Welcome to the Rapid River Retreat! Sitting on the beautiful Rapid River less than a mile from the boat ramp! You will feel like you are on vacation from the moment you drive down the winding driveway through the woods.

This is the perfect home base for a Northern Michigan getaway. 35 minutes from Traverse City, 60 minutes to Sleeping Bear Dunes, 90 minutes to Makinaw Bridge.

The cottage has 3 bedrooms and 2.5 bathrooms. Originally designed as a house with a separate guest house, we have connected them to create one larger vacation home.

Spend the day relaxing in the shallow, crystal clear river, or kayak for miles! Torch Lake is just a short kayak trip away. (4 adult kayaks, 2 children’s kayaks, and a canoe provided)

You cannot get a boat to the dock due to shallow water. The house sits less than a mile from the DNR boat launch though so bring your boat and drop it in for a day on the Lake!

A week get away
Property was back in the woods private and quite.hiuse was very clean and spacious.it was hard to get my 24ft boat around some of the trees but I managed.would of been nice to have water deep enough to dock a boat but jet skis are no problem.over all Avery nice get away for the whole family.

Relaxing Northern Michigan get-a-way
House was very clean!!! We loved sitting out on the dock reading, watching the ducks, and enjoying the sunshine, as u can see the sun rise and sunsets, depending on which way you turn your chairs. Our adult children loved using kayaks in the river! The fire pit was great and we used that area almost every night! (Bring items for s’mores, camping skewers, and pie irons!) Purchased wood (2 bundles for five dollars) right down the road from the house! Super convenient! Plenty of space for the 6 of us! The only other thing to keep in mind is the set-up of the bathrooms. There was one full bath in the hallway on first floor (which most of used for showers). The 2nd full bathroom has a small/compact stand-up shower in the jack and jill bathroom in hallway on first floor on other side of house; however when in use, u cannot access the third bedroom upstairs. That didn’t really bother us; however worthy of mentioning. The half bath is then upstairs by one of the bedrooms, so the master bedroom is not attached to a bathroom. Minus those minor details, we enjoyed the house very much and it is a very nice home, with tons of household supplies available! (Thank you to the owners for thinking of everything!). The owner was helpful and sent information two weeks prior to arrival date.

It was a good stay for the most part. Water was really cold. House was pretty warm upstairs in bedrooms very hard to sleep if you like it cool. If you are looking to stay in and cook they do not have a lot of the essentials you would need for cooking for a large family or multiple people. House was nice and clean. Kayaks and canoe were nice to use but had to paddle a good distance with kids to get to warmer water for the kids to enjoy it. Rented a pontoon to really be able to enjoy torch lake from this location.

Tranquil and peaceful
Adam’s house it set along the most beautiful lazy river -huge spreads of flowering lily pads and swans, ducks, river otters. River is very shallow and safe for our two boys to explore on their own. outdoor fire pit super. Very private. House was big enough for our family and had everything we needed. Hope to come back next summer for a month !

Great place to vacation near Torch Lake
We absolutely loved staying here!! The house was just a few minute drive to Torch Lake and about a 15-20min kayak ride. The house was well stocked with the essentials and was very clean! We had a great time and thank you, Adam for being a great host:) We will recommend to other family and friends!

Hidden Gem With Breathtaking Views
Adam was wonderful to work with from the minute we booked his property. His place is beautiful, clean and updated. We were even fortunate enough to have central air for the warmer days. We loved how his place allowed for all of us to spread out by having two separate lofts and living areas upstairs. It was great having a room on the main floor for the grandparents so they did not need to use stairs. Although the house is amazing, nothing compares to the location and beauty of the outdoors. We loved the 6 kayaks and canoe for all of us to take to Torch River to go to the sand bar and fish. It is very shallow on Rapid River off his dock but the teens loved it for football and water games. To us it was perfect! If you are a boater, luckily there is a boat launch right down the road less than a mile away. We rented a boat at Torch River marina and went on Torch Lake for a day. Our vacation was amazing and I promise your this place is a hidden paradise. Listening to the ducks each day, having fires at night, and star watching from the dock were truly breathtaking.
