Only thing I didn’t like was that the bar was pretty claustrophobic.

The experience overall was good; the only issue I had was that the room didn't have any curtains. At 8am, the room was fully lit up and it woke me up. Had no way of blocking out the sun for another hour of sleep. Otherwise, the place was comfy. The staff was attentive and courteous. Thanks!

Kyle, I am sorry to hear that the blind was missing in your room. I understand how frustrating it must have been to miss out on that extra hour of sleep. Our Engineering team is going through the rooms to account for any missing blinds so that they can be replaced. It is pleasing to hear that the staff was there for your needs. I hope that when your travels bring you back to the area you will come see us again. Sincerely, W. Alex Jennings Assistant General Manager Sheraton Columbia Downtown Hotel

Stay Away

This hotel is nothing like the pics, the rooms are tiny, they smell and the floors make a ton of creaking noises. We got out right after check in and stayed at the Marriott next door. This place is bad don't waste your money

Beautiful old building renovated to elegant hotel

Pros: I love the way it's been renovated to emphasize the classic style of the building, with an almost British ambiance, while also offering free Wi-Fi.
Cons: The mini-fridge was sorely missed--but there was a space ready for installation, so it should be there soon.
Location: The hotel is on the corner of Main and Washington streets, a short walk down to the State House and, in the other direction, the art museum.
I grew up in Columbia, SC, and this was my first chance to actually stay in a hotel there after 40 years of being a New Yorker, since my mother is now in an assisted-living home and my sister lives farther out. I enjoyed exploring Main Street, so different from the 1960s, and love the way the Palmetto Building has been transformed into a luxe accommodation. Renovation of my room, on the fourth floor, was still not quite complete--the little cabinet where there should have been a mini-fridge was empty--but otherwise it was a beautiful and comfortable room with a nice view of Main Street, and there was an ice machine down the hall (bottled water was on the desk, and there was a coffeemaker and supplies). The staff were efficient and courteous, and I feel I got excellent value for money--despite the fact that I was a day late checking in because of airline difficulties. I had breakfast from room service on my first morning there, a nice collection of pastries, fruit, juice and coffee, but didn't have time to try the restaurants.

Cons: The menu the prices, cleanliness
Location: not a lot things to do we were there to visit a graduating soldier
The web site makes it look cleaner, bigger but its not! The restaurants only 3 to choose from all use the same menu, it is over the top expensive my daughter didnt eat for 2 days while we were there :(

Great Romanitc Evening

Pros: The look and feel of it
Cons: parking is a bit out of the way unless you want to pay for Valet.
Location: Many reasturants throughout downtown columbia, but the hotel has plenty to do within.
My wife and I went to the Sheraton while attending our son's graduation from Basic Training at Fort Jackson. We also decided the place would be great for a romantic get away fro the day. That afternooon we booked in which only took seconds. The 102 year old building had such life and character, yet modern within. We made our way to the roof top lounge and enjoyed drinks looking over the city 17 floors up. Then went into the Vault a martini bar within the lobby hidden within an actual bank vault inside the place. The statff was friendly helpful and even told us about the history of the hotel. Definately worth a second or more visit.

USC Accepted students day

Cons: People left room service trays on the table right at the elevators which was kind of gross.
The Hotel is lovely. Bed was so comfortable it was hard to get out of it! Rooftop deck was great place for a drink. Great location, close to USC and restaurants. Parked on street for free without valet. Great Crepe and croissant place around corner. Cute farmer's market on Main street on Saturday. Would absolutely stay again.
