There is a moment, usually somewhere between your second run of the day and sinking into the hot tub that evening, when you realize this is exactly the kind of trip you needed. Ski-in/ski-out access, a private indoor hot tub, mountain views that stop you mid-sentence. The Sugarplum Chalet has a cozy, festive charm that feels like Christmas all year, and it sits right in the heart of one of the best mountain destinations in the country. Whether you are here for the powder or the wildflowers, it is a home base worth coming back to.
The living room has high wood-beamed ceilings, leather couches, and holiday decor that stays up year-round because honestly, why take it down. It is warm and comfortable in a way that does not feel staged. Grab the good seat by the window and you have got mountain views and a coffee in hand. Hard to beat that.
The dining table fits eight, the kitchen has everything you need to cook real meals, and there is a balcony off the main level for when you just need five minutes of fresh air. Upstairs, the primary suite has a king bed, its own private balcony, and a private indoor hot tub. After a full day outside, that hot tub is not a luxury, it is a necessity.
Four bedrooms, four bathrooms. Plenty of room for a big family or a group of friends without anyone getting cranky about sharing.
Please note the fireplace is decorative at this time and not operational.
Winter
Big Sky Resort is the biggest skiing in America, and it earns that title every single year. With 5,800 skiable acres, 4,350 feet of vertical drop, and an average of 400+ inches of snowfall annually, it delivers for every level of skier and rider. When you are ready to step off the slopes, the historic Lone Mountain Ranch has 85+ kilometers of groomed Nordic trails through the wilderness, voted the #1 cross-country ski resort in North America. Beyond that, Yellowstone National Park, snowmobiling, snowshoeing, dog sledding, ice fishing, and world-class spa experiences are all within easy reach.
Summer
The mountains do not slow down when the snow melts. Within minutes you have world-class fly fishing, river rafting, golf, hiking, mountain biking, horseback riding, and zip-lining at your doorstep. Follow the scenic Gallatin River along historic Highway 191 and you are at the west entrance of Yellowstone National Park in just 45 minutes. Stay long enough and you will find free concerts, farmers markets, and weekly events scattered throughout the season.
