Great Staff - Disappointing Hotel

Pros: Staff
Cons: Heaters in rooms, Beds, Breakfast, Install a ramp in addition to the lobby stairs, More detail to room cleaning and maintenance
Location: Washington is close and many shopping areas
First off, the staff was great, courteous and helpful. But that is not enough to make a Motel good. The beds are very uncomfortable and there was a hallway air freshener that kept on beeping due to low battery, all day and night until I finally complained. You would think the cleaning staff would have said something. On the subject of cleaning staff, our room was not vacuumed very well, sequence from a previous occupant was on the floor for our entire stay, and we had to ask for clean towels. The heater in the room would not maintain the temperature. We set it at 66 degrees and it went up to around 78 degrees and then cycled down to around 64 degrees all night. The blankets on the bed are thin and we had to ask for another one so my wife could keep warm when the heater was on its down cycle. The breakfast was skimpy at best and the bread seemed to have been frozen and then thawed, which made it hard and taste stale. They also had a removable lid over the eggs and nowhere clean to place it so people were placing it on a wooden shelf nearby while they scooped their food, not the most sanitary situation in my opinion. Also, there are no elevators or carts for your luggage. You leave the lobby and must carry your luggage up six stairs for the first floor and a lot more for the second floor. Why not at least put in a ramp on the first floor?

Great stay

Nine miles from Washington DC, two miles from the Metro, this great hotel provides a great stay for a good price. This hotel is in need of a bit of renovation, but besides that, the room I stayed in was very clean and has everything someone would need for a long stay. A coffee machine, a fridge, and other commodities such as free WiFi and cable. I stayed for six pleasant days. I would like to add that the hotel provides free shuttle service to the Metro.. I would like to thank Roman , Linsey, and David. They made our stay as comfortable as possible by addressing our needs. Great breakfast variety. I would recommend this hotel to anyone who is visiting the area or Washington DC.

Not clean!

Room smelled like vomit and our carpet was filthy at this location! One representative tried to tell me the carpets were just replaced last year and another representative told me this wasn't true! There's only one high chair at breakfast so if you have a young child and another guest does too, you will have to get to breakfast super early to get the one high chair. And that is if they don't run out of plates first, like they did during our stay! Strange haurs found in the sink when we first checked in, which was pretty gross. Pool was closed at one point for a mouse in the filtration system. And, you better leave your room early in the morning else they won't refresh your towels or make your beds. We will never stay here again. Better to spend extra money and find a nicer hotel.

Hotel needs to be revamped.

Beds were one step above roll away beds. One of our beds had a broken frame and wasn't Very stable. Very uncomfortable. Staff were NOT friendly at all. Room diagonal from us was smoking MARIJUANA in their room the entire time we were there. The smell and smoke filled up the hallway and even came into our room. Reported it to the staff 3 separate times and NOTHING WAS EVER DONE. Staff was more worried about the HUGE tour groups that has booked with them. Room next to us had at least 6 to 8 people sleeping in it. Walls are VERY THIN and you can hear everything going on in the other rooms. Staff room up individual parking spaces closest to our rooms to accommodate the 2 HUGE tour buses that were booked.

Horrible Hotel

Pros: Nothing. Will not be staying here again!
Cons: Everything needed to be improved.
Location: White House, Capital, Memorials, museums etc
The room was dirty and when we turned the air on, we found a dead bug near the AC unit. Quickly packed the bags up and only left out the essentials items required and put all the luggage back in the car. The carpets weren't clean as when we moved the bed a little bit, we found wrappers from food. Towels were also dirty and had stains on them. Overall, not a pleasant hotel to stay at.

Overnight trip

While visiting the D.C. area/ Fairfax area I decided to stay here for its central location and was happy I did. The staff was excellent and I was able to get free hot breakfast in the morning to boot.

Caring front desk, custodial lapses

Pros: The fitness center and the very kind and thoughtful staff.
Cons: Higher level of cleanliness would be good; cosmetic work on room details would be welcome.
Location: It's a big shopping area. A nice Vietnamese soup restaurant is nearby. We didn't stay long enough to explore the area further.
The staff at this Best Western couldn't be nicer or more accommodating -- when we had a problem with the key-entry, they comped us dinner. We reported some issues with the room and were liberally thanked. So they're really trying hard. The flowers at the front desk are lovely, and well chosen. And hurray! Every single machine in the fitness center is working, and the Fitness Center itself is clean. On the other hand, the key-entry issue was never resolved. The room's front door looked as if it had been jimmied, with a rough edge and roughened surfaces. The bathroom door had peeling paint and puckering along the bottom, as if there had been a flood. The grout around the tub/shower was very clean, but also very roughly applied. The bathroom door (opening edge) was sticky to the touch. Bed was comfortable, but the sounds made by the heat and the refrigerator were loud enough to disturb sleep. At the same time, the curtains' magnetic closure effectively cut the exterior light, and outside noise was minimal. Tableware in the dining room was sticky to the touch, although the meal itself was tasty. The side exterior door B has a step down that was poorly marked, if marked at all. I nearly broke my neck. There should be a big STEP DOWN sign on the inside window surface.

Great place to stay while visiting DC

Pros: Location, shuttle service breakfast
Cons: The door to the stairs was across from our room. It slammed shut around the clock. They might consider adjusting it so it closes a little softer.
Location: We appreciated having a CVS right next door, very handy for drinks, snacks and things we didn't think to bring. The neighborhood was nice, felt safe.
We enjoyed 6 nights here and were pleased overall. The room was clean and spacious, the staff were nice enough to let us check in early when we switched hotels from another part of town. Breakfast was great and plentiful. Until Rolling Thunder came, it was peaceful. The shuttle driver was a delight, remembered us by name and always trying to please. We would stay here again.

For the casual traveler, not for business

Great local hotel for the casual traveler, but not fitting if you stay to do work. The price was great fire a place to stay. Chairs were too low and unfit for laptop work.
