Arkady is set in a 7,000 square metres of olive grove and gardens with panoramic views of Navarino Bay, Pylos and the mountains behind. You will be close enough to the centre of Gialova to walk to the beach and restaurants ( 10 mins walk / 3 mins by car ). The apartment has everything you expect in high quality, self contained holiday accommodation, with a full kitchen on the wide balcony so you can enjoy incredible views and the sound of a million cicadas while cooking or washing-up. There's a small pool and sun terrace in the olive grove with sunbeds and a shaded area with tables and easy chairs for idyllic lunches under the olive trees or quiet reading. Lying in the pool at night is a magical way to star-gaze.
Gialova offers a fantastic range of restaurants, cafes and bars whilst retaining a friendly small village atmosphere. The 2021 tourist season was incredibly well-managed in Gialova. All restaurant staff wear masks/visors and adhere to strict hygeine rules so you don't have to.
Apart from our quiet local beach, Golden Beach at the other side of the village offers 3km of safe, sandy beach. Palio Kastro ( old castle) is on the cliff above - a great walk, with stunning views of Voidikilia beach, below - voted one of the top ten beaches in the world by the New York Times in 2010. Because of UNESCO status it remains undeveloped. If you prefer not to to drive you can rent bicycles .
We organise boat rental so you can explore the islands, go snorkelling and find the tiny 'secret beach' of Sphacteria. On the island is a wooden church built by the Russians to commemorate the Battle of Navarino.
This are abounds with natural and historic interest including Nestor's Palace, beautiful waterfall walks, Ancient Olympia, The Temple of Apollo Epicurus at Bassae, Ancient Messini and Methoni Castle, once known as 'The Eyes Of Venice' for it's strategic importance.
The small town of Pylos is 5km from Arkady apartment, has good supermarkets, a castle and museums and is one of the most beautiful old towns in the Peloponnese.
We are sheltered from the open sea by the island of Sphacteria, where the Athenians finally defeated the Spartans in 425bc and the Spartans camped on our beach !
This area is far enough from Athens to be still off the beaten track. People that come here enjoy a peaceful, unspoilt, relaxed atmosphere and the friendly rural community maintains its identity and customs.
Arkady apartment is family owned and independent. We look forward to welcoming you here for a memorable holiday.
