Best Place to stay in Yosemite!

Pros: Close restaurants, Free Internet, beautiful view, best location, free shuttles to attractions, free parking
Cons: small beds, no coffeemaker
If you are looking to experience Yosemite, this is the best place to stay! At the Yosemite Lodge, you will enjoy the best views of Half Dome and Yosemite Falls. The rooms are clean, well appointed with patios and balconies. The Food Court has plenty of options for quick meals and the on premises Mountain Room Restaurant and Lounges are also wonderful. The gift shops have a great selection of items! Yes, the Ahwahnee is fancier, but if you want to truly get the Yosemite feel, the Lodge is the way to go. All in all, this is a WONDERFUL place to stay! We cannot wait to go back!

hotel staff was freindly

Pros: Close restaurants, Free Internet, Quiet
Cons: Poor breakfast, no breakfast provided
Although the rooms were comfortable, I think architecturally and aesthetically more natural materials could have been used such as timber and stone to make the place blend in but overall it was a great experience B and team

Excellent!

Pros: Close restaurants, Free Internet, Quiet
ALthough I made a reservation a few days before my actual trip, the price of the hotel room was very reasonable. I was actually a little bit concerned about the service, but they really nicely treated me. I appreciate it. In addition, the location is really really wonderful! Just a few minutes walk away from the Yosemite Fall! I will definitely go back to the hotel with my friends!!!!!!

I really enjoyed this hotel.

Pros: Close restaurants, Free Internet
I found the hotel staff to be very knowledgeable and friendly. Front desk staff was extremely friendly and nice. The hotel is not brand new, but central to all Yosemite activities. It was important for me to stay right in Yosemite. Yes, there are cheaper hotels outside of the park, but it's definately worth it to pay a little more and be right there. The room was large and had two queen size beds. This was perfect for me and my husband. The bathroom had been remodeled recently. The shower head was low if you are of average height. The room was clean and the maid service was efficient. Not much in the way of TV cable service. That is one area that could be upgraded. Small old fashioned TV and only 14 channels of cable. The free Yosemite shuttle is very convienent. Really nice restaurant right on the ground and the food was very good and reasonably priced. The food court was convienient for breakfast. Did not go to the on site bar.

No A.C. & Rooms Are Like a Run Down, Cheap Motel

Pros: Free Internet
Cons: Noisy
The outside is nicely painted and the front desk, where you check in, looks fine. But the rooms are in poor shape and in desperate need of of maintenance. None of the rooms have A.C. and it is HOT. All you have is a ceiling fan. You can open a window, but this location is a hub for shuttles and tour buses, so it is very noisy. I read on their website, that there were some re-modeled rooms and although I made my reservation 6 months in advance and requested one, I didn't get one. The food available at the Yosemite Lodge complex is expensive and not very good. You wait in long lines to pay for the food on your tray, so by the time you get to pay, get something to drink, and find a table, your food is cold. The one thing I found very strange is the 5:00 PM check in time. I arrived at 3:00 pm to check in and was told no rooms were available, but to check back in an hour. That didn't work. I got a room at 4:55PM. On the positive side, all staff I encountered at Yosemite Lodge were very friendly and knowledgeable about Yosemite. The best and most economical place to eat Breakfast and Dinner, is the Buffet at Curry Village. They don't serve Lunch at the Buffet, but there is a food court, separate of the Buffet, that serves Lunch. The Buffet is in a very large, high ceiling room and is very nice inside. Although I visited Yosemite at a busy time, I never waited very long at all to get seated, no matter what time I arrived. It's all you can eat, so you can go back as many times as you want. There are many different items and drinks to select from. The Curry Village Buffet is a must if you have kids.

Mid-week reward

I stayed off peak week, got a very large room- not refurbished jet-for low price with view into trees. Quality of rooms vary greatly. It is a modest rustic environment with heavenly outdoors. Friendly staff, esp. in food service. Used public transportation:Amtrak and Bus fom Bay Area+long trip, interesting views.

Would stay again

The hotel room was spacious and had a view of the field. The bathroom was old and needed some TLC but the water was hot and they had a heater in the ceiling. We stayed upstairs and there was no noise at all. The bed was very comfortable and there were plenty of pillows to choose from to get the 'right' one. Overall the experience was great. The only negative comment would be that it took a day or so to know that you can ask the desk for a flashight to light your way back to your room in the dark. We also had difficulty every time we went to the desk. The person behind the counter always seemed to be busy with something else and we waited for almost five minutes on three occasions for them to ask us if we wanted something. We were the only ones in the line so it was quite poor service really. Apart from that, everything was terrific.

Great Place to Stay

My husband and I stayed in Yosemite Lodge at the Falls in August 2010. We stayed in the Elderberry building and found it to be "nice"...not the Ritz but clean and very convenient to the Falls. We crossed the street and the Falls were at our "back door". There were NO BED BUGS or other insects in the room!! I did take my own tub cleaner, even though we took showers and didn't sit in the tub, I just didn't want to take any chances of the tub not being clean when we stood in it. (previous visits to other National Parks gave me this idea) It did help. The tub was not as clean as I would have liked. WE found the Food Court to have good food and the Mountain Room was GREAT! Wonderful desserts! There was a heat wave the first days we were there but the room had a ceiling fan and also a free standing fan. Screens were tight so no bugs or unwanted rodents could get in. WE did take a small coffee pot for our room..good idea! Also a small fan for the bath room...really helped in the heat wave. We loved the park and Lodge is a great location. Front desk people were very helpful and we even got to check in a couple of hours early ... very lucky because check in is not until 5pm! I had requested the Elderberry, top floor and I called the day before we checked in to see if we got our request and we did, so they do try to accommodate you if possible.

Great stay, but expensive

We stayed for 3 nights in April 2010 and loved it. The rooms are expensive for what you get, however you are staying in a national park! Walk across the street to Yosemite Falls and hike up to the upper falls. The shuttle was great and we had a great time hiking. Yes it is crowded, it was Easter Break, but the sights were beautiful. Bring food for breakfast and lunch. We brought an ice chest and had a small refrig. in our room. The cafeteria is so, so , but the restaurant was good.
