extra day, but had to get back home for work. We really enjoyed our stay even though we only got half the time we planned. Thanks so much.

Staying at the Lookout cottage/Hacker Island

Our stay at Lookout cottage located on Hacker Island was a beautiful place to stay. It felt like home had all the accommodations that we were looking for in a rental house ! Look out cottage is so beautifully decorated! The house alone has a great layout. We loved every bit of staying there. We would highly recommend anyone to go to Hackers Island and stay at the Lookout cottage. You won’t regret it. The island it itself is a beautiful place as well. All the people we met were so wonderful and nice. We even went to a Church service on Sunday at the Huggins memorial Baptist Church on Hacker Island And everyone was just so welcoming and friendly there . we enjoyed the service by the pastor Jason Salter it was very inspiring about mothers being Mother’s Day and all . so as I say again, my husband and I definitely are going back next year. This is the first time we’ve been there to Hackers Island and stayed at the Lookout cottage, but we are so looking forward to going back next year. We just loved it so much.

The house was PERFECT! The kitchen stocked with everything you would need except food- pots, pans… rolling pin(never seen in rentals), foil, plastic wrap… Bathrooms already had hamd soap- just clothes, and food- fishing stuff- and your ppl- is all you need for this house!

Wedding weekend accommodations

The Lookout Cottage is an absolute gem! Thank you for thinking of everything when stocking the home, it was perfect! Our family rented the cottage to spend the weekend on Harkers Island for our daughter’s wedding at a nearby church. The house was literally around the corner from our daughter’s home and around the corner from the church, and a 2 minute drive to the reception venue. It was the perfect location for us, and such a cozy retreat. Thank you!

One of our best vacations!

One of our best family vacations! House is beautiful and has everything you need for a family stay. Plenty of space, very clean, well decorated with a perfect central location to explore several other areas like Cape Lookout, Fort Macon, and Beaufort. Kitchen is well stocked to cook meals for the week and the house is large with good air conditioning and comfortable beds for everyone. Nice views from each floor too. House is located within a community so no “touristy” stuff and it’s quiet! The kayaks, ping pong table, beach gear, lawn games, and hammock are nice touches to feel at home. There is a nice little public beach down the street that little ones can find crabs and little fish at with beautiful sunsets. We kayaked one night at sunset and saw dolphins playing around us - it was amazing! At the end of the island is a ferry that you can take to Shackleford Banks or Cape Lookout. If you pick only one, we recommend SB. The wild horses are stunning and the shelling was outstanding. We snorkled and found so many awesome shells and explored the island for hours. Fort Macon is a short drive away and a hidden gem with a clean public beach & free parking, bathrooms, and great shelling and waves. The water is crystal clear and absolute paradise. Beaufort offers many little shops and restaurants that we enjoyed as well. If you want a more tourist feel, Atlantic beach is not far and has lifeguards. We enjoyed our entire stay and felt lucky to find such a gem. Thank you!

Amazing house in cool location!

Lovely spot for hanging out with friends- Well stocked kitchen (with an excellent blender and ice machine!!) Very kind and responsive host-- We will absolutely consider again for next year!

A Hidden Treasure!!

Harkers Island has been a hidden treasure for my entire life going back to visiting my grandparents on the island. The house was everything and more. It was very well furnished and stocked. Every time we thought we might to need X , we would find it in the house. The house was very comfortable from the beds to the couch. The kitchen was a pleasure to cook in. We are looking to come back in the future!!

Outer Banks adventure

We enjoyed the ferry trips to the lighthouse and to see the wild horses. Found two great restaurants, Fish Hook and Seaside! House was nice and well equipped to meet all our needs. Close proximity to Beaufort for more ferry trips and great food!

Amazing spring break with family

We frequent harkers island and this was by far the best property we have stayed in. Views are breathtaking, plenty of room for everyone, home is clean comfortable spacious and well decorated… if you like to cook the kitchen is a dream. Thank you!!! We will be back!

Comfortable and Relaxing

Lookout Cottage is an absolute gem. Beautiful water views from every room The home is tastefully decorated and immaculate. It is fully loaded with all you could possibly need for your stay, No exaggeration. They have beach chairs, umbrellas and boogie boards available for the beach. They had a fishing pole that we used. Games and puzzles, books to enjoy on the deck. This truly felt like a home away from home, we were all very comfortable. It's just a short drive to downtown Beaufort for shops or dinner very easy to get around. We enjoyed the adorable Fish Hook Grill just down the road. I would also like to note there is a Dollar General just feet from the house that is very well stocked with nearly all you need. I am so happy we found this place Melissa is very responsive and helpful with any questions

Harkers Family trip 2023

Very nice house, good location. We enjoyed the area below the house in the evenings. Everything and more was there to use. access to the sound was very welcome, had a few sunset swims. We will rent again. I am not sure about property restrictions but a sound side deck would be a nice addition, helps with options to stay in the breezes and avoid the bugs, but would also open up for better views.

Harker Island Home ☀️

We really enjoyed the home , lots of space for everyone.. we loved the beach right of the bridge , a nice small beach for little ones :) The ferry ride to Cape lookout was amazing too super close to the home. The home has a lot of steps , we enjoyed the exercise:)

Wonderful Stay

Beautiful home and location!! It was our first trip to North Carolina and wont’t be our last. The home was meticulously clean and everything you could need was there. The house was plenty big enough to accommodate my family of 5. The island itself was very peaceful and the ferry to cape lookout was only minutes away. The beach along the national seashore was absolutely beautiful with plenty of room. My kids found so many shells and loved it. The host Melissa was great and made sure to check in with us and to see if we needed anything. We had a very memorable vacation and would highly recommend this house if looking to stay on Harker’s Island!!

Great stay at Lookout Cottage

We loved our stay at Lookout Cottage. This was a beautiful place to stay and you couldn't beat the location. There were many nice amenities and we loved the overall layout/decor of the house. So many great views as well. We hope to visit again soon.
