Mountain Top Cabin Refuge

Come relax and enjoy "The Caboose"; a cozy, rustic, all log cabin built in 1959 and renovated in 2022. Stay in and just relax or go outside and play in God's country. Located at 33 Upper Road, just 40 minutes West of beautiful Laramie, Wyoming.

Small two bedroom (1 bedroom, 1 large loft with ladder), very comfortable size for 1 family. The loft, see pictures, has shorter railings so isn't ideal for small children.

The cabin is nestled up to Medicine Bow National Forest with millions of acres of recreational opportunities which include but are not limited to:
- Groomed, marked and maintained snowmobile trails. Approx. 1/2-mile drive to trial head. Maps available online or at local forest service office.
- An old railroad bed turned bike trail "Rails to Trails". Approx. 3-mile drive to trial head. Maps available online or at local forest service office.
- 2 nearby historic Bar/restaurants... 1. Wycolo bar and restaurant is approximately 2 miles West on hwy. 230 with the groomed trail leading there in the winter months.
2. Historic Woods Landing is about a 10 min. drive back down the mountain towards Laramie with great food, good people and a dance floor.
- Mountain streams, ponds and small lakes for fishing. Close to Miller Lake, Lake Owen and Rob Roy Reservoir.
- Hunting of all kinds
- Atv, utv trails, 4x4 trails and countless roads to explore.
- Hiking, Geocaching, exploring some of the historic mining camps/towns.

****Please be advised (see map photo in pictures), the cabin is only accessible by conventional vehicles from June-December. The remainder of the year, the caboose is an easy 0.5-mile walk, snowshoe, snowmobile, cross country ski etc. trip in from a very large parking lot that is plowed all winter. Snowstorms are not always predictable and may last days. The lot is plowed within 24 hours of every storm, but four-wheel drive vehicles are highly advised.

Due to mountain roads being impassable during winter months Snowy Range ski area is a 1 hour drive from the Caboose cabin. Skiers would have to drive 30 miles back down towards Laramie on hwy 230 and take Big Hallow cut across, then 30 minutes West on hwy 130 to get to the Ski area. It is closer to stay in Laramie or Centennial.

Cutest Quaintest Cabin Around
From the moment we were greeted by the sweetest dog and kindest hostess, we knew this would be a gem. Quaint, warm, inviting, thoughtfully laid out, and perfect for a quiet getaway in the woods. We could even envision ourselves living there it’s such a cute sleepy little hamlet. Will definitely go back!

Cabin stay
Quaint rustic cabin in secluded area. Really enjoyed the cabin and exploring the surrounding area. Medicine Bow national Forest was awesome. Rob Roy Reservoir was also a great day trip. We were definitely returned. Cabin was very simple, but had everything we needed.

Father/Daughter Hunting Trip
The Cabin was very well stocked up on everything we needed. The Cabin was clean. It is Rustic and has lots of cool antiques for decor, but it also has all the modern day conveniences you need to enjoy your stay. My daughter used the Wifi to keep up on her homework while away from school. There was plenty of pre cut firewood for the fire pit and the wood stove. Had the opportunity to meet Eric and his wonderful family. Left there feeling like we had made a new friend. Thanks for a wonderflul stay.

Great cabin in the woods
We generally stay at free standing VRBO's since we have to dogs we travel with and it makes life easier. The Caboose is a great place to stay if you want to get some peace and quiet out in the woods (but not far from a major road). The cabin has everything you would need, just bring food. There are lots of old knickknacks to look at, which makes it a little cluttered, but there is still plenty of room to enjoy your stay. The cabin was very clean and so quiet! The bed was comfy and there was plenty of hot water, although the shower pressure was a little weak. The Wi-Fi is spotty but adequate. Would stay here again if we were to stay in the area.

Great cabin
The cabin was a great place to get away from the daily hustle. The cabin was clean, easy to get to and in a quiet area. We thoroughly enjoyed leaving directly from the cabin in our UTV and hitting many of the trails in tbe area. The owner was very responsive in all communications. The cabin was well stocked with all essentials. I highly recommend this cabin as a great place to stay in the Medicine Bow range.

Great place to stay and get away for a bit. The cabin has a lot of space and a lot of neat decorations as well. Definitely punch in the actual address if you’re using GPS. Using the map from the app will take you through past it. We would definitely stay here again!

Awesome cabin
This was a great base camp. We went on many adventures from the cabin. We don’t like all the busy of being in town. Quiet is what we look for. If your looking for the same look no further. It’s a short drive to anything you would want to do in the area. The cabin is clean and FULLY stocked. Anything you would want to make can be made. Just bring your groceries. The AWESOME wood fired stove will cook it. It’s electric also. My only complaint is our vacation ended and we had to leave. Eric is a great host and needs many more families to go and enjoy his little slice of heaven. Eric, thank you for allowing us to stay at your property. Hopefully it created some core memories for my children. I know it did for us. God speed my friend, best of luck.

Short stay in July
We very much enjoyed our stay. The decor was interesting as there were antiques on display which we appreciated. While we did not have kids with us, there were toys for kiddos present. Our phones (Verizon) had no reception at cabin but internet did work. Kitchen was well stocked. I rated communications with manager as a 5 as I did not have a reason to contact him- and no reception on phone on my part!
