Great All-Inclusive Resort, exceptional staff, fun

Cons: Wish the beds were softer!
Location: 10 minutes from downtown, endless things to do nearby - parasailing, pirate ship cruise, fishing, scooter rental, dolphins, ruins tours and more!
Great resort! Major positives were the extremely wonderful staff, beautifully kept beach and pools, and the activities the resort offered. We spent about half our time at the resort and there was always something fun to do! Free snorkeling right on their beach. The food was great! Came to Mexico for plenty of Mexican food (the fajitas were fantastic!) and we got it, but they had many other food choices as well. And they kept the drinks flowing! Rooms were nice. Good AC. 10 minutes from airport or downtown. You can also book anything you want to do right from the resort - Parasailing, Pirate ship cruise, dolphins, ruins tours or anything your heart desires. We absolutely loved this place and if we come back to Cozumel - this is where we will stay! Thanks from Pam and Keith! 10/6 - 10/14 :)

On the beach. All inclusive.

Beautiful views. Beachfront access to warm ocean waters, snorkeling, parasailing. Two nice swimming pools (warm). Mosquitoes in the eve in the summer. Avg "all included" buffets. Minimal seating in testaurant with poor selection of entrees. Waitstaff friendly but hosts can be rude regarding reservations & dress code. Front staff very friendly & helpful. Lukewarm hot tub. Overall nice & family friendly. Could use a facelift.

Could be a great Hotel

But they skimped on everything. The food was horrible and borderline uneatable. They use paper McDonald's style napkins even in their supposed high end restaurant where they require you to dress in evening wear to eat. They have AC for the lobby but don't use it at all like most hotels in the area. Even in hottest parts of the year like July and it was unbearable. But the worst part was the bugs in our room. I'd swear they were bed bugs but other then finding evidence of blood trails on the mattress and pad I couldn't locate any to fully confirm it. But in my defense I didn't have a flashlight and don't see very well in low light situations. But my wife and I woke to little red bumps only on our feet and legs which coincidentally were under the covers most of the night. But in the Hotels defense they did move us after complaint to a much better room in tower two on the ninth floor. It's my opinion they have two classes. Tower one is run down and poorly maintained and Uses ancient regular keys for door locks and no hand towels but Tower Two is much better maintained and uses card keys for entering the room and has all the essential towels stocked. And both Towers have poor water pressure. Simple upgrades like linen napkins, using air-conditioning in the lobby and basic room upgrades and bug control and water pressure would make it a much better experience for all. Now for the positives they have a beautiful view from every room facing the ocean.

Potential there for being a top hotel

Unfortunately, the hotel is now quite dated and in need of a lift. There is a lovely beach with beautiful turquoise water - one has to navigate around some coral, however, which can be tricky. The staff is extraordinarily friendly- they work very hard to make your stay enjoyable. One of the biggest problems is the lack of adequate a/c. I usually am too cold with overly a/c'd rooms but this was close to uncomfortable for me and very uncomfortable for my partner. Not only was our deluxe ocean view room without adequate a/c, but there was no ceiling fan and the lighting was very dim, especially in the bathroom. BTW, inadequate a/c in the lobby and restaurant, too. We went to Cozumel for the diving, which was wonderful, but the onsite dive shop - Island Divers Cozumel- was far from full service- disappointing. I separately have given our dive master and captain outstanding reviews on IDC's own website, but we came to learn that hotel management was making it impossible for IDC to be the premier PADI shop it would like to be. One last thing- food abundant but just ok in the main dining. The dinner restaurant where, unfortunately, reservations have to be made daily and fill quickly, was much better and really made a difference for us.

Would NOT go back

Cons: Food, entertainment, add some umbrellas around the pool
This place is just ok. This is the 5th all inclusive we've been to, and is the only one that we would NOT go back to. It's small, and I believe that most of the places in Cozumel are small. There's very little beachfront. There are the typical huts you see at resorts, but if none are available, there's no shade (no umbrellas anywhere). The entertainment was weak. The lounge was tiny and had about 10 tables, so we ended up in our room in the evenings. Mattresses are hard, and there's no water pressure in the shower. I read that the food was bad. We are not picky eaters by any means, so I figured we wouldn't have any problems. I was wrong. The main restaurant is a buffet outside. They have netting up to keep the birds out, but the birds get in and eat off of the serving spoons. The waiters did not make any attempts to keep them out. The snack bar was even worse - watched a bird get trapped in the cover over the food, and it was flapping it's wings in all of the food. To get around this, we made reservations in the main restaurant. There were tons of empty tables every night, so not sure why they made such a big deal about having a reservation. The food in there was so so. One night, the food being served at the buffet looked awful and we didn't have reservations, so we left the resort and went to a restaurant in town.

Exquisite view from our balcony

Pros: The view and pool was excellent
Cons: more variety of food
The hotel was very nice, and I was especially pleased with the staff. They were pleasant and eager to help. My biggest concern was the restaurants. The food in the indoor restaurant was very good, but it was extremely hard to get a reservation without being a member of a "Premium Room". We stood in line from 7 AM to 8 AM ... was the fourth person there, and was told the only availability was either 5 PM or 8 PM!! The other restaurant was a buffet, which was okay, not a lot of variety. Ordering off the menu was good, but you could expect at least a 45-90 minute delay before getting your food. Also I've never been to a hotel that does not supply washcloths and only ONE hand towel. That seemed very strange to me. Bottom line -- If the price was right, I would probably stay there again.

El Cozumeleno Beach Resort

Pros: Beautiful and accommodating
Cons: Variety of food and internet service
Location: towards the end of the island. 10 minute (4 mile) ride to town, ATV rides were available, jeep rentals, scuba diving, a lot of snorkeling trips.
I enjoyed myself greatly. The staff was very accommodating and hard working. They helped us with care and humor. Formal dining was very good. Main outdoor restaurant served marvelous fajitas with a large buffet. By the end of the week we needed a little more variety, but the food was good.

Great beach, food just ok.

Great location and nice beach area. Good snorkeling. Dining restaurant has terribly slow service, waited 2 hours for breakfast and dining room was not close to full! Ate dinner once there and food was ok. Buffet food never as hot as should be. Grilled food was good and breakfasts were good. Fixed toaster on our last day there. Ordered food on beach every day for lu ch and it was great. Tried ordering lunch in buffet area on day of departure from menu but after an hour we had to leave without it! Hair dryer in room got hot and shut off after 30 seconds and it took 2 days to get a second one that was only slightly better. Only one night show for entertainment in 9 days that was if interest with live band but started at 8 and ended at 930. Friendly staff, especially waiters on beach. Bartenders could be more friendly. Order double alcohol in drinks and still not a normal drink.

The only thing good about this hotel is the beach.

Cons: The staffing of bars, the food quality and variety, the cleanliness of the rooms, have more variety of liquor and beer.
Location: great beach perfect for snorkeling, ten minutes from downtown.
My fiance´ and I travel quite a bit, staying usually in budget hotels. When we booked this hotel, our expectations were not high due to the reviews. The room was what we expected, not the cleanest, what you would expect from a budget hotel in mexico. But we were here to eat, drink, and relax. The bars, hardly had a bartender, especially the outside ones. The restaurant had a limited menu which was the same every day. The drinks....one beer to choose from, and only house liquor , so 5 liquors to choose from which all tasted the same , like gasoline. The drinks were always weak, and the bartenders, were not the most pleasant to deal with. All things we were willing to deal with except the price we paid (about $130 a night) was way to high for this place. This place should be charging $75 max. The final straw was the last night we were here I got food poisoning . Which we also saw in the reviews so i wasn't surprised. We will not be returning here, If you want to stay in a motel 6 type hotel in mexico this is your place!
