Amsterdam Hotels at Central Station
Dating to the 13th century, Amsterdam is a historical and cultural jewel of Europe, a city where museums, shops, and restaurants line the ancient streets and meandering canals. The city fans out to the south from the Central Railway Station, so Amsterdam hotels located nearby are ideal starting points. Stroll down Damrak Street to Dam Square, the heart of the city, stopping along the way at museums such as Amstelkring, the Koninklijk Palace, and at the various markets that dot the city.
Bargain Lodgings in Amsterdam
For Amsterdam cheap hotels, the Museumplein and Vondelpark areas are packed with museums and parks just east of the city’s center. The hotels, inns, and B&Bs there are affordable without losing their quality. Plus, the nearby Van Gogh Museum, the Rijksmuseum (with its enormous Rembrandt collection), and the contemporary art of the Stedelijk share the neighborhood with little boutiques and quaint eateries. More affordable hotels in Amsterdam can be found in the Redlight District within the city’s center, which offers some of the city’s quirkiest shops, restaurants, and buildings, although be warned that adult-oriented fun takes over come nightfall.
No trip to Amsterdam would be complete without a tour of the city’s famous network of canals. Walk to the “Golden Bend” to view the most magnificent canal homes in the city. Sitting along a canal on the Prinsengracht is the Anne Frank House, and a short walk south will take you to Nassaukade, along which more cheap Amsterdam hotels are found.
