Two blocks North (from the house) you will find the canal; West will take you towards Buffalo Rock in 5/6 miles, East will take you towards downtown Ottawa.. note: if you stay on the canal another half mile you will find our beautiful river walk along the Fox River @ Fox River Park. Local parks; Starved Rock 15 min drive, Matthiessen State Park 25 min drive, Dayton Bluffs 7 min drive. There are many great places to eat; B.A.S.H, Lone Buffalo by Tangled Roots, Hanks Farm, Bianchis, Pine Hills Golf Course, Steves Bakery, The Cheese Shop, Shakers bar and grill, Annies Hideaway (Naplate). Close to Everything in Ottawa
Good location, short drive to the state parks and restaurants. The kitchen has everything including new coffee makers. The neighborhood seemed sketchy at first, but we had a quiet stay.

Cute comfy house
Nicely updated house in older neighborhood. Nice architecture details in home which made it feel larger, comfy bed, good water pressure and beautifully decorated. Comfortable couch with nice kitchen island and good supply of needed kitchen items. Very clean house. Owner communicated quickly when messaged. Train heard at times but never woke us up. Would stay there again.

Overall we had a wonderful stay at this property. Very clean, and it's located on a quiet street (except for the occasional freight train). It really IS a short walk to the downtown area/main drag which offers great (thrift!) shopping and dining. You can also walk to the I&M trail and do a loop onto the riverwalk and back through town. Driving over to Walmart/Krogers/Aldi from this house is simple, as well as driving to Buffalo Rock and Starved Rock State Parks. After 1 day of using GPS, I didn't need it anymore because it's in a super easy area to navigate to anything. Inside there's a large (& wonderful!) island in the kitchen which makes cooperative cooking a breeze. There's also a bar type area to eat while watching TV, or for remote work (perfect height as a standing desk too!) My only negative: there are no nightstands and no other lighting than the ceiling lights (and a really cool night light). No stars off, because it's not a deal breaker, though after a week I got tired of putting my glasses and phone on the floor next to the bed, and I missed a small lamp to read by at night. Owner communication was fantastic - seemed very down-to-earth and eager to make us comfortable. I would definitely re-book with this property if I found myself in the area again. After a few days it felt like home, and is in a friendly neighborhood and town that's located in a perfect spot. 5 Stars
