Dive into a Hotel Deal
Vacationers have been coming to dive Cozumel’s lush reef walls, cave-pocked pinnacles, and coral gardens since they were popularized by Jacques Cousteau in the late 1950s. Because it is the most visited SCUBA destination in the Americas, most Cozumel hotels cater to divers and snorkelers and even offer their own dive shops.
Cozumel’s one town, San Miguel, is located about halfway up the island’s west coast. The majority of Cozumel’s almost 20 miles of coral formations are located off the island’s southwestern shores. If you want to roll out of bed and walk onto your dive boat, the hotels located south of town would be your best bet. They all have docks for dive-boat service and many offer all-inclusive packages. If you’re looking for a Cozumel cheap hotel, then San Miguel, with its numerous bars, restaurants, and shops, is the place for you. If you just want to enjoy the island’s azure waters and white-sand beaches and aren’t there for diving, then the north shore might call your name.
More Cozumel Activities
While diving and snorkeling are the main attractions, there is more to the island than Cozumel’s celebrated reef. Fishing, parasailing, boat rides, and jet-skiing are other popular water activities. Hotels in Cozumel can also arrange land-based adventures that include jeep, ATV, or horseback tours of the island and visits to the San Gervasio Maya ruins.
