The homeless problem in Brookings needs to be dealt with…….they are on every street corner and wandering all over. Unloading our luggage I was accosted by a man going through all the trash cans looking for cans/bottles. The front desk clerk was terrific!!!!

Whether we’re in a pandemic or not, we all want a clean hotel room. Well, our from was far from clean. I pulled out a chair and it was covered in stains. The refrigerator was not cleaned- you could see old icy food sludge in the freezer part. There was a used bar of soap left in the shower. We had a mishap with the shower and water went everywhere. We used the towels to clean up the water and the white towels were now black from dirt. The shower itself, is older, but that doesn’t mean there should be black mold all over the tiles. Old doesn’t need to equal dirt and grime. We asked for a king bed and non-smoking room and got a room with 2 queens and it wreaked of cigarettes. I attempted to let the office know via phone but the phone didn’t work so I had to walk back to the office to ensure they knew we were not smokers as their sign indicates they charge for smoking. The lovely woman who checked is in did apologize but that didn’t change the face that we paid over $300 for a dirty hotel room. Next time we visit family, we’ll definitely stay somewhere else.

The receptionist at check in was very awkward. Used travelocity to secure my reservations for the 2nd time. Both times I have selected that we have pets and both times it was ignored so they had to find us another room. The heater isn't clearly marked so if you use it, it ends up being 80 degrees in there. The inside doorknob fell off, I told the front desk to not worry about it until we left because we could still get out. She didn't seem to concerned about it. Just wanted to let them know so I wasn't charged. They don't have "do not disturbed" signs so we had to make our own. The water was hot, cold, hot, cold so showering was interesting. They are pet friendly but have no good space to take the pups out to use the bathroom or get exercise. I won't be staying here again.

There was no A/C in the room. The thermostat on the wall was not attached to anything. There was no way to secure the window in a partially open position. There were no door hangers to say “ Do not Disturb”.

Our room was clean but stark. The exterior carpeted spaces were dirty, the garbage can was overflowing, and there was trash under the stairs. The pool and hot tub were unavailable due to maintenance issues, and the water in our room’s shower was lukewarm at best. An abandoned restaurant on the motel property was the coup de grace.

Left with a bad taste

Pros: cheap
Cons: honor online booking prices clean on time
Location: great
I booked on Travelocity, the desk clerk refused to honor my rate, even though I showed her my confirmation. I asked Travelocity to resolve it, they were told the same thing... that she did not have to honor my rate and nothing could be done until the next day when the manager was returning. Next day manager reluctantly refunded my $14.02 when I told her that I had the confirmation and that Travelocity had called the front desk. I thought... an honest mistake. HOWEVER, my son and his family booked a reservation (different website) two days later with the EXACT same experience! Also, we arrived at 2:41 were told we were too early, come back in 30 min. (check-in is 3:00) We came back at 3:30 and the maid was still in the room, texting. My husband dropped off our bags and we left, returning 45 minutes later to find the door to the room left open... not unlocked, OPEN.... I am all for a bargain, but when I choose to rent cheap, I expect to at least be able to check in at the rate I booked. They blamed Travelocity for not entering my reservation, but when I walked in I told her my name, and she repeated back to me.... standard room, king sized bed? So, I know she saw the reservation. Again, had my kids not had the exact same experience two days later, I would have thought honest mistake. Now I feel very much like it's a bait and switch situation. If they don't want to honor online rates, DON'T list on their websites!! The experience left a bad taste in my mouth!!

Disapointing

Pros: The pool was very nice.The office clerk who checked us in was kind and helpful.
Cons: things in the room ,needed a tv guide in the room,no ants , and a breakfast that seem as if someone cared about the customer.
Location: We had a great time at the beach ,and everything we needed was close .
Bed was uncomfortable,ants in the bathroom,and the morning desk clerk was so involed in her computer ,,we had to ask her to refill almost all the breakfast food cause they were all empty one of the boys wanted a waffle ,the sign said ask and they would do it,and she did but she took 10 mins + to come back and check on it and we had to ask her to do so it was not eatiable because it was so hard,cause she was so involved in her computer,we was told one price with travelocity and had to pay much ,more than we were told.I normaly would,not complain about the room ,but with every thing esle I thought it should be told. The hot tub was not working ,no bubbles I wont stay there again.I stayed there before years ago and it was great in every way,needs to be like that again.
