We really enjoyed the beach life nearby we were able to rent bikes , scooters , and shop for groceries. For 4 days we woke up to a sloth on a tree, that was super cool to experience!

Fabulous Open Air Villa

Highly recommend for your stay near Puerto Viejo! The property team is incredibly kind and communicative. The area is perfect, as it’s about 10 min drive from the main town so a bit quieter but still with things to do. It’s on a side road with a path directly to the beach. They even had beach chairs and towels which came in handy. When we had a small issue with the dryer, they sent someone right away. I honestly wish we had more time in Costa Rica just to relax on the property!

Reviewer Comments: Good points:Very well equipped kitchen and house, beautiful rain forest yard with trails, close to the ocean with a very nice private beach, lots of things to do within walking distance, mostly attentive management company, Fabion was very helpful and gave us all the information needed at check-in, great security, very private location, wonderful wine and chocolate left as a welcome gift.Could improve upon:Shower heads are worn out and need replacing, sent request to obtain batteries for safe but received no response, a bit of a pain to have upstairs locked rooms.Overall this was a wonderful property and we would definitely recommend to others.

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was spotless. I was very happy with the location. I was very satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Everything was great and very well managed by the letting agents. It was a little tricky to find the first time so mentioning 'Bilbo' and the playa chiquita trail in the welcome comms would make it easier, or just share the Waze or google maps location. The house is very clean and well maintained and has lots of amenities. The welcome folder in the house needs to be updated (e.g. washing machine insructions) and should be placed on the kitchen bench; we only happened across it buried on the shelf under the tv.All in all a great stay and i wouldn't hesitate to recommend it. Thank you!

Great spot away from others

The property is described well in my opinion on VRBO. Very peaceful and secluded with private access to the beach. Main bed wasn't terrible in regards to comfort but i think the bigger bed in the extra room was more supportive. Pillows are quiet flat too, but we have slept on worse. The view outside the main bedroom with the windows open and the birds chirping and the ocean in the background is magical. Also the outdoor furniture was comfortable and great to lounge on while again enjoying the beautiful environment you are in. I noticed the management company in charge of the property was trying to get us to leave early so be mindful of your check out time and be ready to send someone on a motorcycle away 3 hours prior to your confirmed check out time. At least that was my experience, but Pura Vida. This place is highly recommended!!!

great place

had a really good time here for 10 nights.Postion of property was spot on,great places to eat and drink nearby and a great little beach a few mins walk away.The property was set in a lovely garden with nice outdoor seating area even had 4 sloths in the tree right out side the house.The place has no air con but really didnt need it as a lovely temperature in the evening and night was maintained in the house by nature,there is a large fan you can use if it gets too hot at night.Lots of noises night and day provided by nature so not a problem for us,Excellent surcurity to the building/grounds and access from the road.Contact by the managment team was excellent and instructions provided for check out set out in a whatsapp messege.All in all a very good break was had.Overall comfort and facilities at the property were good,though the shower in one of the bathrooms probably could to with updating as shower head/pressure not too good,but we just used the other one! thanks nick+sue

Disappointed

We had such high expectations for this property - but unfortunately it fell far from all of these. * From the listing, we had expected that it was a beachfront property. It is not. There is a path to get to the beach (which is great!), but the path is not well maintained and not even really known by the people who helped us check-in. * They say newer build... but the whole house is in different states of disrepair. Examples: All taps spew water all over the place, some where water is almost non-existant. Screens are in a bad condition - we had to use about a full roll of tape to "patch" enough for our stay. We even had to call someone to fix the screen in the kitchen as it was letting racoons in. * Not the cleanest place. We had to wash everything we used in the kitchen. Mold in different places. Storge closet smelled really bad. Poop of some sort on beds (new every day). Credit where credit is due - the overall location was good. Private parking and gated community. Close to shops that we needed and activities we were interested in. The beach nearby was nice. Overall, I would not recommend to a friend.

We visited at a hard time in my life and it was the perfect peaceful place surrounded by nature. Little animals in the yard, birds everywhere, beautifully landscaped. The house itself was airy, which I appreciated so much! I can’t stand feeling closed in. Screened window to open up and hunker down with tea. It was away from the hustle north and yet so close to the national parks. The checkin was great, and they were really helpful. The set up out back for dealing with sand was super helpful. The beach is a short walk down the private road and was exactly what I needed as my family has experienced grief recently. A peaceful soothing place. We adventured in the mornings and hung out under the big ceiling fans reading in the afternoon because it was so nice in the rooms with the windows open or on the terrace that it was wonderful just being there. They warned us about the water currents - please listen. It was great for staying in the shallow area to the north and hoping waves, or looking at the rocks. One of the neighbors helpfully described the part to watch out for and there was a sign. I have lived next to the ocean so I knew what they were talking about and it was hard to watch people go in the area with the drop off/current. Just ask. Still lots of beauty beach for me and my kiddo to play. I’m literally already trying to decide when to come back. It was our first trip to Costa Rica and I can’t believe no one I talked with (except a Costa Tican friend) told me about that area. The people who managed it were also exceptionally nice. I really did thank the house when I left. Also, those are howler monkeys. They were in the trees around the property. The most chill monkeys I’ve ever seen and had zero interest in mischief, just vegetarians doing their thing high up. Maybe they hang with sloths a lot? But you will know when it’s going to rain :) They actually warn you.

La casa es hermosa, muy cómoda, muy bien equipada, es privada y rodeada de naturaleza. Tiene restaurantes y tiendas cercanas. La comunicación y amabilidad del host fueron excelentes. Mi única observación es que la reservé pensando que tenía acceso a la playa y ya no es así, sugiero cambiar la descripción del inmueble para no causar confusión. La playa está cercana (distancia caminando o en auto), sin embargo para mí, que viajaba con un niño pequeño, hubiese sido más cómodo tener acceso a la playa desde la casa.

The only negative comment would be to include a warning about swimming on the beach, Everyone should be advised to avoid the rocks on the right. There is a crazy riptide that can pull you under the shelf of the rocks. Just stay to the left and your 100% safe.

Loved drinking coffee while watching birds, sloths, and butterflies. That was the first cup. The second was at the beach which was so close and quiet in the mornings. At night we loved drinking a cervesa and watching fire flies! It was great to have the kitchen to make our own breakfasts. We appreciated being away from the noise of the beach towns.

We loved the house, location and property. Thank you for the bowl of fruit at our arrival! It would be helpful to have two house keys and we never could get the code to work on the gate at the property. Thank you - we will be back for sure! Pura Vida!

A+ Experience

A beautiful home of extremely interesting architectural details and craftsmanship stocked with top quality accessories, all of which worked! WiFi not the strongest, but likely above average by Costa Rican standards for non-metro areas. Located nearly adjacent to a lovely often private sandy beach free of rocks in the water, Playa Chiquita. The house and neighborhood are well planned to make your stay feel extremely secure. Even the animals running around feel secure and safe to come right up to the porches, including a sloth and baby who passed by on the ground, very slowly...a unique video opportunity. The management team is tops, and couldn't have been more professional. Thanks especially, Fabian. We were extremely pleased with everything we encountered with this vacation destination.

Reviewer Comments: La ubicación de la casa es excelente, se encuentra en un barrio privado en una de las mejores playas de Carebe Sur- Playa Chiquita, realizando una pequeña caminata de 200 metros llegas a la playa, donde te recibe en marea baja unas hermosas piscinas naturales.
