Many Montreal Attractions Await
While this French-speaking city may offer echoes of Europe, Montreal has a certain charm that can only come from its unique location in Canada. Set at the junction of the St. Lawrence and Ottawa Rivers, churches and historic buildings dot the city, and hotels in Montreal put you in easy reach of many attractions, especially if you stay downtown or by the port. Plus, if you stay downtown during bad weather, you can take advantage of the city’s extensive—and marvelous—underground system of walkways.
Old Montreal has many historic buildings on St. James Street, along with markets, museums, and horse-drawn carriages that clip-clop along cobblestone streets. The city is also known for its many cultural events and festivals, which is great for lovers of art and theater who can find live music and dance at Place des Arts.
A Sporting Time of It
Of course, no trip to Canada is complete without taking in a hockey game, and many guests who stay in cheap Montreal hotels opt to cheer along the Canadiens during their visit. Also of interest to sports fans is the Olympic Stadium dating back to the 1976 summer games. Montreal hotels can also be found nearby the Mount Royal hill, where there’s a large park with everything from a sculpture garden to a ski slope.
