Best choice we made on this vacation

Pros: At a par with the best hotels in Europe.
Cons: The card access system in the elevators needs maintenance; our room keys did not register correctly a few times.
Location: Centrally located in this city.
After having an uncomfortable experience in another city, we enjoyed our stay at the RIU Guadalajara. We give this hotel six stars. The view of the city from the 31st floor was spectacular; the included breakfast outstanding; room presentation and cleanliness very enjoyable and the personnel polite and helpful.

Nice hotel 20 min. from airport in light traffic

Pros: Very modern and clean with pleasant bar area and breakfast buffet is good.
Cons: Taxi service available with ability to use credit cards. Put clocks in the room.
Location: 20 minutes from airport in light traffic.
Hotel was very nice. Very modern and clean. Nice bar area to relax in. Did not have airport shuttle available. Had to taxi to hotel. Next morning taxi was available at hotel but had to pay cash, did not take credit cards and for business travel this is not convenient. Breakfast buffet was very nice with lots of choices. Only could use it one day as it starts at 6:30AM and there is a flight out at 6:30AM , so would be nice to have a little service of coffee or something small available for those early morning travelers. No clock in room, was strange. Staff was pleasant, but not too forthcoming of other places to dine in the area. Was looking for some local cuisine and establishments to enjoy. Overall nice place.

Nice but Could be Better

Pros: Close restaurants, Free Internet
When entering the Hotel you will be pleasently suprised. It has a very nice "Planta Baja" or first floor.. My only deal with this hotel is the beds. The beds are smaller than a regular full size bed and are not very comftorable. The bathroom was not as clean as it should be.. you could see hair and just accumulated dirt in the edges.. to be as new as it is they need to pay more attention to the cleaning service. It has one of the best views in the city, location is great, they have free wifi, there is an OXO (small convenience store) on the next block.. Overall a decent experience.. would have been upset if i would of paid full price for hotel room. If you are expecting the "free breakfast" not all rooms "qualify" for free breakfast.

really bad service

Pros: Free breakfast, Free Internet
Very nice hotel, but is overrated. The service is terrible, booked room online and when arrived they had changed the reservation price, had to speak to manager and they made me prove my online price by logging into my email via iphone. Asked for a wake up call, never got it. Asked for ironing service, took 30 min to arrive + 1 hour to iron. Tap water is undrinkable as noted by their sign, but they only sell you small water bottles at an expensive price. The bars close early if there is few people, even if they leave you hanging. Had too many issues with the hotel to return, made my stay stressful, and i'm an easy going kinda guy.

Beautiful new hotel very near heart of downtown

Pros: Free breakfast, Free Internet
Front desk staff exceptionally helpful. My only complaint is there are only 3 elevators and they are small by US standards (but the other hotels in Guadalajara appear to have the same issue) for half the floors (so 550 rooms divided by half...3 elevators for 225 rooms) These elevators SAY they are for 15 people, but we had up to 9 people in them and it was TIGHT. They were also unusually slow. Highly recommend Valet parking if you have your own car...much cheaper than self parking and Valets superb. Security right out front and seems to be a safe neighborhood. There is a currency exchange right arond the corner, but not in the hotel. Breakfast was Incredible! Anything and Everything you could imagine is available. By far the best we've ever seen. Only drawback, no cold milk (only very warm) but I'm sure if we'd have asked...they would have chilled some for us! Don't be shy, they'll accommodate!
