Cross Hill Cabin - Catskills Getaway & Retreat

This rustic log cabin is nestled on 18 wooded acres in the Catskills. It comes with your own private pond, apple orchard and mountain views. Come to fish, hunt or just enjoy the fresh country air. Cozy up around the wood burning stove at night, relax in the ample dining and living spaces, lofted sleeping area and country kitchen. Perfect for that weekend getaway and conveniently located minutes from downtown Cobleskill, Howes Caverns and Mallet Pond State Forest.

Cross Hill Cabin is a true mid-century log cabin, custom cut, shaped and hewn-by-hand. Its builder was an avid collector, musician and lover of the outdoors. Over the years it has served as a family retreat and hunting lodge. Much of the cabin's original look and character has been preserved and it serves as a testament to country living and respite from the modern world.

This cabin is secluded, but that doesn't mean you can't stay connected. It has high-speed wifi and an entertainment system for streaming all your favorite movies and shows. It is heated by propane and a wood burning stove and keeps a moderate temperature year round. We will provide the firewood. There is a full bath, an open living room and dining area and a classic country kitchen with antique Roper stove. It is fully stocked with plates, cups, bowls, flatware, cooking utensils, spices and basic staples like salt, sugar, coffee and tea for your comfort and enjoyment.

Imagine after a hearty dinner, spending a summer evening on the covered porch overlooking the pond at sunset. Smoke a pipe in the gazebo, have a cup of tea, or that well deserved glass of wine. Enjoy the mountains, then light up the fire pit and roast some marshmallows or snuggle up around the wood stove with some hot chocolate. When the day is done, retreat to your cozy sleeping loft with enough space to sleep 5 or head to the sleeping quarters on the first floor with a single bed. For more than 6 guests, there is a convertible queen-size futon and air mattresses available upon request.

Guests will enjoy roaming this 18-acre property with its open fields, wooded game trails, 1-acre pond, large apple orchard, "ninja" course and hammocks. There is a place to relax and explore for everyone of every age. In the winter, feel free to bring your cross-country skis, snow shoes and sleds. In the warmer months, there is a paddle boat available (please ask us before use). The fall is a special time to roam through the splendid colored foliage, picking and tasting crisp apples along the way.

Restock and take a break from the country in downtown Cobleskill just 5 minutes away. Many guests enjoy the stores, restaurants and bars of this small college town. For even more outdoor adventures make sure to check out Howe Caverns and Mallet Pond State Forest nearby. In addition, Windham Mountain with world-class skiing is about 40 minutes away, and Oneonta is about an hour drive.

We fell in love with this property the moment we saw it. We know you will feel the same and can't wait to share it with you!

Wonderful house with lots of antique stuff. Love it!
Beautiful property that offers a unique experience of staying in a log house. The fire stove provided more than enough warmth to the entire house. The additional propane heater is also there in case we did not want to keep the fire stove going all the time. Shower cubicle is really small for a guy like me (I am 6 feet 2 inches tall), but I was still able to manage take showers.

Cross Hill Cabin
The cabin and location were great. The cabin is very clean has everything anyone would need to have a memorable stay. There are lots of memorabilia from times gone by, and they are arranged throughout the cabin with an artistic flair. Great place to relax and to enjoy the grounds that surround the cabin. We will be back.
