Nestled in the woods on 2.5 waterfront acres where the Muddy River meets Merrymeeting Bay. The cabin is 350 square feet of simple living with a panoramic view. Three season hot water outdoor shower, wood burning stove with plenty of wood included. Kitchen is fully stocked with cooking supplies and has off grid cold water sink. Outbuilding with composting toilet is right out the back door. Kayaks and stand up paddle board are available to rent for an additional fee.
The cabin faces East for gorgeous sunrise viewing. The bedroom has blackout curtains if early rising isn't really your thing. The dining table and chairs fold down to make extra room for the twin sized pullout loveseat with comfortable memory foam mattress.
For a smaller ecological footprint we chose a semi off-grid design, without plumbing. There is a detached, well-lit outhouse with a modern composting toilet. The kitchen sink is run by an electric pump that pumps cold, drinkable water from a five gallon jug below. Kitchen appliances include full sized fridge with freezer, microwave, toaster oven, double burner electric cooktop, crockpot, coffee maker and small outdoor charcoal grill. The kitchen is fully stocked with any utensils you might need to cook with. We supply a selection of teas and coffee.
We purposefully do not have WiFi so that our guests are able disconnect and fully relax into their vacation. Don't worry, there is at least 2 bars of service for your cell phone.
Across the yard is an unoccupied camp without any tenants or visitors to interrupt your private getaway.
The cabin is 150 feet from the tidal water's edge where the mud flats of the Muddy River lead into Merrymeeting Bay. There are about 80 feet of mud flats at low tide before you reach the channel for swimming; the mud is pretty squishy at low tide and not so bad at high tide.
Located 12 minutes from Brunswick, Topsham and Bowdoin College; 35 minutes from Portland; 30 minutes from Augusta; 40 minutes from nearby beaches.
