The first night we were there we noticed the smell of cigarette smoke in the hallway. We were in room 603. We called the front desk to let them know, but nothing was done about it. In addition, that first night the room next (605) to us had a number of children in it that were basically running wild and using foul language. This went well past midnight. The next night (Sat. Feb. 2), the same thing with the children in the room next to us was occurring. The smoking was happening again as well. What appeared to be happening was the parents were in a room across the hall and they were allowing the children to b in the room unsupervised. I would see the children going back and forth between the room. THe children were extremely loud, screaming, and jumping around. The smoking was happening again and this time it smelled like there was marijuana as well. I called the front desk to report this and see if they could do something. 30 minutes later nothing had changed. I told the front desk that if they could not do anything about it, please give us a different room. The lady working the desk said she was the only one at the front and she could not leave the desk. The only thing she could do is give us a different room. She gave us 802. When we left on Monday, she could not discount the room because it was reserved through Travelicity

Convenient and reasonable

Pros: Close restaurants, Free Internet, mega convenient
First, let's start with what this place isn't ... it is not a luxury hotel. It is an older property in an AWESOMELY convenient, easy to find, location. No driving (wandering) through city streets to find this hotel, which is especially nice if you are arriving after dark. Who wants to go hunting a pecking in downtown D.C., Arlington, or Alexandria for that matter, when all you want to do is park your car, check in, and lay down! Our room the first night was a double, which was definitely small and beds are doubles, not queens. We got upgraded to a king suite the remainder of our stay because they needed our room for a bunch of field trippers ... yay, us! Both rooms we stayed in were clean. The upgraded suite was a little more renovated in the bathrooms. Both rooms we occupied had comfortable beds. The noise from the interstate is there, but not all that intrusive. Nice low hum in the background will put you right to sleep. The access to the metro is the KEY, though. Don't drive downtown. It is plain nuts and everyone behind the wheel of a vehicle becomes an instant rear-end. The metro stop is more or less on the other side of your parking lot. Once you park that car, you won't have to drive again, unless you are heading out to George Washington's Estate Mount Vernon or one of the battlefields. And since you are driving AWAY from D.C. for those junkets, they are no big deal. We made the mistake of driving downtown and it took us two hours just to drive around the National Mall and get back to our hotel. Ugh. It's a good value and location is great. I would recommend this to a friend.

This hotel was a nightmare!!

Cons: Noisy, unscrupuious employees
Future guest stay at your own risk!!! First, let me share with you. The water was extremely hot!! When we called the front desk, to let it be known the water was extremely hot, no one came until an hour later. Well, the guy came before he got off from work, but he left with extremely hot water. He said he would come back to see if it was still hot, but he never came back. We were told by Holiday Inn, at "least the water wasn't cold". I witness the front desk clerk stealing one of the guest money too. I will not stay at this location either anymore. I will continue to share with other guest. Stay at your own risk!! Sometimes people will not believe what they hear until it happens to them. Remember if you should stay and something happens to you, I had warned you!

This hotel is a good choice for Alexandria.

Pros: Free Internet, Quiet
Cons: narrow beds
We had three people in the room. I thought that the room would have two queen size beds, but it had two regular beds. I found out later that the hotel only has regular beds. The bathroom was a tight fit with the door opening in on to the guest. The hotel is close to the metro which gave freedom when you don't have a car. The breakfast was an extra cost. Because I don't eat breakfast I did not miss it.

The room was nice, but the biggest plus is that it is only 1 block from the Metro.

Pros: Free Internet, metro only one block away., free parking
Cons: Poor breakfast
The room was nice, and a good value. The restaurant on the premises wasn't very busy, usually only a couple other guests besides me when I was there for breakfast. The wait staff wasn't very attentive, and sometimes I had to ask for more coffee. The restaurant was at best so-so. The best attribute is that it is only one block from the Metro station. For that reason I would stay there again if in the area.

Nice people, but environment was lacking.

Pros: Free breakfast, Close restaurants, Free Internet
Cons: needs renovation desperately
The hotel has changed. New roadways have engulfed it, and it has not been renovated in quite some time. The food is average, and the room decor is dated. The bathroom caulking, countertops, and fixtures need updating, replacement, and renovation. The shuttle was convenient.

This Hotel was nice and close to the metro

Pros: Close restaurants, Free Internet, Quiet, free parking, close to the metro, courteous and helpful staff
Cons: no free breakfast
chose this hotel b/c of the location and free parking. It was a short walk to the metro, has free parking, many eateries and a movie theater right down the street (within walking distance). I also like the fridge inside the room so i could buy things in bulk and keep them clod. the only downside to this hotel is that they do not offer a free continental breakfast as do most hotels. Have already recommended it to a friend.
