This was the 2nd time staying at Moons & Loons and again didn’t disappoint! The cabin, lake, & management were awesome. The cabin was warm & inviting from the first step through the door. It was stocked with everything you could possibly need/want from the kitchen to blankets you could take outside to keep warm around the fire. Looking forward to another stay!

Cabin and location are beautiful and extremely peaceful. Maybe the time of year, but only ducks, loons and falling acorns making sounds. Everything we needed was there.

It’s a beautiful location and place to stay. Everything you need is there. Beautiful sunsets and a lot of wildlife. Would rent again in a heartbeat.

Home town family stay

All around 5 stars great! Ample boats, provided firewood, gas grill in good shape, games in shed, large lawn for sports, well stocked kitchen. Minor improvements: could not find more bar soaps and WiFi was wrong in welcome email (but placard next to TV was correct!). Will stay again. Thank you!

Lake/Mountain Bliss

Awesome cabin with all the amenities, spectacular view of lake & mountains. Great kayaking, campfires, coffee on the deck, area hiking. Looking forward to come back.

Awesome ADK getaway!

Moons and Loons was great, the property is impeccable. All of the furnishings really give you that Adirondack camp feel, but also a bit of elegance. It’s a perfect place to recharge your batteries from work and city life. We would definitely return!

Enjoyed our stay

We were really delighted with the level of cleanliness of the property. The house was equipped with everything that we needed to have a comfortable vacation. The view of the lake from the house was incredible. Plus, our host was very friendly and informative of things to do in the area. Overall, this was an excellent house to stay in and we will be looking forward to renting this house again.

The property is beautifully decorated! The kitchen was really well stocked. There were plenty of lake toys although the canoe was very tippy. It would have been nice to get the door code earlier as the cell phone service on my way there was spotty. Additionally, there is no way that eight people could stay here comfortably. The sleeping couch is the only couch and is located in the common area (i.e. there is no where to be if the couch is being used for sleeping).

Loved this cottage! So clean and right on the water. Autumn was beautiful. If I didn't live 1,100 miles away I would come back every year but, alas.....it's almost time to retire!! yay!

Wonderful stay

This property is gorgeous. There are great views of the lake from the patio, yard, and living room. We were really pleased with the amount of seating inside and out. We’re a family of five aged 19 to 56. We had plenty of space and we were very comfortable. The kitchen is well stocked. We enjoyed the fire pit and using the canoe and kayaks. We would definitely love to visit again.

Fantastic!

We have stayed at Moons and Loons twice — Aug 2020 and July 2022. The property is wonderful. We spent a lot of time in/on the water in the provided kayaks and SUPs. Nice general store 2 miles away in Black Brook. Easy and scenic 30-40 min drive to Lake Placid or the Adirondack Loj. Would certainly stay again.

Amazing

Very relaxing cozy getaway equipped with more then we could have imagined! One thing we noticed, as we had seven people, another small couch or form of additional comfortable lounging seating could be useful. We had some issues with the WiFi/TV but were able to manage. Overall we loved our vacation!

Best family vacation EVER

Stunning sunsets, comfy cabin and everything in between! All of us were so happy that we didn’t want to leave the cabin! Our adult kids all the way down to our 5 year old we’re beyond content to play on Lake Fern all day, every day of our stay! We sat around the fire pit at night and watched the shooting stars while we ate s’mores. We were SO happy at the cabin. This was our very best find EVER!

Magical Views and Comfortable Stay

This was hands down the best spot we stayed at during our vacation. The cabin was so adorable and decorated perfectly. They included so many nice touches such as the blankets to use by the fire and the extra comforters in the closets for the cooler nights! The night we had a fire I saw more stars in the sky there than I have in my entire life. Kind of hurt my neck staring up so long but it was worth it and so amazing to be able to experience that! Even though it had a secluded feel, it was close to many places. We hiked Whiteface Mountain and visited downtown Lake Placid. We were so sad to leave and wished we would have booked for longer. Would love to visit again someday. Don’t hesitate to book this place and add an extra day if you can, you won’t be disappointed!

Beautiful Adirondacks getaway destination

My girlfriend and I really enjoyed our stay at Moons & Loons Cottage on Fern Lake. It's a beautiful, well-appointed lakefront property that hit on our desire for a peaceful, beautiful getaway. We will strongly consider a return stay here. Pros: --We enjoyed our meals and relaxing on the patio, looking out on the lake; sitting by the fire pit each night; watching the loons, ducks, bald eagles,; fishing from the dock, etc. --Very comfortable, clean, and stylish accommodations --Washer & Dryer; comfortable beds; anything you might need for home cooking is included in the kitchen --Property is a quick drive the town center of Ausable, making it easy to run out to the market to pick up any supplies you might need Cons: --Shower head is less than optimal; no shelf or anywhere in/around the shower to place anything (soap, shampoo, etc.) --The gas grill is functional, but is in need of new burner covers (rusted/disintegrating) and grill grates; location of the grill is on the side of the cottage away from the patio and front door, making it a bit of a chore to mind what you're cooking while doing other things --The firewood provided isn't covered, so even occasional rain showers dampened the wood to the point that it wasn't ideal for getting a camp fire going; we purchased seasoned camp wood nearby --Not sure if it's intentional, but there was a meager supply of paper napkins and no paper towels in the cottage

Amazing property

Moons and Loons was the perfect place for our girls getaway. We’re planning on returning with our spouses next summer. The cabin is beautiful and has everything you need. Very convenient to Lake Placid. Five stars all the way around.
